[Prayer of someone afflicted, who in misfortune pours out sorrows before Yahweh] Yahweh, hear myprayer, let my cry for help reach you.1 To David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and bless his holy name, all that is within me.
Do not turn away your face from me when I am in trouble; bend down and listen to me, when I cal ,be quick to answer me!2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his recompenses.
For my days are vanishing like smoke, my bones burning like an oven;3 He forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your infirmities.
like grass struck by blight, my heart is withering, I forget to eat my meals.4 He redeems your life from destruction. He crowns you with mercy and compassion.
From the effort of voicing my groans my bones stick out through my skin.5 He satisfies your desire with good things. Your youth will be renewed like that of the eagle.
I am like a desert-owl in the wastes, a screech-owl among ruins,6 The Lord accomplishes mercies, and his judgment is for all who patiently endure injuries.
I keep vigil and moan like a lone bird on a roof.7 He has made his ways known to Moses, his will to the sons of Israel.
Al day long my enemies taunt me, those who once praised me now use me as a curse.8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, patient and full of mercy.
Ashes are the food that I eat, my drink is mingled with tears,9 He will not be angry forever, and he will not threaten for eternity.
because of your fury and anger, since you have raised me up only to cast me away;10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, and he has not repaid us according to our iniquities.
my days are like a fading shadow, I am withering up like grass.11 For according to the height of the heavens above the earth, so has he reinforced his mercy toward those who fear him.
But you, Yahweh, are enthroned for ever, each generation in turn remembers you.12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our iniquities from us.
Rise up, take pity on Zion! the time has come to have mercy on her, the moment has come;13 As a father is compassionate to his sons, so has the Lord been compassionate to those who fear him.
for your servants love her very stones, are moved to pity by her dust.14 For he knows our form. He has called to mind that we are dust.
Then wil the nations revere the name of Yahweh, and al the kings of the earth your glory;15 Man: his days are like hay. Like the flower of the field, so will he flourish.
when Yahweh builds Zion anew, he will be seen in his glory;16 For the spirit in him will pass away, and it will not remain, and he will know his place no longer.
he wil turn to hear the prayer of the destitute, and wil not treat their prayer with scorn.17 But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity, and even unto eternity, upon those who fear him. And his justice is with the sons of the sons,
This shall be put on record for a future generation, and a people yet to be born shal praise God:18 with those who serve his covenant and have been mindful of his commandments by doing them.
Yahweh has leaned down from the heights of his sanctuary, has looked down from heaven to earth,19 The Lord has prepared his throne in heaven, and his kingdom will rule over all.
to listen to the sighing of the captive, and set free those condemned to death,20 Bless the Lord, all you his Angels: powerful in virtue, doing his word, in order to heed the voice of his discourse.
to proclaim the name of Yahweh in Zion, his praise in Jerusalem;21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts: his ministers who do his will.
nations wil gather together, and kingdoms to worship Yahweh.22 Bless the Lord, all his works: in every place of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
In my journeying my strength has failed on the way;
let me know the short time I have left. Do not take me away before half my days are done, for youryears run on from age to age.
Long ago you laid earth's foundations, the heavens are the work of your hands.
They pass away but you remain; they al wear out like a garment, like outworn clothes you changethem;
but you never alter, and your years never end.
The children of those who serve you wil dwel secure, and their descendants live on in yourpresence.
