Job 14

KING JAMES BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.	1 El hombre, nacido de mujer, tiene una vida breve y cargada de tormentos:
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.	2 como una flor, brota y se marchita; huye sin detenerse, como una sombra.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?	3 ¡Y sobre alguien así tú abres los ojos, lo enfrentas contigo en un juicio!
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.	4 Pero ¿quién sacará lo puro de lo impuro? Nadie, ciertamente.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;	5 Ya que sus días están determinados y tú conoces el número de sus meses, ya que le has puesto un límite infranqueable,
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.	6 ¡aparta de él tu mirada y déjalo solo, para que disfrute de su jornada como un asalariado!
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.	7 Para el árbol hay una esperanza: si es cortado, aún puede reverdecer y no dejará de tener retoños.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;	8 Aunque su raíz haya envejecido en el suelo y su tronco esté muerto en el polvo,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.	9 apenas siente el agua, produce nuevos brotes y echa ramas, como una planta joven.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?	10 Pero el hombre, cuando muere, queda inerte; el mortal que expira, ¿dónde está?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:	11 El agua del mar se evapora, un río se agota y se seca:
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.	12 así el hombre se acuesta y no se levanta; desaparecerán los cielos, antes que él se despierte, antes que se alce de su sueño.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!	13 ¡Ah, si tú me ocultaras en el Abismo, si me escondieras hasta que pase tu enojo y me fijaras un plazo para acordarte de mí!
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.	14 –Un hombre, una vez muerto, ¿podrá revivir?–. Entonces yo esperaría, todos los días de mi servicio, hasta que llegue mi relevo:
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.	15 tú llamarías, y yo te respondería, ansiarías ver la obra de tus manos.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?	16 Porque entonces no contarías mis pasos ni observarías mi pecado;
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.	17 mi delito estaría bajo sello en una bolsa y cubrirías mi culpa con un enduido.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.	18 Pero la montaña cae y se desmorona, la roca es removida de su sitio;
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.	19 las aguas desgastan las piedras, al polvo de la tierra se lo lleva el aguacero: ¡así tú destruyes la esperanza del mortal!
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.	20 Lo abates para siempre, y él se va, desfiguras su rostro y lo despides.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.	21 Se honra a sus hijos, pero él no lo sabe; si son envilecidos, él no se da cuenta.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.	22 ¡Sólo en carne propia siente el sufrimiento, sólo por sí mismo está de duelo!
