Psalms 73

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.	1 Salmo. Di Asaf. Di certo, Dio è buono con i retti, il Signore con i puri di cuore.
2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,	2 Per poco non inciampavano i miei piedi, per un nulla vacillavano i miei passi:
3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.	3 infatti avevo preso ad invidiare i prepotenti, a osservare la prosperità dei malvagi.
4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;	4 Per essi non c'è sofferenza, sano e ben nutrito è il loro ventre;
5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.	5 non si trovano nei travagli dei mortali e non vengono colpiti come tutti gli altri uomini.
6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.	6 Al contrario, quale collana li circonda l'orgoglio, quale vestito li ricopre la violenza;
7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.	7 come da grasso esce la loro iniquità, traboccano i perversi pensieri del loro cuore.
8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.	8 Sogghignano, parlano con malizia, con prepotenza fanno minacce dall'alto;
9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.	9 levano la loro bocca fino ai cieli e la loro lingua percorre la terra.
10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,	10 Perciò siedono in alto e la piena delle acque non li raggiunge,
11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'	11 e dicono: "Che cosa ne sa Dio? C'è forse conoscenza nell'Altissimo?".
12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.	12 Ecco chi sono gli empi: eternamente tranquilli, non fanno che accrescere la loro potenza.
13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?	13 Invano allora ho conservato puro il mio cuore, e nell'innocenza ho lavato le mie mani.
14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,	14 Perciò sono rimasto colpito tutto il giorno e castigato ogni mattina.
15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.	15 Stavo quasi per dire: "Voglio parlare come loro". Ma avrei rinnegato così la generazione dei tuoi figli.
16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!	16 Io penso dunque a questo enigma ma è troppo complicato per i miei occhi.
17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.	17 Finché non entrai nel santuario di Dio e compresi qual era la loro fine.
18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.	18 Di certo, tu li poni su terreno sdrucciolevole e così li fai cadere in rovina.
19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!	19 Come si sono ridotti in macerie in un istante! Sono venuti meno, disfatti dal terrore!
20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.	20 Come un sogno al risveglio, o Signore, al tuo sorgere fai svanire la loro figura.
21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,	21 Sì, s'inaspriva il mio cuore, rimanevano trafitti i miei reni,
22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.	22 essendo io stolto, ignorante, un vero animale davanti a te.
23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;	23 Eppure io sono sempre con te; tu mi hai preso per la mia destra.
24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.	24 Con il tuo consiglio mi guidi, e poi nella gloria tu mi prendi.
25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.	25 Chi ho io nei cieli? Fuori di te, nessun altro io bramo sulla terra.
26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!	26 Può venir meno la mia carne e anche il mio cuore, roccia del mio cuore e mia porzione è Dio in eterno!
27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,	27 Poiché ecco: quelli che s'allontanano da te periscono; tu distruggi chi si mostra a te infedele.
28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.	28 Quanto a me, il mio bene è star solo vicino a Dio. Nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio, perché possa narrare tutte le sue gesta.
