1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, nel deserto del Sinai, nella tenda del convegno, il primo giorno del secondo mese, il secondo anno dalla loro uscita dalla terra d’Egitto, e disse:
2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.	2 «Fate il computo di tutta la comunità degli Israeliti, secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, testa per testa,
3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;	3 dai vent’anni in su, quanti in Israele possono andare in guerra; tu e Aronne li censirete, schiera per schiera.
4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.	4 Sarà con voi un uomo per tribù, un uomo che sia capo del casato dei suoi padri.
5 'These are the names of those who must help you: For Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.	5 Questi sono i nomi degli uomini che vi assisteranno. Per Ruben: Elisùr, figlio di Sedeùr;

10 Of the sons of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel son ofPedahzur.	10 per i figli di Giuseppe, per Èfraim: Elisamà, figlio di Ammiùd; per Manasse: Gamlièl, figlio di Pedasùr;
11 For Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni.	11 per Beniamino: Abidàn, figlio di Ghideonì;
12 For Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.	12 per Dan: Achièzer, figlio di Ammisaddài;
13 For Asher, Pagiel son of Ochran.	13 per Aser: Paghièl, figlio di Ocran;
14 For Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel.	14 per Gad: Eliasàf, figlio di Deuèl;
15 For Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.'	15 per Nèftali: Achirà, figlio di Enan».
16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.	16 Questi furono i designati della comunità, i prìncipi delle loro tribù paterne, i capi delle migliaia d’Israele.
17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named	17 Mosè e Aronne presero questi uomini, che erano stati designati per nome,
18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. The Israelitesestablished their pedigrees by clans and families, and one by one the names of all men of twenty years and overwere recorded.	18 e radunarono tutta la comunità, il primo giorno del secondo mese; furono registrati secondo le famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando il numero delle persone dai vent'anni in su, testa per testa.
19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.	19 Come il Signore gli aveva ordinato, Mosè ne fece il censimento nel deserto del Sinai.
20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	20 Risultò per i figli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, testa per testa, dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 censiti della tribù di Ruben quarantaseimilacinquecento.
22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	22 Per i figli di Simeone, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, testa per testa, dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
23 The total of these for the tribe of Simeon was fifty-nine thousand three hundred.	23 censiti della tribù di Simeone cinquantanovemilatrecento.
24 Once the pedigrees of Gad's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	24 Per i figli di Gad, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
25 The total of these for the tribe of Gad was forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.	25 censiti della tribù di Gad quarantacinquemilaseicentocinquanta.
26 Once the pedigrees of Judah's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	26 Per i figli di Giuda, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
27 The total of these for the tribe of Judah was seventy-four thousand six hundred.	27 censiti della tribù di Giuda settantaquattromilaseicento.
28 Once the pedigrees of Issachar's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	28 Per i figli di Ìssacar, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:

32 As regards the descendants of Joseph: once the pedigrees of Ephraim's descendants had beenestablished by clans and families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, wererecorded one by one.	32 Per i figli di Giuseppe: per i figli di Èfraim, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
33 The total of these for the tribe of Ephraim was forty thousand five hundred.	33 censiti della tribù di Èfraim quarantamilacinquecento;
34 Once the pedigrees of Manasseh's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	34 per i figli di Manasse, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:

40 Once the pedigrees of Asher's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	40 Per i figli di Aser, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:

42 Once the pedigrees of Naphtali's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	42 Per i figli di Nèftali, stabilite le loro genealogie secondo le loro famiglie, secondo i loro casati paterni, contando i nomi di quelli dai vent'anni in su, quanti potevano andare in guerra:
43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 censiti della tribù di Nèftali cinquantatremilaquattrocento.
44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.	44 Questi furono i censiti, di cui fecero il censimento Mosè e Aronne e i prìncipi d’Israele, dodici uomini: c'era un uomo per ciascun casato paterno.
45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.	45 E tutti i censiti degli Israeliti, secondo i loro casati paterni, dai vent'anni in su, cioè quanti potevano andare in guerra in Israele,
46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.	46 risultarono registrati in tutto seicentotremilacinquecentocinquanta.
47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.	47 Ma i leviti, secondo la loro tribù paterna, non furono registrati insieme con gli altri.
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	48 Il Signore parlò a Mosè dicendo:
49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,	49 «Solo la tribù di Levi non censirai, né di essa farai il computo tra gli Israeliti;
50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.	50 invece affiderai ai leviti la Dimora della Testimonianza, tutti i suoi accessori e quanto le appartiene. Essi trasporteranno la Dimora e tutti i suoi accessori, vi presteranno servizio e staranno accampati attorno alla Dimora.
51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.	51 Quando la Dimora dovrà muoversi, i leviti la smonteranno; quando la Dimora dovrà accamparsi, i leviti la erigeranno. Se un estraneo si avvicinerà, sarà messo a morte.
52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,	52 Gli Israeliti pianteranno le tende ognuno nel suo campo, ognuno vicino alla sua insegna, secondo le loro schiere.
53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'	53 Ma i leviti pianteranno le tende attorno alla Dimora della Testimonianza; così la mia ira non si abbatterà sulla comunità degli Israeliti. I leviti avranno la cura della Dimora della Testimonianza».
54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.	54 Gli Israeliti eseguirono ogni cosa come il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè: così fecero.
