¹ [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.	¹ Salmo di Asaf CERTAMENTE Iddio è buono ad Israele, A quelli che son puri di cuore.
² My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,	² Ora, quant’è a me, quasi che incapparono i miei piedi; Come nulla mancò che i miei passi non isdrucciolassero.
³ envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.	³ Perciocchè io portava invidia agl’insensati, Veggendo la prosperità degli empi.
⁴ For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;	⁴ Perciocchè non vi sono alcuni legami alla lor morte; E la lor forza è prosperosa.
⁵ exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.	⁵ Quando gli altri uomini sono in travagli, essi non vi son punto; E non ricevono battiture col rimanente degli uomini.
⁶ So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.	⁶ Perciò, la superbia li cinge a guisa di collana; La violenza li involge come un vestimento.
⁷ From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.	⁷ Gli occhi escono loro fuori per lo grasso; Avanzano le immaginazioni del cuor loro.
⁸ Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.	⁸ Son dissoluti, e per malizia ragionano di oppressare; Parlano da alto.
⁹ Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.	⁹ Mettono la lor bocca dentro al cielo, E la lor lingua passeggia per la terra.
¹⁰ That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,	¹⁰ Perciò, il popolo di Dio riviene a questo, Veggendo che l’acqua gli è spremuta a bere a pien calice,
¹¹ saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'	¹¹ E dice: Come può essere che Iddio sappia ogni cosa, E che vi sia conoscimento nell’Altissimo?
¹² That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.	¹² Ecco, costoro son empi, e pur godono pace e tranquillità in perpetuo; Ed accrescono le lor facoltà.
¹³ Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?	¹³ Indarno adunque in vero ho nettato il mio cuore, Ed ho lavate le mie mani nell’innocenza.
¹⁴ When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,	¹⁴ Poichè son battuto tuttodì, Ed ogni mattina il mio gastigamento si rinnuova
¹⁵ had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.	¹⁵ Se io dico: Io ragionerò così; Ecco, io son disleale inverso la generazione de’ tuoi figliuoli.
¹⁶ So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!	¹⁶ Io ho adunque pensato di volere intender questo; Ma la cosa mi è parsa molto molesta.
¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.	¹⁷ Infino a tanto che sono entrato ne’ santuari di Dio; Ed ho considerato il fine di coloro.
¹⁸ You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.	¹⁸ Certo, tu li metti in isdruccioli; Tu li trabocchi in ruine.
¹⁹ How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!	¹⁹ Come sono eglino stati distrutti in un momento! Come son venuti meno, e sono stati consumati per casi spaventevoli!
²⁰ Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.	²⁰ Son come un sogno, dopo che l’uomo si è destato; O Signore, quando tu ti risveglierai, tu sprezzerai la lor vana apparenza
²¹ My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,	²¹ Quando il mio cuore era inacerbito, Ed io era punto nelle reni;
²² I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.	²² Io era insensato, e non aveva conoscimento; Io era inverso te simile alle bestie.
²³ Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;	²³ Ma pure io sono stato del continuo teco; Tu mi hai preso per la man destra.
²⁴ you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.	²⁴ Tu mi condurrai per lo tuo consiglio, E poi mi riceverai in gloria;
²⁵ Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.	²⁵ Chi è per me in cielo, fuor che te? Io non voglio altri che te in terra.
²⁶ My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!	²⁶ La mia carne ed il mio cuore erano venuti meno: Ma Iddio è la rocca del mio cuore, e la mia parte in eterno.
²⁷ Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,	²⁷ Perciocchè, ecco, quelli che si allontanano da te periranno; Tu distruggerai ogni uomo che fornicando si svia da te.
²⁸ whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.	²⁸ Ma quant’è a me, egli mi è buono di accostarmi a Dio; Io ho posta nel Signore Iddio la mia confidanza, Per raccontar tutte le opere sue
