1 Hæ sunt mansiones filiorum Israël, qui egressi sunt de Ægypto per turmas suas in manu Moysi et Aaron,	1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 quas descripsit Moyses juxta castrorum loca, quæ Domini jussione mutabant.	2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:
3 Profecti igitur de Ramesse mense primo, quintadecima die mensis primi, altera die Phase, filii Israël in manu excelsa, videntibus cunctis Ægyptiis,	3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.
4 et sepelientibus primogenitos, quos percusserat Dominus (nam et in diis eorum exercuerat ultionem),	4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.
5 castrametati sunt in Soccoth.	5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 Et de Soccoth venerunt in Etham, quæ est in extremis finibus solitudinis.	6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.
7 Inde egressi venerunt contra Phihahiroth, quæ respicit Beelsephon, et castrametati sunt ante Magdalum.	7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.
8 Profectique de Phihahiroth, transierunt per medium mare in solitudinem : et ambulantes tribus diebus per desertum Etham, castrametati sunt in Mara.	8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.
9 Profectique de Mara, venerunt in Elim, ubi erant duodecim fontes aquarum, et palmæ septuaginta : ibique castrametati sunt.	9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.
10 Sed et inde egressi, fixerunt tentoria super mare Rubrum. Profectique de mari Rubro,	10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 castrametati sunt in deserto Sin.	11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 Unde egressi, venerunt in Daphca.	12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.
13 Profectique de Daphca, castrametati sunt in Alus.	13 They left Dophkah and encamped at Alush.
14 Egressique de Alus, in Raphidim fixere tentoria, ubi populo defuit aqua ad bibendum.	14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.
15 Profectique de Raphidim, castrametati sunt in deserto Sinai.	15 They left Rephidim and encamped in the desert of Sinai.
16 Sed et de solitudine Sinai egressi, venerunt ad sepulchra concupiscentiæ.	16 They left the desert of Sinai and encamped at Kibroth-ha-Taavah.
17 Profectique de sepulchris concupiscentiæ, castrametati sunt in Haseroth.	17 They left Kibroth-ha-Taavah and encamped at Hazeroth.

37 Egressique de Cades, castrametati sunt in monte Hor, in extremis finibus terræ Edom.	37 They left Kadesh and encamped at Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom.
38 Ascenditque Aaron sacerdos in montem Hor jubente Domino : et ibi mortuus est anno quadragesimo egressionis filiorum Israël ex Ægypto, mense quinto, prima die mensis,	38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 cum esset annorum centum viginti trium.	39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 Audivitque Chananæus rex Arad, qui habitabat ad meridiem, in terram Chanaan venisse filios Israël.	40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.
41 Et profecti de monte Hor, castrametati sunt in Salmona.	41 They left Mount Hor and encamped at Zalmonah.
42 Unde egressi, venerunt in Phunon.	42 They left Zalmonah and encamped at Punon.
43 Profectique de Phunon, castrametati sunt in Oboth.	43 They left Punon and encamped at Oboth.
44 Et de Oboth venerunt in Ijeabarim, quæ est in finibus Moabitarum.	44 They left Oboth and encamped in Moabite territory at Iye-Abarim.
45 Profectique de Ijeabarim, fixere tentoria in Dibongad.	45 They left Iyim and encamped at Dibon-Gad.
46 Unde egressi, castrametati sunt in Helmondeblathaim.	46 They left Dibon-Gad and encamped at Almon-Diblathaim.
47 Egressique de Helmondeblathaim, venerunt ad montes Abarim contra Nabo.	47 They left Almon-Diblathaim and encamped in the Abarim mountains facing Nebo.
48 Profectique de montibus Abarim, transierunt ad campestria Moab, supra Jordanem, contra Jericho.	48 They left the Abarim mountains and encamped on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan oppositeJericho.
49 Ibique castrametati sunt de Bethsimoth usque ad Abelsatim in planioribus locis Moabitarum.	49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.
50 Ubi locutus est Dominus ad Moysen :	50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:
51 Præcipe filiis Israël, et dic ad eos : Quando transieritis Jordanem, intrantes terram Chanaan,	51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,
52 disperdite cunctos habitatores terræ illius : confringite titulos, et statuas comminuite, atque omnia excelsa vastate,	52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.
53 mundantes terram, et habitantes in ea. Ego enim dedi vobis illam in possessionem,	53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.
54 quam dividetis vobis sorte. Pluribus dabitis latiorem, et paucis angustiorem. Singulis ut sors ceciderit, ita tribuetur hæreditas. Per tribus et familias possessio dividetur.	54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.
55 Sin autem nolueritis interficere habitatores terræ : qui remanserint, erunt vobis quasi clavi in oculis, et lanceæ in lateribus, et adversabuntur vobis in terra habitationis vestræ :	55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,
56 et quidquid illis cogitaveram facere, vobis faciam.	56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '
