BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il dieci del quinto mese, anno settimo, alcuni anziani d'Israele vennero a consultare il Signore e sedettero davanti a me.	1 In the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, some of the elders of Israel came to consultYahweh and were sitting with me,
2 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:	2 when the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
3 "Figlio dell'uomo, parla agli anziani d'Israele e di' loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Venite voi per consultarmi? Com'è vero ch'io vivo, non mi lascerò consultare da voi. Oracolo del Signore Dio.	3 'Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Have you come toconsult me? As I live, I wil not be consulted by you -- declares the Lord Yahweh."
4 Vuoi giudicarli? Li vuoi giudicare, figlio dell'uomo? Mostra loro gli abomini dei loro padri.	4 'Are you ready to judge them? Are you ready to judge them, son of man? Confront them with theloathsome practices of their ancestors.
5 Di' loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Quando io scelsi Israele e alzai la mano e giurai per la stirpe della casa di Giacobbe, apparvi loro nel paese d'Egitto e giurai per loro dicendo: Io, il Signore, sono vostro Dio.	5 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when I chose Israel, when I pledged my word to theHouse of Jacob, I made myself known to them in Egypt; I pledged my word to them and said: I am Yahweh yourGod.
6 Allora alzai la mano e giurai di farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto e condurli in una terra scelta per loro, stillante latte e miele, che è la più bella fra tutte le terre.	6 That day I pledged them my word that I would bring them out of Egypt to a country which I hadreconnoitred for them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al .
7 Dissi loro: Ognuno getti via gli abomini dei propri occhi e non vi contaminate con gl'idoli d'Egitto: sono io il vostro Dio.	7 And I said to them: Each of you must reject the horrors which attract you; do not pol ute yourselveswith the foul idols of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.
8 Ma essi mi si ribellarono e non mi vollero ascoltare: non gettarono via gli abomini dei propri occhi e non abbandonarono gli idoli d'Egitto. Allora io decisi di riversare sopra di loro il mio furore e di sfogare contro di loro la mia ira, in mezzo al paese d'Egitto.	8 But they rebel ed against me and would not listen to me. Not one of them rejected the horrors whichattracted them; they did not give up the foul idols of Egypt. I then resolved to vent my fury on them, to sate myanger on them in Egypt.
9 Ma feci diversamente per riguardo al mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle genti in mezzo alle quali si trovavano, poiché avevo dichiarato che li avrei fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto sotto i loro occhi.	9 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations amongwhom they were living, and before whom I had made myself known to them and promised to bring them out ofEgypt.
10 Così li feci uscire dall'Egitto e li condussi nel deserto;	10 So I brought them out of Egypt and led them into the desert.
11 diedi loro i miei statuti e feci loro conoscere le mie leggi, perché colui che le osserva viva per esse.	11 I gave them my laws and taught them my judgements, in whose observance people find life.
12 Diedi loro anche i miei sabati come un segno fra me e loro, perché sapessero che sono io, il Signore, che li santifico.	12 And I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I,Yahweh, am the one who sanctifies them.
13 Ma gli Israeliti si ribellarono contro di me nel deserto: essi non camminarono secondo i miei decreti, disprezzarono le mie leggi, che bisogna osservare perché l'uomo viva, e violarono sempre i miei sabati. Allora io decisi di riversare su di loro il mio sdegno nel deserto e di sterminarli.	13 The House of Israel, however, rebel ed against me in the desert; they refused to keep my laws, theyscorned my judgements, in whose observance people find life, and they grossly profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them in the desert and destroy them.
14 Ma agii diversamente per il mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle genti di fronte alle quali io li avevo fatti uscire.	14 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations, beforewhom I had brought them out.
15 Avevo giurato su di loro nel deserto che non li avrei più condotti nella terra che io avevo loro assegnato, terra stillante latte e miele, la più bella fra tutte le terre,	15 Even so, I pledged them my word in the desert that I would not lead them to the country which I hadgiven them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al ,
16 perché avevano disprezzato i miei comandamenti, non avevano seguito i miei statuti e avevano profanato i miei sabati, mentre il loro cuore si era attaccato ai loro idoli.	16 since they had scorned my judgements, had refused to keep my laws and had profaned mySabbaths, their hearts being attached to foul idols.
17 Tuttavia il mio occhio ebbe pietà di loro e non li distrussi, non li sterminai tutti nel deserto.	17 In spite of this, I took pity on them; I refrained from destroying them and did not make an end of themin the desert.
18 Dissi ai loro figli nel deserto: Non seguite le regole dei vostri padri, non osservate le loro leggi, non vi contaminate con i loro idoli:	18 "I said to their children in the desert: Do not follow the laws of your ancestors, do not practise theirjudgements, do not defile yourselves with their foul idols.
19 sono io, il Signore, il vostro Dio. Camminate secondo i miei decreti, osservate le mie leggi e mettetele in pratica.	19 I am Yahweh your God. Keep my laws, respect my judgements and practise them.
20 Santificate i miei sabati e siano un segno fra me e voi, perché si sappia che sono io, il Signore vostro Dio.	20 Keep my Sabbaths holy; let them be a sign between me and you, so that people may know that I amYahweh your God.
21 Ma anche i figli mi si ribellarono, non camminarono secondo i miei decreti, non osservarono e non misero in pratica le mie leggi, che danno la vita a chi le osserva; profanarono i miei sabati. Allora io decisi di riversare il mio sdegno su di loro e di sfogare contro di essi l'ira nel deserto.	21 Their children, however, rebel ed against me; they refused to keep my laws, they did not respect orpractise my judgements, which must be practised by al who want to live; they profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them, to sate my anger on them in the desert.
22 Ma ritirai la mano e feci diversamente per riguardo al mio nome, perché non fosse profanato agli occhi delle genti, alla cui presenza io li avevo fatti uscire.	22 But I restrained my hand; respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes ofthe nations, before whom I had brought them out.
23 E nel deserto giurai loro, alzando la mia mano, che li avrei dispersi fra le genti e disseminati in paesi stranieri,	23 Once again, however, I pledged them my word that I would scatter them throughout the nations anddisperse them in foreign countries,
24 perché non avevano praticato le mie leggi, anzi, avevano disprezzato i miei decreti, profanato i miei sabati e i loro occhi erano sempre rivolti agli idoli dei loro padri.	24 because they had not fol owed my judgements but had rejected my laws and profaned my Sabbaths,their eyes being fastened on the foul idols of their ancestors.
25 Allora io diedi loro perfino statuti non buoni e leggi per le quali non potevano vivere.	25 And for this reason I gave them laws that were not good and judgements by which they could neverlive;
26 Feci sì che si contaminassero nelle loro offerte facendo passare per il fuoco ogni loro primogenito, per atterrirli, perché riconoscessero che io sono il Signore.	26 and I pol uted them with their own offerings, making them sacrifice every first-born son in order to filthem with revulsion, so that they would know that I am Yahweh."
27 Parla dunque agli Israeliti, figlio dell'uomo, e di' loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Ancora in questo mi offesero i vostri padri agendo con infedeltà verso di me:	27 'For this reason, son of man, speak to the House of Israel. Say to them, "The Lord Yahweh says this:Here is another way by which your ancestors outraged me by their infidelity.
28 dopo che io li ebbi introdotti nel paese che, levando la mia mano, avevo giurato di dare loro, essi guardarono ogni colle elevato, ogni albero verde e là fecero i sacrifici e portarono le loro offerte provocatrici: là depositarono i loro profumi soavi e versarono le loro libazioni.	28 Once I had brought them into the country which I had pledged my word to give them, they then sawal sorts of high hil s, al kinds of leafy trees, and there they performed their sacrifices and made offerings thatprovoked my anger; there they set out their pleasing smel and poured their libations.
29 Io dissi loro: Che cos'è quest'altura alla quale voi andate? Il nome altura è rimasto fino ai nostri giorni.	29 I then said to them: What is this high place where you go? And they gave, and stil give it, the nameof Bamah."
30 Ebbene, di' agli Israeliti: Così dice il Signore Dio: Vi contaminate secondo il costume dei vostri padri, vi prostituite secondo i loro abomini,	30 'So, say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: If you are pol uting yourselves as yourancestors did by fornicating with their horrors-
31 vi contaminate con tutti i vostri idoli fino ad oggi, facendo le vostre offerte e facendo passare per il fuoco i vostri figli e io mi dovrei lasciare consultare da voi, uomini d'Israele? Com'è vero ch'io vivo - parola del Signore Dio - non mi lascerò consultare da voi.	31 for by offering your gifts and by burning your children as sacrifices, you have been pol utingyourselves with al your foul idols to this very day -- shal I let myself be consulted by you, House of Israel? As Ilive -- declares Lord Yahweh -- I shal not let myself be consulted by you.
32 E ciò che v'immaginate in cuor vostro non avverrà, mentre voi andate dicendo: Saremo come le genti, come le tribù degli altri paesi che prestano culto al legno e alla pietra.	32 And what you sometimes imagine wil never be so, when you say: We shal be like the peoples, thetribes of foreign lands, worshipping wood and stone.
33 Com'è vero ch'io vivo - parola del Signore Dio - io regnerò su di voi con mano forte, con braccio possente e rovesciando la mia ira.	33 As I live I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I am the one who will reign over you, with a stronghand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated.
34 Poi vi farò uscire di mezzo ai popoli e vi radunerò da quei territori dove foste dispersi con mano forte, con braccio possente e con la mia ira traboccante	34 With a strong hand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated, I shall bring you back from thepeoples and gather you again from the countries throughout which you have been scattered.
35 e vi condurrò nel deserto dei popoli e lì a faccia a faccia vi giudicherò.	35 I shal lead you into the desert of the nations and there I shal judge you face to face.
36 Come giudicai i vostri padri nel deserto del paese di Egitto così giudicherò voi, dice il Signore Dio.	36 As I judged your ancestors in the desert of Egypt, so wil I judge you -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
37 Vi farò passare sotto il mio bastone e vi condurrò sotto il giogo dell'alleanza.	37 I shal make you pass under the crook, bring you to respect the covenant
38 Separerò da voi i ribelli e quelli che si sono staccati da me; li farò uscire dal paese in cui dimorano, ma non entreranno nel paese d'Israele: così saprete che io sono il Signore.	38 and rid you of the rebels who have revolted against me; I shall bring them out of the country wherethey are staying, but they will not enter the country of Israel, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.
39 A voi, uomini d'Israele, così dice il Signore Dio: Andate, servite pure ognuno i vostri idoli, ma infine mi ascolterete e il mio santo nome non profanerete più con le vostre offerte, con i vostri idoli;	39 House of Israel, Lord Yahweh says this: Go on, all of you, worship your foul idols, but later we shal see if you don't listen to me! Then you wil stop profaning my holy name with your offerings and your foul idols.
40 poiché sul mio monte santo, sull'alto monte d'Israele - oracolo del Signore Dio - mi servirà tutta la casa d'Israele, tutta riunita in quel paese; là mi saranno graditi e là richiederò le vostre offerte, le primizie dei vostri doni in qualunque forma me li consacrerete.	40 For on my holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- is where thewhole House of Israel, everyone in the country, wil worship me. There I shal accept and there expect yourpresents, your choicest offering and al your consecrated gifts.
41 Io vi accetterò come soave profumo, quando vi avrò liberati dai popoli e vi avrò radunati dai paesi nei quali foste dispersi: mi mostrerò santo in voi agli occhi delle genti.	41 I shal welcome you like a pleasing smell when I bring you back from the peoples and gather youfrom the countries throughout which you have been scattered, and through you I shal display my holiness for althe nations to see;
42 Allora voi saprete che io sono il Signore, quando vi condurrò nel paese d'Israele, nel paese che alzando la mia mano giurai di dare ai vostri padri.	42 and you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I bring you back to the soil of Israel, to the country which Ipledged my word to give to your ancestors.
43 Là vi ricorderete della vostra condotta, di tutti i misfatti dei quali vi siete macchiati, e proverete disgusto di voi stessi, per tutte le malvagità che avete commesse.	43 There you wil remember your past behaviour and al the actions by which you have defiledyourselves, and you wil loathe yourselves for al the wrongs which you have committed.
44 Allora saprete che io sono il Signore, quando agirò con voi per l'onore del mio nome e non secondo la vostra malvagia condotta e i vostri costumi corrotti, uomini d'Israele". Parola del Signore Dio.	44 And you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I treat you as respect for my own name requires, and notas your wicked behaviour and corrupt actions deserve, House of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '
