Job 14

1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.	1 L'homme né de la femme vit peu de temps, et il est rempli de beaucoup de misères.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.	2 Comme une fleur, il germe et il est foulé aux pieds; il fuit comme l'ombre, et il ne demeure jamais dans le même état.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?	3 Et Vous jugez digne de Vous d'ouvrir les yeux sur lui, et de le faire entrer en jugement avec Vous?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.	4 Qui peut rendre pur celui qui a été conçu dans l'impureté? N'est-ce pas Vous seul qui le pouvez?
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;	5 Les jours de l'homme sont courts; Vous connaissez le nombre de ses mois; Vous avez marqué les bornes qu'il ne pourra franchir.
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.	6 Retirez-Vous un peu de lui, afin qu'il se repose, jusqu'à ce que vienne le jour qu'il désire comme le mercenaire.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.	7 Un arbre n'est pas sans espérance; si on le coupe, il reverdit encore, et ses branches se multiplient.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;	8 Que sa racine ait vieilli dans la terre, et que son tronc soit mort dans la poussière,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.	9 à peine aura-t-il senti l'eau, qu'il repoussera, et il se couvrira de feuilles comme lorsqu'il a été planté.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?	10 Mais quand l'homme est mort, dépouillé, consumé, dites-le-moi, que devient-il?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:	11 Semblable aux eaux qui se retirent de la mer, et à un fleuve qui tarit et se dessèche,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.	12 l'homme, lorsqu'il est mort, ne ressuscite pas; jusqu'à ce que le ciel soit détruit, il ne se réveillera point, et il ne sortira pas de son sommeil.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!	13 Qui m'accordera que Vous me cachiez dans le séjour des morts jusqu'à ce que Votre fureur soit passée, et que Vous me marquiez un temps où Vous Vous souviendrez de moi?
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.	14 L'homme, une fois mort, vivra-t-il de nouveau? Dans cette guerre où je me trouve maintenant, j'attends tous les jours que mon changement arrive.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.	15 Vous m'appellerez, et je Vous répondrai; Vous tendrez Votre droite à l'oeuvre de Vos mains.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?	16 Vous avez compté tous mes pas; mais pardonnez-moi mes péchés.
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.	17 Vous avez scellé mes offenses comme dans un sac; mais Vous avez guéri mon iniquité.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.	18 La montagne se mine et tombe, et le rocher est arraché de sa place;
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.	19 les eaux creusent les pierres, et l'eau qui bat contre la terre la consume peu à peu : c'est ainsi que Vous perdez l'homme.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.	20 Vous l'avez affermi pour quelque temps, afin qu'il passât ensuite à jamais; Vous changerez son visage, et Vous le ferez sortir de ce monde.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.	21 Que ses enfants soient dans l'éclat ou qu'ils soient dans l'ignominie, il ne le saura pas.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.	22 Sa chair, pendant qu'il vivra, sera dans la douleur, et son âme pleurera sur lui.
