1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.	1 - Iram, re di Tiro, mandò a Davide messaggeri e legna di cedro e artigiani per fabbricare pareti e lavorare il legno, affinchè edificassero per lui una casa.
2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.	2 Conobbe Davide che il Signore l'aveva confermato re d'Israele e che avrebbe innalzato il suo regno al disopra del suo popolo Israele.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.	3 Davide si prese ancora a Gerusalemme altre mogli e generò figli e figlie.
4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 Ecco i nomi di quelli che gli nacquero in Gerusalemme: Samua, Sobad, Natan, Salomone,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,	5 Jebaar, Elisua, Elifalet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	6 Noga, Nafeg, Jafia,
7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.	7 Elisama, Baaliada e Elifalet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.	8 Avendo inteso i Filistei che Davide era stato consacrato re sopra tutto Israele, salirono tutti in cerca di lui; il che avendo udito Davide, uscì incontro a loro.
9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	9 I Filistei vennero e si sparsero nella valle di Rafaim
10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'	10 e Davide consultò il Signore dicendo: «Salirò io contro i Filistei? Me li darai tu nelle mani?». Il Signore gli rispose: «Sali, e io li darò in tua mano».
11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.	11 Essendo essi venuti in Baalfarasim, Davide ve li battè e disse: «Iddio ha disperso con la mia mano i miei nemici come si disperdono le acque». E perciò a quel luogo fu dato il nome di Baalfarasim.
12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.	12 Essi aveano abbandonato colà i loro dèi, che Davide comandò di abbruciare.
13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.	13 Anche un'altra volta i Filistei fecero una irruzione e si sparsero nella valle.
14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	14 Davide consultò Iddio, e Dio gli disse: «Non salire dietro ad essi, ma allontanati da loro e va' contro essi dalla parte opposta dei peri.
15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	15 Quando sentirai il rumore di chi cammina sopra le cime dei peri, allora moverai all'attacco. Poichè Iddio è uscito dinanzi a te, perchè tu abbia a colpire l'accampamento dei Filistei».
16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 Davide fece quanto Dio gli avea comandato e percosse l'accampamento dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Gazera.
17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.	17 La fama di Davide si sparse in tutte quelle regioni e il Signore lo rese temibile a tutte le genti.
