Job 18

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:	1 Bildad de Chua falou então nestes termos:
2 What prevents you others from saying something? Think -- for it is our turn to speak!	2 Quando acabarás de falar, e terás a sabedoria de nos deixar dizer?
3 Why do you regard us as animals, considering us no more than brutes?	3 Por que nos consideras como animais, e por que passamos por estúpidos a teus olhos?
4 Tear yourself to pieces if you will, but the world, for al your rage, wil not turn to desert, the rocks wilnot shift from their places.	4 Tu que te rasgas em teu furor, é preciso que por tua causa a terra seja abandonada, e que os rochedos mudem de lugar?
5 The light of the wicked must certainly be put out, the lamp that gives him light cease to shine.	5 Sim, a luz do mau se apagará, e a flama de seu fogo cessará de alumiar.
6 In his tent the light is dimmed, the lamp that shone on him is snuffed.	6 A luz obscurece em sua tenda, e sua lâmpada sobre ele se apagará;
7 His vigorous stride loses its power, his own designs falter.	7 seus passos firmes serão cortados, seus próprios desígnios os farão tropeçar.
8 For into the net his own feet carry him, he walks into the snares.	8 Seus pés se prendem numa rede, e ele anda sobre malhas.
9 A spring grips him by the heel, a trap snaps shut, and he is caught.	9 A armadilha o segura pelo calcanhar, um laço o aperta.
10 Hidden in the ground is a snare to catch him, pitfal s lie across his path.	10 Uma corda se esconde sob a terra para pegá-lo, uma armadilha, ao longo da vereda.
11 Terrors threaten him from al sides following him step by step.	11 De todas as partes temores o amedrontam, e perseguem-no passo a passo.
12 Hunger becomes his companion, by his side Disaster stands.	12 A calamidade vem faminta sobre ele, a infelicidade está postada a seu lado.
13 Disease devours his skin, Death's First-Born gnaws his limbs.	13 A pele de seu corpo é devorada, o filho mais velho da morte devora-lhe os membros;
14 He wil be torn from the shelter of his tent, and you wil drag him to the King of Terrors.	14 é arrancado da tenda, onde se sentia seguro, levam-no ao rei dos terrores.
15 You can live in the tent, since it is no longer his, and brimstone wil be scattered on his sheepfold.	15 Podes estabelecer-te em sua tenda: ele não existe mais; o enxofre é espalhado em seu domínio.
16 Below, his roots dry out and his branches are blasted above.	16 Por baixo suas raízes secam, e por cima seus ramos definham.
17 His memory fades from the land, his name is forgotten in the countryside.	17 Sua memória apaga-se da terra, nada mais lembra o seu nome na região.
18 Driven from the light into the darkness, he is banished from the world,	18 É arrojado da luz para as trevas, é desterrado do mundo.
19 without issue or posterity among his own people or a single survivor where he used to live.	19 Não tem descendente nem posteridade em sua tribo, nem sobrevivente algum em sua morada.
20 His end appals the west and fills the east with terror.	20 O Ocidente está estupefacto com sua sorte, o Oriente treme diante dela.
21 Such indeed is the fate of the places where wickedness dwel s -- the home of everyone who knowsnot God.	21 Eis o que acontece com as tendas dos ímpios, os lugares habitados pelo homem que não conhece Deus.
