Michea 5

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Sed tu, Bethlehem Ephratha, parvulus in milibus Iudae, ex te mihi egredietur, qui sit dominator in Israel; et egressus eius a temporibus antiquis, a diebus aeternitatis.	1 But you (Bethlehem) Ephrathah, the least of the clans of Judah, from you will come for me a future rulerof Israel whose origins go back to the distant past, to the days of old.
2 Propter hoc dabit eos usque ad tempus, in quo parturiens pariet; et reliquiae fratrum eius convertentur ad filios Israel.	2 Hence Yahweh will abandon them only until she who is in labour gives birth, and then those who surviveof his race wil be reunited to the Israelites.
3 Et stabit et pascet in fortitudine Domini, in sublimitate nominis Domini Dei sui; et habitabunt secure, quia nunc magnus erit usque ad terminos terrae,	3 He wil take his stand and he wil shepherd them with the power of Yahweh, with the majesty of thename of his God, and they wil be secure, for his greatness wil extend henceforth to the most distant parts of thecountry.
4 et erit iste pax. Assyrius cum venerit in terram nostram et quando calcaverit in domibus nostris, suscitabimus super eum septem pastores et octo primates hominum.	4 He himself wil be peace! Should the Assyrian invade our country, should he set foot in our land, weshall raise seven shepherds against him, eight leaders of men;
5 Et pascent terram Assyriae in gladio et terram Nemrod in lanceis; et liberabit ab Assyrio, cum venerit in terram nostram et cum calcaverit in finibus nostris.	5 they wil shepherd Assyria with the sword, the country of Nimrod with naked blade. He will save us fromthe Assyrian, should he invade our country, should he set foot inside our frontiers.
6 Et erunt reliquiae Iacob in medio populorum multorum quasi ros a Domino et quasi imbres super herbam, quae non exspectat virum et non praestolatur filios homi num.	6 Then what is left of Jacob, surrounded by many peoples, wil be like a dew from Yahweh, like showerson the grass, which do not depend on human agency and are beyond human control.
7 Et erunt reliquiae Iacob in gentibus, in medio populorum multorum, quasi leo in iumentis silvarum et quasi catulus leonis in gregibus pecorum; qui cum transierit et conculcaverit et ceperit, non est qui eruat.	7 Then what is left of Jacob, surrounded by many peoples, wil be like a lion among the forest beasts, like a fierce lion among flocks of sheep trampling as he goes, mangling his prey which no one takes from him.
8 Exaltabitur manus tua super hostes tuos, et omnes inimici tui interibunt.	8 You wil be victorious over your foes and al your enemies will be torn to pieces.
9 “Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus, auferam equos tuos de medio tui et disperdam quadrigas tuas	9 When that day comes- declares Yahweh- I shal tear your horses away from you, I shal destroy yourchariots;
10 et perdam civitates terrae tuae et destruam omnes munitiones tuas.	10 I shall tear the cities from your country, I shal overthrow all your fortresses;
11 Et auferam veneficia de manu tua, et divini non erunt in te.	11 I shall tear the spells out of your hands and you wil have no more soothsayers;
12 Et perire faciam sculptilia tua et lapides tuos de medio tui, et non adorabis ultra opera manuum tuarum;	12 I shall tear away your images and your sacred pillars from among you, and no longer wil you worshipthings which your own hands have made!
13 et evellam palos tuos de medio tui et conteram idola tua.	13 I shall uproot your sacred poles and shal destroy your cities!
14 Et faciam in furore et in indignatione ultionem in omnibus gentibus, quae non audierunt ”.	14 In furious anger I shal wreak vengeance on the nations who have disobeyed me!
