1 Questa parola del Signore mi fu rivolta:	1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
2 "Ora, figlio dell'uomo riferisci: Così dice il Signore Dio al paese d'Israele: La fine! Giunge la fine per i quattro punti cardinali del paese.	2 Son of man, now say: Thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land!
3 Ora che su di te pende la fine, io scaglio contro di te la mia ira per giudicarti delle tue opere e per domandarti conto delle tue nefandezze.	3 Now the end is upon you; I will unleash my anger against you and judge you according to your conduct and lay upon you the consequences of all your abominations.
4 Non s'impietosirà per te il mio occhio e non avrò compassione, anzi ti terrò responsabile della tua condotta e saranno palesi in mezzo a te le tue nefandezze; saprete allora che io sono il Signore.	4 I will not look upon you with pity nor have mercy; I will bring your conduct down upon you, and the consequences of your abominations shall be in your midst; then shall you know that I am the LORD.
5 Così dice il Signore Dio: Sventura su sventura, ecco, arriva.	5 Thus says the Lord GOD: Disaster upon disaster! See it coming!
6 Viene la fine, la fine viene su di te; ecco, viene.	6 An end is coming, the end is coming upon you! See it coming!
7 Sopraggiunge il tuo destino, o abitante del paese: arriva il tempo, è prossimo il giorno terribile e non di tripudio sui monti.	7 The climax has come for you who dwell in the land! The time has come, near is the day: a time of consternation, not of rejoicing.
8 Ora, fra breve, rovescerò il mio furore su di te e su di te darò sfogo alla mia ira. Ti giudicherò secondo le tue opere e ti domanderò conto di tutte le tue nefandezze.	8 Soon now I will pour out my fury upon you and spend my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your conduct and lay upon you the consequences of all your abominations.
9 né s'impietosirà il mio occhio e non avrò compassione, ma ti terrò responsabile della tua condotta e saranno palesi in mezzo a te le tue nefandezze: saprete allora che sono io, il Signore, colui che colpisce.	9 I will not look upon you with pity nor have mercy; I will deal with you according to your conduct, and the consequences of your abominations shall be in your midst; then shall you know that it is I, the LORD, who strike.
10 Ecco il giorno, eccolo che arriva. È giunta la tua sorte. L'ingiustizia fiorisce, germoglia l'orgoglio	10 See, the day of the LORD! See, the end is coming! Lawlessness is in full bloom, insolence flourishes,
11 e la violenza si leva a scettro d'iniquità.	11 violence has risen to support wickedness. It shall not be long in coming, nor shall it delay.
12 È giunto il tempo, è vicino il giorno: chi ha comprato non si allieti, chi ha venduto non rimpianga; perché l'ira pende su tutti!	12 The time has come, the day dawns. Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller mourn, for wrath shall be upon all the throng.
13 Chi ha venduto non tornerà in possesso di ciò che ha venduto anche se rimarrà in vita, perché la condanna contro il loro fasto non sarà revocata e nessuno nella sua perversità potrà preservare la sua esistenza.	13 The seller shall not regain what he sold as long as he lives, for wrath shall be upon all the throng. Because of his sins, no one shall preserve his life.
14 Si suona la tromba e tutto è pronto; ma nessuno muove a battaglia, perché il mio furore è contro tutta quella moltitudine.	14 They shall sound the trumpet and make everything ready, yet no one shall go to war, for my wrath is upon all the throng.
15 La spada all'esterno, la peste e la fame di dentro: chi è per la campagna perirà di spada, chi è in città sarà divorato dalla fame e dalla peste.	15 The sword is outside; pestilence and hunger are within. He that is in the country shall die by the sword; pestilence and famine shall devour those in the city.
16 Chi di loro potrà fuggire e salvarsi sui monti gemerà come le colombe delle valli, ognuno per la sua iniquità.	16 Even those who escape and flee to the mountains like the doves of the valleys--I will put them all to death, each one for his own sins.
17 Tutte le mani cadranno e tutte le ginocchia si scioglieranno come acqua.	17 All their hands shall be limp, and all their knees shall run with water.
18 Vestiranno il sacco e lo spavento li avvolgerà. Su tutti i volti sarà la vergogna e tutte le teste saranno rasate.	18 They shall put on sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; shame shall be on all their faces and baldness on all their heads.
19 Getteranno l'argento per le strade e il loro oro si cambierà in immondizia, con esso non si sfameranno, non si riempiranno il ventre, perché è stato per loro causa di peccato.	19 They shall fling their silver into the streets, and their gold shall be considered refuse. Their silver and gold cannot save them on the day of the LORD'S wrath. They shall not be allowed to satisfy their craving or fill their bellies, for this has been the occasion of their sin.
20 Della bellezza dei loro gioielli fecero oggetto d'orgoglio e fabbricarono con essi le abominevoli statue dei loro idoli: per questo li tratterò come immondizia,	20 In the beauty of their ornaments they put their pride: they made of them their abominable images (their idols). For this reason I make them refuse.
21 li darò in preda agli stranieri e in bottino alla feccia del paese e lo profaneranno.	21 I will hand them over as booty to foreigners, to be spoiled and defiled by the wicked of the earth.
22 Rivolgerò da loro la mia faccia, sarà profanato il mio tesoro, vi entreranno i ladri e lo profaneranno.	22 I will turn away my face from them, and my treasure shall be profaned: robbers shall enter and profane it.
23 Prepàrati una catena, poiché il paese è pieno di assassini e la città è piena di violenza.	23 They shall wreak slaughter, for the land is filled with bloodshed and the city full of violence.
24 Io manderò i popoli più feroci e s'impadroniranno delle loro case, abbatterò la superbia dei potenti, i santuari saranno profanati.	24 I will bring in the worst of the nations, who shall take possession of their houses. I will put an end to their proud strength, and their sanctuaries shall be profaned.
25 Giungerà l'angoscia e cercheranno pace, ma pace non vi sarà.	25 When anguish comes they shall seek peace, but there will be none.
26 Sventura seguirà a sventura, allarme seguirà ad allarme: ai profeti chiederanno responsi, ai sacerdoti verrà meno la dottrina, agli anziani il consiglio.	26 There shall be disaster after disaster, rumor after rumor. Prophetic vision shall fade; instruction shall be lacking to the priest, and counsel to the elders,
27 Il re sarà in lutto, il principe ammantato di desolazione, tremeranno le mani del popolo del paese.Li tratterò secondo la loro condotta, li giudicherò secondo i loro giudizi: così sapranno che io sono il Signore".	27 while the prince shall be enveloped in terror, and the hands of the common people shall tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and according to their judgments I will judge them; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
