1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai, nella tenda del convegno, il primo del secondo mese, nel secondo anno dalla loro uscita dalla terra d'Egitto, e disse:
2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.	2 "Fate il censimento di tutta la comunità dei figli d'Israele, per famiglie e case paterne, contando i nomi di tutti i maschi, secondo le loro teste,
3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;	3 da vent'anni in su, chiunque può essere schierato nell'esercito in Israele: li passerete in rassegna per schiere, tu e Aronne.
4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.	4 Sarà con voi un uomo per tribù, un uomo che sia a capo della sua casa paterna.

11 For Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni.	11 per Beniamino: Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni;

13 For Asher, Pagiel son of Ochran.	13 per Aser: Paghiel, figlio di Ocran;
14 For Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel.	14 per Gad: Eliasaf, figlio di Deuel;
15 For Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.'	15 per Neftali: Achira, figlio di Enan.
16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.	16 Questi sono i chiamati della comunità, capi delle tribù dei loro padri, alla testa dei gruppi d'Israele".
17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named	17 Mosè ed Aronne presero quegli uomini che erano stati designati per nome,
18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. 20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	20 I figli di Ruben, primogenito d'Israele, i loro discendenti, per famiglie e case paterne, contando tutti i maschi uno per uno, da vent'anni in su, di chi poteva essere schierato nell'esercito:

22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.	22 I figli di Simeone, i loro discendenti, recensiti per famiglie e case paterne, contando tutti i maschi uno per uno, da vent'anni in su di chi poteva essere schierato nell'esercito:

43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 i recensiti della tribù di Neftali furono 53.400.
44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.	44 Questi furono i recensiti da Mosè, con Aronne e i dodici capi d'Israele, uno per ogni casa paterna.
45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.	45 Tutti i figli d'Israele, recensiti per casa paterna, da vent'anni in su, che potevano essere schierati nell'esercito:
46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.	46 in totale furono 603.550.
47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.	47 Ma tra loro non furono recensiti i leviti, secondo la tribù dei loro padri.
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	48 Il Signore aveva detto a Mosè:
49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,	49 "Solo la tribù di Levi non passerai in rassegna e non li recensirai tra i figli d'Israele.
50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.	50 Ma disponi che i leviti si prendano cura della dimora della testimonianza, di tutti i suoi arredi e di tutto quello che ha: trasporteranno la dimora e tutti i suoi arredi, faranno il servizio e si accamperanno intorno alla dimora.
51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.	51 Quando la dimora dovrà spostarsi, i leviti la smonteranno, e quando la dimora si accamperà i leviti la erigeranno. Ogni estraneo che si avvicinerà sarà messo a morte.
52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,	52 I figli d'Israele si accamperanno ognuno nel proprio accampamento, ognuno presso la propria insegna, secondo le loro schiere.
53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'	53 I leviti si accamperanno intorno alla dimora della testimonianza, in modo che non ci sia indignazione contro la comunità dei figli d'Israele. I leviti custodiranno il servizio della dimora della testimonianza".
54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.	54 I figli d'Israele si conformarono a tutto quello che il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè, e così fecero.
