Epístola aos Colossenses 3

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se, portanto, ressuscitastes com Cristo, buscai as coisas lá do alto, onde Cristo está sentado à direita de Deus.	1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.
2 Afeiçoai-vos às coisas lá de cima, e não às da terra.	2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,
3 Porque estais mortos e a vossa vida está escondida com Cristo em Deus.	3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.
4 Quando Cristo, vossa vida, aparecer, então também vós aparecereis com ele na glória.	4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.
5 Mortificai, pois, os vossos membros no que têm de terreno: a devassidão, a impureza, as paixões, os maus desejos, a cobiça, que é uma idolatria.	5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;
6 Dessas coisas provém a ira de Deus sobre os descrentes.	6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.
7 Outrora também vós assim vivíeis, mergulhados como estáveis nesses vícios.	7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,
8 Agora, porém, deixai de lado todas estas coisas: ira, animosidade, maledicência, maldade, palavras torpes da vossa boca,	8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;
9 nem vos enganeis uns aos outros. Vós vos despistes do homem velho com os seus vícios,	9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,
10 e vos revestistes do novo, que se vai restaurando constantemente à imagem daquele que o criou, até atingir o perfeito conhecimento.	10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;
11 Aí não haverá mais grego nem judeu, nem bárbaro nem cita, nem escravo nem livre, mas somente Cristo, que será tudo em todos.	11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.
12 Portanto, como eleitos de Deus, santos e queridos, revesti-vos de entranhada misericórdia, de bondade, humildade, doçura, paciência.	12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Suportai-vos uns aos outros e perdoai-vos mutuamente, toda vez que tiverdes queixa contra outrem. Como o Senhor vos perdoou, assim perdoai também vós.	13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.
14 Mas, acima de tudo, revesti-vos da caridade, que é o vínculo da perfeição.	14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.
15 Triunfe em vossos corações a paz de Cristo, para a qual fostes chamados a fim de formar um único corpo. E sede agradecidos.	15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.
16 A palavra de Cristo permaneça entre vós em toda a sua riqueza, de sorte que com toda a sabedoria vos possais instruir e exortar mutuamente. Sob a inspiração da graça cantai a Deus de todo o coração salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais.	16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;
17 Tudo quanto fizerdes, por palavra ou por obra, fazei-o em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por ele graças a Deus Pai.	17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.
18 Mulheres, sede submissas a vossos maridos, porque assim convém, no Senhor.	18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.
19 Maridos, amai as vossas mulheres e não as trateis com aspereza.	19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.
20 Filhos, obedecei em tudo a vossos pais, porque isto agrada ao Senhor.	20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.
21 Pais, deixai de irritar vossos filhos, para que não se tornem desanimados.	21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.
22 Servos, obedecei em tudo a vossos senhores terrenos, servindo não por motivo de que estais sendo vistos, como quem busca agradar a homens, mas com sinceridade de coração, por temor a Deus.	22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.
23 Tudo o que fizerdes, fazei-o de bom coração, como para o Senhor e não para os homens,	23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,
24 certos de que recebereis, como recompensa, a herança das mãos do Senhor. Servi a Cristo, Senhor.	24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.
25 Quem cometer injustiça, pagará pelo que fez injustamente; e não haverá distinção de pessoas.	25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.
