BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, forse non giudicherai, non giudicherai tu la città sanguinaria? Mostrale tutti i suoi abomini.	2 'Son of man, are you ready to judge? Are you ready to judge the blood-stained city? Confront her withal her loathsome practices!
3 Tu riferirai: Dice il Signore Dio: O città che sparge il sangue in mezzo a se stessa, perché giunga il suo tempo, e fabbrica a suo danno idoli con cui contaminarsi!	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: City shedding blood inside yourself to hasten your doom, makingfoul idols on your soil to defile yourself,
4 Per il sangue che hai sparso, ti sei resa colpevole e ti sei contaminata con gli idoli che hai fabbricato: hai affrettato il tuo giorno, sei giunta al termine dei tuoi anni. Ti renderò perciò l'obbrobrio dei popoli e lo scherno di tutta la terra.	4 you have incurred guilt by the blood you have shed, you have defiled yourself with the foul idols youhave made, you have shortened your days, you have come to the end of your years. This is why I have madeyou an object of scorn to the nations and a laughing-stock to every country.
5 I vicini e i lontani si faran beffe di te o città infamata e piena di disordini.	5 From far and near they will taunt you with your infamous disorders.
6 Ecco in te i prìncipi d'Israele, ognuno secondo il suo potere, intenti a spargere sangue.	6 "Look! In you the princes of Israel, one and all, have furthered their own interests at the cost ofbloodshed;
7 In te si disprezza il padre e la madre, in te si maltratta il forestiero, in te si opprime l'orfano e la vedova.	7 in you people have despised their fathers and mothers; in you they have il -treated the settler; in youthey have oppressed the widow and orphan.
8 Hai disprezzato i miei santuari, hai profanato i miei sabati.	8 You have treated my sanctuary with contempt, you have profaned my Sabbaths.
9 Vi sono in te calunniatori che versano il sangue. C'è in te chi banchetta sui monti e chi commette scelleratezze.	9 In you informers incite to bloodshed; in you people eat on the mountains and act licentiously;
10 In te si hanno rapporti col proprio padre, in te si giace con la donna in stato di mestruazione.	10 in you they have sexual intercourse with their fathers; in you they force themselves on women in theirperiods;
11 Uno reca oltraggio alla donna del prossimo, l'altro contamina con incesto la nuora, altri viola la sorella, figlia del padre.	11 in you one man engages in loathsome practices with his neighbour's wife, another lewdly defiles hisdaughter-in-law, another violates his sister, his own father's daughter.
12 In te si ricevono doni per spargere il sangue, tu presti a interesse e a usura, spogli con la violenza il tuo prossimo e di me ti dimentichi. Oracolo del Signore Dio.	12 In you people take bribes for shedding blood; you lend for profit and charge interest, you profit fromyour fel ow by extortion and have forgotten about me -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
13 Ecco, io batto le mani per le frodi che hai commesse e per il sangue che è versato in mezzo a te.	13 "Now I shal clap my hands at your acts of banditry and the blood that flows in you.
14 Reggerà il tuo cuore e saranno forti le mani per i giorni che io ti preparo? Io, il Signore, l'ho detto e lo farò;	14 Wil your heart be able to resist, will your hands be steady, the day when I cal you to account? I,Yahweh, have spoken and shall act.
15 ti disperderò fra le nazioni e ti disseminerò in paesi stranieri; ti purificherò della tua immondezza,	15 I shal scatter you among the nations and disperse you in foreign countries, and so put an end to thefilthiness now inside you;
16 poi ti riprenderò in eredità davanti alle nazioni e tu saprai che io sono il Signore".	16 through your own fault, you wil be profaned in the eyes of the nations, and you wil know that I amYahweh!" '
17 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	17 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
18 "Figlio dell'uomo, gli Israeliti si son cambiati in scoria per me; sono tutti rame, stagno, ferro e piombo dentro un crogiuolo: sono scoria di argento.	18 'Son of man, for me, the House of Israel has become dross: copper, tin, iron, lead, al mixed uptogether in the melting-pot; they are dross.
19 Perciò così dice il Signore: Poiché vi siete tutti cambiati in scoria, io vi radunerò dentro Gerusalemme.	19 And so, Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have al become dross, right! I shall collect you insideJerusalem.
20 Come si mette insieme argento, rame, ferro, piombo, stagno dentro un crogiuolo e si soffia nel fuoco per fonderli, così io, con ira e con sdegno, vi metterò tutti insieme e vi farò fondere;	20 As silver, copper, iron, lead and tin are col ected in the melting-pot, and the fire is blown underneathto melt them down, so I shal collect you in my furious anger and have you melted down;
21 vi radunerò, contro di voi soffierò nel fuoco del mio sdegno e vi fonderò in mezzo alla città.	21 I shal collect you and blow up the fire of my rage for you and have you melted down inside the city.
22 Come si fonde l'argento nel crogiuolo, così sarete fusi in mezzo ad essa: saprete che io, il Signore, ho riversato il mio sdegno contro di voi".	22 As silver is melted in the melting-pot, so you will be melted down inside the city, and you wil knowthat I, Yahweh, have vented my fury on you." '
23 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
24 "Figlio dell'uomo, di' a Gerusalemme: Tu sei una terra non purificata, non lavata da pioggia in un giorno di tempesta.	24 'Son of man, say to her, "You are a land that has not received rain or shower on the day of anger.
25 Dentro di essa i suoi prìncipi, come un leone ruggente che sbrana la preda, divorano la gente, s'impadroniscono di tesori e ricchezze, moltiplicano le vedove in mezzo ad essa.	25 In you, the princes are like a roaring lion tearing its prey. They have eaten the people, seized wealthand jewels and widowed many inside her.
26 I suoi sacerdoti violano la mia legge, profanano le cose sante. Non fanno distinzione fra il sacro e il profano, non insegnano a distinguere fra puro e impuro, non osservano i miei sabati e io sono disonorato in mezzo a loro.	26 Her priests have violated my law and desecrated my sanctuary; they have made no distinctionbetween sacred and profane, they have not taught people the difference between clean and unclean; they haveturned their eyes away from my Sabbaths and I have been dishonoured by them.
27 I suoi capi in mezzo ad essa sono come lupi che dilaniano la preda, versano il sangue, fanno perire la gente per turpi guadagni.	27 In her the leaders are wolves tearing their prey, shedding blood and killing people to steal theirpossessions.
28 I suoi profeti hanno come intonacato tutti questi delitti con false visioni e oracoli fallaci e vanno dicendo: Così parla il Signore Dio, mentre invece il Signore non ha parlato.	28 Her prophets have plastered these things over with their empty visions and lying prophecies, saying:Yahweh says this, although Yahweh has not spoken.
29 Gli abitanti della campagna commettono violenze e si danno alla rapina, calpestano il povero e il bisognoso, maltrattano il forestiero, contro ogni diritto.	29 The people of the country have taken to extortion and banditry; they have oppressed the poor andneedy and il -treated the settler in a way that is unjustifiable.
30 Io ho cercato fra loro un uomo che costruisse un muro e si ergesse sulla breccia di fronte a me, per difendere il paese perché io non lo devastassi, ma non l'ho trovato.	30 I have been looking for someone among them to build a barricade and oppose me in the breach, todefend the country and prevent me from destroying it; but I have found no one.
31 Io rovescerò su di essi il mio sdegno: li consumerò con il fuoco della mia collera: la loro condotta farò ricadere sulle loro teste". Oracolo del Signore Dio.	31 Hence I have vented my fury on them; I have put an end to them in the fire of my rage. I have madetheir conduct recoil on their own heads -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
