1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.	1 Salmo di intelligenza: di Asaph. E perchè, o Dio ci hai tu rigettati per sempre, si è infiammato il tuo sdegno contro le pecorelle della tua greggia?
2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,	2 Ricordati della tua congregazione, che tua fu fin da principio. Tu comperasti il dominio di tua eredità: il monte di Sion fu il luogo di tua abitazione.
3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.	3 Alza per sempre il tuo braccio contro la loro superbia: quanti mali ha commesso il nemico nel santuario!
4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;	4 E color che ti odiano se ne vantarono nel luogo stesso delle tue sommita.
5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.	5 Hanno poste (e non v' han fatto riflessione) le loro insegne; le insegne sulla sommità del tempio, come ad un capo di strada.
6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.	6 Hanno similmente spezzate con accette le sue porte, come si fa degli alberi nella foresta: colle scure, e colle accette lo hanno atterrato.
7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.	7 Han dato fuoco al tuo santuario: han profanato il tabernacolo, che tu avevi sopra la terra.
8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.	8 Ha detto in cuor suo tutta la loro nazione: Leviam di sopra la terra tutti i giorni consagrati al culto di Dio.
9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.	9 E noi non veggiam que' nostri prodigj, né v' ha pia alcun profeta, ed egli più non ci riconosce.
10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,	10 E fino a quando, o Dio, insulterà l'inimico, e l'avversario bestemmierà continuamente il tuo nome?
11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'	11 E perché ritiri tu la tua mano? tira fuor dal tuo seno la tua destra una volta per sempre.
12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.	12 Ma Dio, il quale da' secoli è nostro Re ha operato salute nel mezzo della terra.
13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?	13 Tu desti col tuo potere saldezza al mare: tu le teste de' dragoni conculcasti nelle acque.
14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,	14 Tu spezzasti le teste del dragone; gli facesti preda de' popoli dell'Etiopia.
15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.	15 Tu apristi le rupi in fontane, e torrenti: tu asciugasti i fiumi nella loro forza.
16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!	16 Tuo è il giorno e tua è la notte: tu creasti l'aurora, ed il sole.
17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.	17 Tu facesti la terra, e i suoi confini: opera tua sono e l'estate, e la primavera.
18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.	18 Di queste cose ricordati. Il nemico ha detti improperj contro il Signore: e un popolo stolto ha bestemmiato il tuo nome.
19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!	19 Non dare in poter delle bestie le anime di quelli, che te onorano, e non ti scordar per sempre dell'anime de' tuoi poveri.
20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.	20 Volgi lo sguardo alla tua alleanza; perocché i più oscuri nomini della terra hanno copia di case iniquamente occupate.
21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,	21 L'uomo umiliato non si parta (da te) svergognato: il povero, e il bisognoso daran lodi al tuo nome.
22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.	22 Levati su, o Signore, giudica la tua causa: ricordati degli oltraggi fatti a te, di quelli, che un popolo stolto ti fa tutto giorno.
23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;	23 Non ti scordare delle voci de' tuoi nemici: la soperbia di color, che ti odiano va sempre in su.
24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.
25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.
26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!
27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,
28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.
