1 Ci mette in viaggio colui, che sotto i gli occhi tuoi devasterà, e stringerà l'assedio: osserva tu i suoi movimenti, rinforza i tuoi fianchi, accresci grandemente le tue forze.	1 He is come up that shall destroy before thy face, that shall keep the siege: watch the way, fortify thy loins, strengthen thy power exceedingly.
2 Perchè il Signore farà vendetta della superbia contro Giacobbe, come della superbia contro Israele; perocché questi distruttori li spersero, e guastaron le loro propagini.	2 For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.
3 Le rotelle de' suoi campioni gettano fiamme, i suoi soldati hanno vesti di porpora: le redini de' cocchi sono fiammanti nel giorno, in cui ella si mette in ordine (per la battaglia), e i loro cocchieri sono addormentati.	3 The shield of his mighty men is like fire, the men of the army are clad in scarlet, the reins of the chariot are flaming in the day of his preparation, and the drivers are stupefied.
4 Si scompigliano per istrada: i loro cocchi s'infrangono nelle piazze: i loro occhi son come accese faci, come folgori, che strisciano.	4 They are in confusion in the ways, the chariots jostle one against another in the streets: their looks are like torches, like lightning running to and fro.
5 Ella farà rassegna de' suoi bravi; si urteranno per le strade; correranno in fretta alle mura, e si prepareranno da stare al coperto.	5 He will muster up his valiant men, they shall stumble in their march: they shall quickly get upon the walls thereof: and a covering shall be prepared.
6 Le porte de' fiumi sono spalancate, e il tempio è atterrato sino ai fondamenti.	6 The gates of the rivers are opened, and the temple is thrown down to the ground.
7 E i suoi soldati sono menati via prigionieri, e le donne condotte schiave, gemono come colombe, e si querelano in cuor loro.	7 And the soldier is led away captive: and her bondwomen were led away mourning as doves, murmuring in their hearts.
8 E Ninive colle sue acque è come un padule: quelli sono fuggiti fermatevi, fermatevi ma nissuno si volge indietro.	8 And as for Ninive, her waters are like a great pool, but the men flee away. They cry: Stand, stand, but there is none that will return back.
9 Saccheggiate l'argento, saccheggiate l'oro: la ricchezza de' suoi preziosi vasi è senza fine.	9 Take ye the spoil of the silver, take the spoil of the gold: for there is no end of the riches of all the precious furniture.
10 Ella è devastata, e squarciata e lacerata: cuor languente, ginocchia tremanti, fianchi spossati, facce di tutta la gente abbronzate come una pignatta.	10 She is destroyed, and rent, and torn: the heart melteth, and the knees fail, and all the loins lose their strength: and the faces of them all are as the blackness of a kettle.
11 Dov' è la tana de' leoni, e i paschi de' lioncelli, dove andava a riporsi illione, e i suoi lioncini, senza aver chi li disturbasse?	11 Where is now the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, to which the lion went, to enter in thither, the young lion, and there was none to make them afraid?
12 Quel lione, fatta preda sufficiente pe' suoi lioncini, fece strage per le sue lionesse; e di uccisi animali empiè la sua tana, e il suo covile di rapine.	12 The lion caught enough for his whelps, and killed for his lionesses: and he filled his holes with prey, and his den with rapine.
13 Eccomi a te, dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io darò fuoco a' tuoi cocchi, e ridurrolli in fumo; e i tuoi lioncini saran divorati dalla spada, e torrò dalla terra le tue rapine: e non si udirà mai più la voce de' tuoi ambasciadori.	13 Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn thy chariots even to smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey out of the land, and the voice of thy messengers shall be heard no more.
