6 Sais-tu sur quoi reposent ses bases, et qui en a posé la pierre angulaire? | 6 What supports its pil ars at their bases? Who laid its cornerstone |
7 Les étoiles du matin, pour elle, chantèrent en chœur: tous les fils de Dieu poussaient des acclamations. | 7 to the joyful concert of the morning stars and unanimous acclaim of the sons of God? |
8 Qui enferma la mer à deux battants, lorsqu’elle jaillissait, sortant du sein, | 8 Who pent up the sea behind closed doors when it leapt tumultuous from the womb, |

11 Je lui ai dit alors: “Tu n’iras pas plus loin; ici se courbera l’orgueil de tes flots!” | 11 'Come so far,' I said, 'and no further; here your proud waves must break!' |
12 Mais toi, as-tu jamais commandé au matin, indiqué à l’aurore le lieu de son lever, | 12 Have you ever in your life given orders to the morning or sent the dawn to its post, |

27 irriguant un sol aride et désolé, pour que germe sur la steppe l’herbe verte? | 27 to meet the needs of the lonely wastes and make grass sprout on the thirsty ground? |

31 Est-ce toi qui as noué les liens des Pléiades ou qui élargiras les chaînes d’Orion? | 31 Can you fasten the harness of the Pleiades, or untie Orion's bands? |
32 Est-ce toi qui fais sortir la Couronne en son temps, et conduis la Grande Ourse avec ses petits? | 32 Can you guide the Crown season by season and show the Bear and its cubs which way to go? |
33 Connais-tu les lois astrales, fais-tu venir sur terre ce qui y est écrit? | 33 Have you grasped the celestial laws? Could you make their writ run on the earth? |
