For the leader; according to "Lilies." Eduth. A psalm of Asaph.1 Unto the end, for them that shall he changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm.
Shepherd of Israel, listen, guide of the flock of Joseph! From your throne upon the cherubim reveal yourself2 Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth
to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Stir up your power, come to save us.3 before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasses. Stir up thy might, and come to save us.
O LORD of hosts, restore us; Let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.4 Convert us, O God: and shew us thy face, and we shall be saved.
LORD of hosts, how long will you burn with anger while your people pray?5 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant?
You have fed them the bread of tears, made them drink tears in abundance.6 How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure?
You have left us to be fought over by our neighbors; our enemies deride us.7 Thou hast made us to be a contradiction to our neighbours: and our enemies have scoffed at us.
O LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.8 O God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.
You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove away the nations and planted it.9 Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt: thou hast cast cut the Gentiles and planted it.
You cleared the ground; it took root and filled the land.10 Thou wast the guide of its journey in its sight: thou plantedst the roots thereof, and it filled the land.
The mountains were covered by its shadow, the cedars of God by its branches.11 The shadow of it covered the hills: and the branches thereof the cedars of God.
It sent out boughs as far as the sea, shoots as far as the river.12 It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river.
Why have you broken down the walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?13 Why hast thou broken down the hedge thereof, so that all they who pass by the way do pluck it?
The boar from the forest strips the vine; the beast of the field feeds upon it.14 The boar out of the wood hath laid it waste: and a singular wild beast hath devoured it.
Turn again, LORD of hosts; look down from heaven and see; Attend to this vine,15 Turn again, O God of hosts, look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard:
the shoot your right hand has planted.16 And perfect the same which thy right hand hath planted: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.
Those who would burn or cut it down-- may they perish at your rebuke.17 Things set on fire and dug down shall perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
May your help be with the man at your right hand, with the one whom you once made strong.18 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself.
Then we will not withdraw from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.19 And we depart not from thee, thou shalt quicken us: and we will call upon thy name.
LORD of hosts, restore us; let your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.20 O Lord God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved.
