Seconda lettera a Timoteo 3

1 Devi anche sapere che negli ultimi tempi verranno momenti difficili.	1 You may be quite sure that in the last days there will be some difficult times.
2 Gli uomini saranno egoisti, amanti del denaro, vanitosi, orgogliosi, bestemmiatori, ribelli ai genitori, ingrati, senza religione,	2 People wil be self-centred and avaricious, boastful, arrogant and rude; disobedient to their parents,ungrateful, irreligious;
3 senza amore, sleali, maldicenti, intemperanti, intrattabili, nemici del bene,	3 heartless and intractable; they wil be slanderers, profligates, savages and enemies of everything that isgood;
4 traditori, sfrontati, accecati dall'orgoglio, attaccati ai piaceri più che a Dio,	4 they wil be treacherous and reckless and demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God.
5 con la parvenza della pietà, mentre ne hanno rinnegata la forza interiore. Guardati bene da costoro!	5 They wil keep up the outward appearance of religion but wil have rejected the inner power of it. Keepaway from people like that.
6 Al loro numero appartengono certi tali che entrano nelle case e accalappiano donnicciole cariche di peccati, mosse da passioni di ogni genere,	6 Of the same kind, too, are those men who insinuate themselves into families in order to get influenceover sil y women who are obsessed with their sins and follow one craze after another,
7 che stanno sempre lì ad imparare, senza riuscire mai a giungere alla conoscenza della verità.	7 always seeking learning, but unable ever to come to knowledge of the truth.
8 Sull'esempio di Iannes e di Iambres che si opposero a Mosè, anche costoro si oppongono alla verità: uomini dalla mente corrotta e riprovati in materia di fede.	8 Just as Jannes and Jambres defied Moses, so these men defy the truth, their minds corrupt and theirfaith spurious.
9 Costoro però non progrediranno oltre, perché la loro stoltezza sarà manifestata a tutti, come avvenne per quelli.	9 But they will not be able to go on much longer: their fol y, like that of the other two, must become obviousto everybody.
10 Tu invece mi hai seguito da vicino nell'insegnamento, nella condotta, nei propositi, nella fede, nella magnanimità, nell'amore del prossimo, nella pazienza,	10 You, though, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my aims, my faith, my patience and my love,my perseverance
11 nelle persecuzioni, nelle sofferenze, come quelle che incontrai ad Antiòchia, a Icònio e a Listri. Tu sai bene quali persecuzioni ho sofferto. Eppure il Signore mi ha liberato da tutte.	11 and the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in places like Antioch, Iconium and Lystra -- althe persecutions I have endured; and the Lord has rescued me from every one of them.
12 Del resto, tutti quelli che vogliono vivere piamente in Cristo Gesù saranno perseguitati.	12 But anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be persecuted;
13 Ma i malvagi e gli impostori andranno sempre di male in peggio, ingannatori e ingannati nello stesso tempo.	13 while these wicked impostors wil go from bad to worse, deceiving others, and themselves deceived.
14 Tu però rimani saldo in quello che hai imparato e di cui sei convinto, sapendo da chi l'hai appreso	14 You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were,
15 e che fin dall'infanzia conosci le sacre Scritture: queste possono istruirti per la salvezza, che si ottiene per mezzo della fede in Cristo Gesù.	15 and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures -from these you can learnthe wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 Tutta la Scrittura infatti è ispirata da Dio e utile per insegnare, convincere, correggere e formare alla giustizia, perché l'uomo di Dio sia completo e ben preparato per ogni opera buona.	16 Al scripture is inspired by God and useful for refuting error, for guiding people's lives and teachingthem to be upright.
	17 This is how someone who is dedicated to God becomes ful y equipped and ready for any good work.
