NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.	1 Jiram, el rey de Tiro, envió a David mensajeros con maderas de cedro, albañiles y carpinteros, para edificarle una casa.
2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.	2 Así David reconoció que el Señor lo había afianzado como rey sobre Israel, porque su reino había sido enaltecido a causa de su pueblo Israel.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.	3 David tomó como esposas a otras mujeres en Jerusalén y tuvo más hijos e hijas.
4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 Estos son los nombres de los hijos que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán y Salomón,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,	5 Ibjar, Elisúa y Elpálet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	6 Nogá, Néfeg y Iafía,
7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.	7 Elisamá, Beeliadá y Elifélet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.	8 Cuando los filisteos oyeron que habían ungido a David como rey de todo Israel, subieron para atacarlo. Pero David lo supo y les salió al encuentro.
9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	9 Los filisteos vinieron y se desplegaron por el valle de Refaím.
10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'	10 David entonces consultó a Dios: «¿Debo atacar a los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos?». Y el Señor le respondió: «¡Sube, y yo los entregaré en tus manos!».
11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.	11 Ellos subieron a Baal Perasím, y allí David los derrotó. Entonces dijo: «Dios ha abierto ante mí una brecha entre mis enemigos, como una brecha abierta por las aguas». Por eso se llamó a ese lugar Baal Perasím –que significa «Señor de las Brechas»–.
12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.	12 Los filisteos abandonaron allí a sus dioses, y David dijo: «¡Que sean arrojados al fuego!».
13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.	13 Los filisteos volvieron a desplegarse por el valle.
14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	14 David consultó nuevamente a Dios, y él le respondió: «¡No subas a perseguirlos! Da una vuelta por detrás de ellos y enfréntalos desde el lado de las balsameras.
15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	15 Cuando oigas ruidos de pasos sobre la copa de las balsameras, ataca decididamente, porque Dios saldrá delante de ti para derrotar al ejército de los filisteos».
16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 David hizo lo que el Señor le había ordenado y derrotó al ejército de los filisteos, desde Gabaón hasta Guézer.
17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.	17 La fama de David se extendió por todas las regiones, porque el Señor lo hizo temible delante de todos los pueblos.
