1 Devi anche sapere che negli ultimi tempi verranno momenti difficili.	1 And know this: that in the last days perilous times will press near.
2 Gli uomini saranno egoisti, amanti del denaro, vanitosi, orgogliosi, bestemmiatori, ribelli ai genitori, ingrati, senza religione,	2 Men will be lovers of themselves, greedy, self-exalting, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,
3 senza amore, sleali, maldicenti, intemperanti, intrattabili, nemici del bene,	3 without affection, without peace, false accusers, unchaste, cruel, without kindness,
4 traditori, sfrontati, accecati dall'orgoglio, attaccati ai piaceri più che a Dio,	4 traitorous, reckless, self-important, loving pleasure more than God,
5 con la parvenza della pietà, mentre ne hanno rinnegata la forza interiore. Guardati bene da costoro!	5 even having the appearance of piety while rejecting its virtue. And so, avoid them.
6 Al loro numero appartengono certi tali che entrano nelle case e accalappiano donnicciole cariche di peccati, mosse da passioni di ogni genere,	6 For among these are ones who penetrate houses and lead away, like captives, foolish women burdened with sins, who are led away by means of various desires,
7 che stanno sempre lì ad imparare, senza riuscire mai a giungere alla conoscenza della verità.	7 always learning, yet never achieving knowledge of the truth.
8 Sull'esempio di Iannes e di Iambres che si opposero a Mosè, anche costoro si oppongono alla verità: uomini dalla mente corrotta e riprovati in materia di fede.	8 And in the same manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so also will these resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobates from the faith.
9 Costoro però non progrediranno oltre, perché la loro stoltezza sarà manifestata a tutti, come avvenne per quelli.	9 But they will not advance beyond a certain point. For the folly of the latter shall be made manifest to all, just as that of the former.
10 Tu invece mi hai seguito da vicino nell'insegnamento, nella condotta, nei propositi, nella fede, nella magnanimità, nell'amore del prossimo, nella pazienza,	10 But you have fully comprehended my doctrine, instruction, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
11 nelle persecuzioni, nelle sofferenze, come quelle che incontrai ad Antiòchia, a Icònio e a Listri. Tu sai bene quali persecuzioni ho sofferto. Eppure il Signore mi ha liberato da tutte.	11 persecutions, afflictions; such things as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; how I endured persecutions, and how the Lord rescued me from everything.
12 Del resto, tutti quelli che vogliono vivere piamente in Cristo Gesù saranno perseguitati.	12 And all those who willingly live the piety in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
13 Ma i malvagi e gli impostori andranno sempre di male in peggio, ingannatori e ingannati nello stesso tempo.	13 But evil men and deceivers will advance in evil, erring and sending into error.
14 Tu però rimani saldo in quello che hai imparato e di cui sei convinto, sapendo da chi l'hai appreso	14 Yet truly, you should remain in those things which you have learned and which have been entrusted to you. For you know from whom you have learned them.
15 e che fin dall'infanzia conosci le sacre Scritture: queste possono istruirti per la salvezza, che si ottiene per mezzo della fede in Cristo Gesù.	15 And, from your infancy, you have known the Sacred Scriptures, which are able to instruct you toward salvation, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 Tutta la Scrittura infatti è ispirata da Dio e utile per insegnare, convincere, correggere e formare alla giustizia, perché l'uomo di Dio sia completo e ben preparato per ogni opera buona.	16 All Scripture, having been divinely inspired, is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in justice,
	17 so that the man of God may be perfect, having been trained for every good work.
