1 Bildad de Chua falou então nestes termos:	1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
2 Quando acabarás de falar, e terás a sabedoria de nos deixar dizer?	2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 Por que nos consideras como animais, e por que passamos por estúpidos a teus olhos?	3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
4 Tu que te rasgas em teu furor, é preciso que por tua causa a terra seja abandonada, e que os rochedos mudem de lugar?	4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
5 Sim, a luz do mau se apagará, e a flama de seu fogo cessará de alumiar.	5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
6 A luz obscurece em sua tenda, e sua lâmpada sobre ele se apagará;	6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
7 seus passos firmes serão cortados, seus próprios desígnios os farão tropeçar.	7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
8 Seus pés se prendem numa rede, e ele anda sobre malhas.	8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
9 A armadilha o segura pelo calcanhar, um laço o aperta.	9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.
10 Uma corda se esconde sob a terra para pegá-lo, uma armadilha, ao longo da vereda.	10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
11 De todas as partes temores o amedrontam, e perseguem-no passo a passo.	11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
12 A calamidade vem faminta sobre ele, a infelicidade está postada a seu lado.	12 Disaster is ready at his side,
13 A pele de seu corpo é devorada, o filho mais velho da morte devora-lhe os membros;	13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
14 é arrancado da tenda, onde se sentia seguro, levam-no ao rei dos terrores.	14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
15 Podes estabelecer-te em sua tenda: ele não existe mais; o enxofre é espalhado em seu domínio.	15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 Por baixo suas raízes secam, e por cima seus ramos definham.	16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
17 Sua memória apaga-se da terra, nada mais lembra o seu nome na região.	17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
18 É arrojado da luz para as trevas, é desterrado do mundo.	18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
19 Não tem descendente nem posteridade em sua tribo, nem sobrevivente algum em sua morada.	19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
20 O Ocidente está estupefacto com sua sorte, o Oriente treme diante dela.	20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
21 Eis o que acontece com as tendas dos ímpios, os lugares habitados pelo homem que não conhece Deus.	21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!
