1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.	1 Khiram, re di Tiro, inviò messaggeri David e anche legname di cedro, muratori e carpentieri per edificargli una casa.
2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.	2 Allora riconobbe David che Jahvè lo, aveva stabilito re su Israele; il suo regno infatti, a causa del suo popolo Israele, si era grandemente elevato.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.	3 David sposò ancora donne a Gerusalemme e generò ancora figli e figlie.
4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 Questi sono i nomi dei figli che ebbe a Gerusalemme: Shamma Shobab, Natan, Salomone,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,	5 Jibkhar, Elishua, Elpelet,

7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.	7 Elishama, Beeliada ed Elifelet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.	8 I Filistei seppero che David era stato unto re su tutto Israele e salirono in massa per cercarlo. David lo seppe e mosse verso di loro.
9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	9 I Filistei nel frattempo si erano avvicinati, spargendosi per la valle dei Refaim.
10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'	10 David allora interrogò Dio: «Devo salire contro i Filistei e li metterai nella mia mano?» Jahvè gli rispose: «Sali pure e io te li metterò in mano»
11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.	11 Quelli salirono verso Baal-Perazim, dove David li sconfisse ed esclamò: «Dio con la mia mano ha spento una breccia tra i miei nemici come una breccia prodotta dall’acqua!» Perciò quel luogo si chiama Baal-Perazim.
12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.	12 I Filistei vi abbandonarono i loro dèi e David li fece bruciare sul fuoco.
13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.	13 Ora, i Filistei si sparsero di nuovo per la valle.
14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	14 David interrogò un’altra volta Dio e Dio gli rispose: «Non salire dietro loro, ma aggirali in distanza e poi li raggiungerai dalla parte di Bechaim.
15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	15 Esci all’attacco, appena udrai un rumore di passi sulle cime di pechaim: Dio infatti uscirà innanzi a te per sconfiggere l’accampamento dei Filistei».
16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 David fece come Dio aveva comandato; così poté sbaragliare l’esercito dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Gezer.
17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.	17 La fama di David si divulgò in tutte le regioni, mentre Jahvè spandeva il terrore su tutte le genti.
