1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.	1 Chiram, re di Tiro, inviò messaggeri a Davide con legno di cedro, muratori e carpentieri per costruirgli una casa.
2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.	2 Davide seppe allora che il Signore lo confermava re d’Israele e che il suo regno era molto esaltato per amore d’Israele, suo popolo.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.	3 Davide prese altre mogli a Gerusalemme e generò altri figli e figlie.
4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 I nomi di quelli che gli furono generati a Gerusalemme sono: Sammùa, Sobab, Natan, Salomone,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,	5 Ibcar, Elisùa, Elifèlet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	6 Noga, Nefeg, Iafìa,
7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.	7 Elisamà, Beeliadà ed Elifèlet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.	8 Quando i Filistei seppero che Davide era stato unto re di tutto Israele, salirono tutti per dargli la caccia. Appena Davide ne fu informato, uscì loro incontro.
9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	9 Vennero i Filistei e invasero la valle dei Refaìm.
10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'	10 Davide consultò Dio, chiedendo: «Devo andare contro i Filistei? Li metterai nelle mie mani?». Il Signore gli rispose: «Va’ pure; li metterò nelle tue mani».
11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.	11 Quelli vennero a Baal-Perasìm, dove Davide li sconfisse. Davide disse: «Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia tra i miei nemici, come una breccia aperta dalle acque». Per questo chiamò quel luogo Baal-Perasìm.
12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.	12 I Filistei vi abbandonarono i loro idoli e Davide ordinò: «Brucino tra le fiamme!».
13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.	13 I Filistei tornarono di nuovo a invadere la valle.
14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	14 Davide consultò ancora Dio, che gli rispose: «Non seguirli; aggirali e raggiungili dalla parte di Becaìm.
15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	15 Quando sentirai un rumore di passi sulla cima di Becaìm, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio uscirà davanti a te, per colpire l’accampamento dei Filistei».
16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 Davide fece come Dio gli aveva ordinato e colpì l’accampamento dei Filistei da Gàbaon fino a Ghezer.
17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.	17 La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva terribile fra tutte le genti.
