For the leader; according to "Lilies." Eduth. A psalm of Asaph. | 1 [For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth |
Shepherd of Israel, listen, guide of the flock of Joseph! From your throne upon the cherubim reveal yourself | 2 over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help. |
to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your power, come to save us. | 3 God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe. |
O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. | 4 Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer? |
LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger while your people pray? | 5 You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink. |
You have fed them the bread of tears, made them drink tears in abundance. | 6 You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us. |
You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors; our enemies deride us. | 7 God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe. |
O LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. | 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations; |
You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove away the nations and planted it. | 9 you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country. |
You cleared the ground; it took root and filled the land. | 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches, |
The mountains were covered by its shadow, the cedars of God by its branches. | 11 its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River. |
It sent out boughs as far as the sea, shoots as far as the river. | 12 Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes, |
Why have you broken down the walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? | 13 boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it. |
The boar from the forest strips the vine; the beast of the field feeds upon it. | 14 God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine; |
Turn again, LORD of hosts; look down from heaven and see; Attend to this vine, | 15 protect what your own hand has planted. |
the shoot your right hand has planted. | 16 They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them. |
Those who would burn or cut it down-- may they perish at your rebuke. | 17 May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself! |
May your help be with the man at your right hand, with the one whom you once made strong. | 18 Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name. |
Then we will not withdraw from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. | 19 God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe. |
LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. |
