2 LORD, my God, I call out by day; at night I cry aloud in your presence.	2 Jahvè, a te grido di giorno e il mio clamore di notte ti è innanzi.
3 Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry.	3 Giunga al tuo cospetto la mia preghiera, piega il tuo orecchio al mio clamore.
4 For my soul is filled with troubles; my life draws near to Sheol.	4 Poiché la mia anima è sazia di mali e la mia vita ha toccato lo Sheol.
5 I am reckoned with those who go down to the pit; I am weak, without strength.	5 Già passo per uno di coloro che discendono nella fossa, sono come uomo senza aiuto.
6 My couch is among the dead, with the slain who lie in the grave. You remember them no more; they are cut off from your care.	6 Fra i morti è il mio giaciglio, pari ai trafitti che giacciono nella tomba, che tu non ricordi più oltre e sono recisi dalla tua mano.
7 You plunged me into the bottom of the pit, into the darkness of the abyss.	7 Mi deponi nel pozzo più fondo, in caverne tenebrose, in abissi.
8 Your wrath lies heavy upon me; all your waves crash over me. Selah	8 Su di me si è abbattuto il tuo furore, con tutti i tuoi frangenti mi opprimi.
9 Because of you my friends shun me; you make me loathsome to them; Caged in, I cannot escape;	9 Hai allontanato da me i miei conoscenti, mi hai reso un abominio per loro. Sono chiuso e non posso uscire;
10 my eyes grow dim from trouble. All day I call on you, LORD; I stretch out my hands to you.	10 l’occhio si annebbia per il dolore. Ti invoco, o Jahvè, tutto il giorno, stendo a te le mie palme.
11 Do you work wonders for the dead? Do the shades arise and praise you? Selah	11 Forse per i morti farai meraviglie? O i Refaim sorgeranno a lodarti?
12 Is your love proclaimed in the grave, your fidelity in the tomb?	12 Si narrerà nella tomba la tua bontà? la tua fedeltà nell’Abaddon?
13 Are your marvels declared in the darkness, your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?	13 Sarà fatta nota nelle tenebre la tua meraviglia? e la tua giustizia nella terra d’oblio?
14 But I cry out to you, LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.	14 Ora io a te, Jahvè, grido e di mattino la mia preghiera a te si presenta.
15 Why do you reject me, LORD? Why hide your face from me?	15 Perché, o Jahvè, respingi la mia anima? nascondi il tuo volto da me?
16 I am mortally afflicted since youth; lifeless, I suffer your terrible blows.	16 Misero sono io e sfinito fino dalla giovinezza, ho addosso i tuoi terrori così da esserne agghiacciato!
17 Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have reduced me to silence.	17 Su di me sono passati i tuoi furori, i tuoi spaventi mi hanno annientato.
18 All the day they surge round like a flood; from every side they close in on me.	18 Mi avvolgono come acque senza tregua, su di me si stringono in massa compatta.
19 Because of you companions shun me; my only friend is darkness.	19 Hai allontanato da me l’amico e il compagno, i miei conoscenti mi hanno dimenticato.
