Psalms 73

1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.	1 [Ein Psalm Asafs.] Lauter Güte ist Gott für Israel, für alle Menschen mit reinem Herzen.
2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,	2 Ich aber - fast wären meine Füße gestrauchelt, beinahe wäre ich gefallen.
3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.	3 Denn ich habe mich über die Prahler ereifert, als ich sah, dass es diesen Frevlern so gut ging.
4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;	4 Sie leiden ja keine Qualen, ihr Leib ist gesund und wohlgenährt.
5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.	5 Sie kennen nicht die Mühsal der Sterblichen, sind nicht geplagt wie andere Menschen.
6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.	6 Darum ist Hochmut ihr Halsschmuck, wie ein Gewand umhüllt sie Gewalttat.
7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.	7 Sie sehen kaum aus den Augen vor Fett, ihr Herz läuft über von bösen Plänen.
8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.	8 Sie höhnen, und was sie sagen, ist schlecht; sie sind falsch und reden von oben herab.
9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.	9 Sie reißen ihr Maul bis zum Himmel auf und lassen auf Erden ihrer Zunge freien Lauf.
10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,	10 Darum wendet sich das Volk ihnen zu und schlürft ihre Worte in vollen Zügen.
11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'	11 Sie sagen: «Wie sollte Gott das merken? Wie kann der Höchste das wissen?»
12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.	12 Wahrhaftig, so sind die Frevler: Immer im Glück, häufen sie Reichtum auf Reichtum.
13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?	13 Also hielt ich umsonst mein Herz rein und wusch meine Hände in Unschuld.
14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,	14 Und doch war ich alle Tage geplagt und wurde jeden Morgen gezüchtigt.
15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.	15 Hätte ich gesagt: «Ich will reden wie sie», dann hätte ich an deinen Kindern Verrat geübt.
16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!	16 Da sann ich nach, um das zu begreifen; es war eine Qual für mich,
17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.	17 bis ich dann eintrat ins Heiligtum Gottes und begriff, wie sie enden.
18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.	18 Ja, du stellst sie auf schlüpfrigen Grund, du stürzt sie in Täuschung und Trug.
19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!	19 Sie werden plötzlich zunichte, werden dahingerafft und nehmen ein schreckliches Ende,
20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.	20 wie ein Traum, der beim Erwachen verblasst, dessen Bild man vergisst, wenn man aufsteht.
21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,	21 Mein Herz war verbittert, mir bohrte der Schmerz in den Nieren;
22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.	22 ich war töricht und ohne Verstand, war wie ein Stück Vieh vor dir.
23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;	23 Ich aber bleibe immer bei dir, du hältst mich an meiner Rechten.
24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.	24 Du leitest mich nach deinem Ratschluss und nimmst mich am Ende auf in Herrlichkeit.
25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.	25 Was habe ich im Himmel außer dir? Neben dir erfreut mich nichts auf der Erde.
26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!	26 Auch wenn mein Leib und mein Herz verschmachten, Gott ist der Fels meines Herzens und mein Anteil auf ewig.
27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,	27 Ja, wer dir fern ist, geht zugrunde; du vernichtest alle, die dich treulos verlassen.
28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.	28 Ich aber - Gott nahe zu sein ist mein Glück. Ich setze auf Gott, den Herrn, mein Vertrauen. Ich will all deine Taten verkünden.
