² Shepherd of Israel, listen, guide of the flock of Joseph! From your throne upon the cherubim reveal yourself	² Acclamate esultanti Iddio, nostro aiuto, giubilate davanti al Dio di Giacobbe!
³ to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your power, come to save us.	³ Intonate l'inno e sonate il timpano, l'arpa soave con la cetra.
⁴ O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.	⁴ Date fiato nel novilunio, alla tromba, nel giorno insigne della vostra solennità.
⁵ LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger while your people pray?	⁵ Perch'è una legge in Israele e un comando del Dio di Giacobbe:
⁶ You have fed them the bread of tears, made them drink tears in abundance.	⁶ una norma ne fece per Giuseppe, quando uscì dalla terra d' Egitto. Una parlata sconosciuta io odo:
⁷ You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors; our enemies deride us.	⁷ «Sgravai da' pesi le tue spalle: le tue mani han finito di servir con la corba.
⁸ O LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.	⁸ Nella tribolazione m'invocasti e t'ho liberato, ti risposi d'entro la fosca procella, ti misi alla prova presso l'acqua della contradizione.
⁹ You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove away the nations and planted it.	⁹ Ascolta, o mio popolo, e t'ammonirò; o Israele, mi dessi tu ascolto!
¹⁰ You cleared the ground; it took root and filled the land.	¹⁰ Non sarà presso di te un dio novello, nè adorerai un dio straniero.
¹¹ The mountains were covered by its shadow, the cedars of God by its branches.	¹¹ Io sono infatti il Signore, Iddio tuo, che ti trassi fuori dalla terra d'Egitto: spalanca la tua bocca, e io la riempirò!».
¹² It sent out boughs as far as the sea, shoots as far as the river.	¹² Ma non ascoltò il mio popolo la mia voce, e Israele non badò a me.
¹³ Why have you broken down the walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?	¹³ E gli abbandonai alla durezza del loro cuore, che si conducessero a loro capriccio.
¹⁴ The boar from the forest strips the vine; the beast of the field feeds upon it.	¹⁴ Oh! se il popol mio m'avesse ascoltato, se Israele nelle mie vie avesse camminato!
¹⁵ Turn again, LORD of hosts; look down from heaven and see; Attend to this vine,	¹⁵ Come un nulla avrei forse umiliato i suoi nemicie sui suoi avversari avrei steso la mia mano.
¹⁶ the shoot your right hand has planted.	¹⁶ I nemici del Signore l'avrebber piaggiato, e la sua durata sarebbe stata eterna.
¹⁷ Those who would burn or cut it down-- may they perish at your rebuke.	¹⁷ E l'avrei cibato di fior di frumentoe di miele [stillante] dalla roccia l'avrei saziato.
¹⁸ May your help be with the man at your right hand, with the one whom you once made strong.
¹⁹ Then we will not withdraw from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.
²⁰ LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
