1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:	1 IL Signore parlò ancora a Mosè, nel deserto di Sinai, nel Tabernacolo della convenenza, nel primo giorno del secondo mese, nell’anno secondo da che i figliuoli d’Israele furono usciti fuor del paese di Egitto, dicendo:

3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;	3 di età da vent’anni in su, tutti coloro che possono andare alla guerra in Israele; annoverateli, tu, ed Aaronne, per le loro schiere.
4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.	4 E siavi con voi un uomo di ciascuna tribù, che sia capo della sua casa paterna.

16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.	16 Costoro erano quelli che si chiamavano alla raunanza, principali delle tribù loro paterne, e capi delle migliaia d’Israele
17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named	17 Mosè adunque ed Aaronne presero seco questi uomini, ch’erano stati nominati per li nomi loro.
18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. The Israelitesestablished their pedigrees by clans and families, and one by one the names of all men of twenty years and overwere recorded.	18 E, a’ calendi del secondo mese, adunarono tutta la raunanza; e le generazioni de’ figliuoli d’Israele furono descritte per le lor nazioni, e per le famiglie loro paterne, contandoli per nome dall’età di vent’anni in su, a testa a testa.
19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.	19 Come il Signore avea comandato a Mosè, egli li annoverò nel deserto di Sinai.
20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	20 E delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome, a testa a testa, d’infra tutti i maschi, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra;
21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 gli annoverati della tribù di Ruben furono quarantaseimila cinquecento.
22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	22 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Simeone, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome, a testa a testa, d’infra tutti i maschi, dall’età di vent’anni in su, tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra;
23 The total of these for the tribe of Simeon was fifty-nine thousand three hundred.	23 gli annoverati della tribù di Simeone furono cinquantanovemila trecento.
24 Once the pedigrees of Gad's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	24 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Gad, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;
25 The total of these for the tribe of Gad was forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.	25 gli annoverati della tribù di Gad furono quarantacinquemila seicencinquanta.
26 Once the pedigrees of Judah's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	26 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Giuda, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;
27 The total of these for the tribe of Judah was seventy-four thousand six hundred.	27 gli annoverati della tribù di Giuda furono settantaquattromila seicento.

32 As regards the descendants of Joseph: once the pedigrees of Ephraim's descendants had beenestablished by clans and families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, wererecorded one by one.	32 De’ figliuoli di Giuseppe; delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Efraim, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;
33 The total of these for the tribe of Ephraim was forty thousand five hundred.	33 gli annoverati della tribù di Efraim furono quarantamila cinquecento.
34 Once the pedigrees of Manasseh's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	34 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Manasse, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;

40 Once the pedigrees of Asher's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	40 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Aser, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne; contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;

42 Once the pedigrees of Naphtali's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	42 Delle generazioni de’ figliuoli di Neftali, per le lor nazioni, e famiglie paterne, contati per nome tutti quelli che potevano andare alla guerra, dall’età di vent’anni in su;
43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 gli annoverati della tribù di Neftali furono cinquantatremila quattrocento
44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.	44 Questi furono gli annoverati, i quali Mosè ed Aaronne annoverarono, insieme co’ principali d’Israele, ch’erano dodici uomini, uno per famiglia paterna.
45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.	45 Così, tutti gli annoverati d’infra i figliuoli d’Israele, per le lor famiglie paterne, dall’età di vent’anni in su, che potevano andare alla guerra,
46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.	46 furono seicentotremila cinquecencinquanta
47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.	47 Ma i Leviti non furono annoverati fra loro secondo la lor tribù paterna;
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	48 perciocchè il Signore avea detto a Mosè:
49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,	49 Sol non annoverar la tribù di Levi, e non levarne la somma per mezzo i figliuoli d’Israele.
50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.	50 Ma ordina i Leviti sopra il Tabernacolo della Testimonianza, e sopra tutti i suoi arredi; e sopra tutte le cose ad esso appartenenti; e portino essi il Tabernacolo e tutti i suoi arredi; e facciano i servigi di esso, e accampinvisi attorno.
51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.	51 E quando il Tabernacolo si dipartirà, mettanlo giù i Leviti; quando altresì si accamperà, rizzinlo i Leviti; e se alcuno straniere vi si appressa, sia fatto morire.
52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,	52 Or accampinsi i figliuoli d’Israele, ciascuno nel suo quartiere, e ciascuno presso alla sua bandiera, per le loro schiere.
53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'	53 Ma accampinsi i Leviti intorno al Tabernacolo della Testimonianza; acciocchè non vi sia ira contro alla raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele; e facciano i Leviti la funzione del Tabernacolo della Testimonianza.
54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.	54 E i figliuoli d’Israele fecero interamente come il Signore avea comandato
