Job 14

1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.	1 Der Erdenmensch, vom Weib geboren, an Tagen arm und unruhvoll,
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.	2 geht gleich der Blume auf und welkt, flieht wie ein Schatten und besteht nicht lang.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?	3 Gleichwohl hältst du über ihm dein Auge offen und führst mich vor Gericht mit dir.
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.	4 O könnte vom Befleckten doch ein Reiner stammen! Jedoch, kein einziger!
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;	5 Wenn schon bestimmt sind seine Tage und bei dir liegt seiner Monde Zahl und seine Grenze du gesetzt hast, daß er sie nicht überschreite,
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.	6 so blicke weg von ihm, damit er weiterlebe, bis daß er wie ein Tagelöhner seinen Tag gedient hat!
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.	7 Denn für den Baum besteht noch eine Hoffnung; ist er gefällt, so treibt er wieder neu, und nicht geht ihm sein Nachwuchs aus.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;	8 Wenn in der Erde seine Wurzel altert und sein Stumpf im Boden stirbt,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.	9 vom Dunst des Wassers sproßt er wieder, und wie ein Setzling treibt er Zweige.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?	10 Doch stirbt ein Mann, so bleibt er kraftlos, stirbt ein Mensch, wo ist er dann?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:	11 Die Wasser schwinden aus dem See, der Strom vertrocknet und versiegt.
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.	12 Der Mensch legt sich zur Ruhe und steht nicht mehr auf. Sie werden nicht erwachen, bis der Himmel schwindet, und aus ihrem Schlaf nicht aufgeweckt.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!	13 O daß du mich im Totenreiche bärgest, mich verstecktest, bis dein Zorn vorüber, eine Frist mir setztest und dann mein gedächtest!
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.	14 Wenn ein Mensch verscheidet, wird er etwa wieder lebendig? Alle Tage meines Frondienstes wollte ich harren, bis meine Ablösung käme!
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.	15 Dann würdest du rufen, und ich würde dir antworten; nach dem Gebilde deiner Hände würdest du dich sehnen.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?	16 Ja, dann würdest du meine Schritte zählen, nicht würdest du achthaben auf meinen Fehltritt;
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.	17 versiegelt wie in einem Beutel wäre meine Missetat, und meine Schuld würdest du zudecken.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.	18 Jedoch ein stürzender Berg zerschellt, ein Felsen rückt von seiner Stätte;
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.	19 Steine zerreibt das Wasser, Platzregen spült das Erdreich fort; so hast du die Hoffnung des Menschen zunichte gemacht.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.	20 Du bezwingst ihn für immer, und so geht er dahin; du entstellst sein Antlitz und schickst ihn von hinnen.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.	21 Ob seine Söhne geehrt sind, er weiß es nicht, ob verachtet, er kümmert sich nicht um sie.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.	22 Gerade noch, daß sein Leib an ihm selber leidet, und daß seine Seele über ihn selbst trauert."
