1 The portion falling to the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans, was near the frontier of Edom, from thedesert of Zin southwards to Kadesh in the south.	1 Il territorio toccato in sorte alla tribù dei figli di Giuda, secondo i loro casati, si estendeva fino ai confini di Edom, dal deserto di Sin verso il Negheb, all’estremo meridione.
2 Their southern frontier began at the tip of the Salt Sea, at the southerly bay;	2 Il loro confine a mezzogiorno cominciava dalla parte estrema del Mar Morto, dalla punta rivolta verso mezzogiorno,
3 it proceeded south of the Ascent of Scorpions, crossed Zin and came up to Kadesh-Barnea from thesouth; past Hezron, it went on to Addar and turned towards Karka;	3 poi procedeva a meridione della salita di Akrabbìm, passava per Sin e risaliva a meridione di Kades-Barnea; passava poi da Chesron, saliva ad Addar e girava verso Karkà;
4 the frontier then went on to Azmon, came out at the Torrent of Egypt and reached as far as the sea.This is to be your southern frontier.	4 passava poi da Asmon e raggiungeva il torrente d’Egitto e faceva capo al mare. Questo era il loro confine meridionale.
5 The eastern frontier was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.	5 A oriente il confine era costituito dal Mar Morto fino alla foce del Giordano. Dal lato settentrionale il confine partiva dalla lingua di mare presso la foce del Giordano,
6 The northern boundary began at the bay at the mouth of the Jordan. The boundary went up to Beth-Hoglah, passed north of Beth-ha-Arabah and went on to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.	6 saliva a Bet-Cogla e passava a settentrione di Bet-Araba e saliva al sasso di Boan, figlio di Ruben.
7 The boundary then went on to Debir from the Vale of Achor and turned north towards the stone circleopposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the Torrent; the boundary went on to the Waters of En-Shemesh and came out at En-Rogel.	7 Poi il confine saliva a Debir, per la valle di Acor e, a settentrione, girava verso Gàlgala, che è di fronte alla salita di Adummìm, a mezzogiorno del torrente; passava poi alle acque di En-Semes e faceva capo a En-Roghel.
8 It then went back up the Val ey of Hinnom, coming from the south to the flank of the Jebusite -- that is,Jerusalem -- and climbed to the crest of the mountain barring the Valley of Hinnom to the west, at the northernend of the Val ey of the Rephaim.	8 Saliva poi la valle di Ben-Innòm sul versante meridionale dei Gebusei, cioè di Gerusalemme; poi il confine saliva sulla vetta della montagna che domina la valle di Innòm a occidente ed è all’estremità della valle dei Refaìm, a settentrione.
9 From the mountain top, the boundary curved round to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, went on tothe towns of Mount Ephron and then turned towards Baalah -- that is, Kiriath-Jearim.	9 Poi il confine piegava dalla vetta della montagna verso la fonte delle acque di Neftòach e usciva al monte Efron; piegava poi verso Baalà, che è Kiriat-Iearìm.
10 From Baalah, the boundary curved westwards to the highlands of Seir, skirted the northern slope ofMount Jearim -- that is, Chesalon -- went down to Beth-Shemesh and through Timnah,	10 Indi il confine girava da Baalà, a occidente, verso il monte Seir, passava sul pendio settentrionale del monte Iearìm, cioè Chesalòn, scendeva a Bet-Semes e passava per Timna.
11 came out on the northern flank of Ekron, turned towards Shikkeron and, passing through thehighlands of Baalah, came out at Jabneel, and reached as far as the sea.	11 Poi il confine raggiungeva il pendio settentrionale di Ekron, quindi piegava verso Siccaròn, passava per il monte Baalà, raggiungeva Iabneèl e terminava al mare.
12 The western boundary was the Great Sea itself. Such was the frontier surrounding the sons of Judah,by clans.	12 Il confine occidentale era il Mare Grande. Questo era nel complesso il territorio dei figli di Giuda, secondo i loro casati.
13 Caleb son of Jephunneh was given a share within that of the sons of Judah, in accordance withYahweh's order to Joshua: Kiriath-Arba, the town of the father of Anak -- that is, Hebron.	13 A Caleb, figlio di Iefunnè, fu data una parte in mezzo ai figli di Giuda, secondo l’ordine del Signore a Giosuè: fu data Kiriat-Arbà, padre di Anak, cioè Ebron.

15 From there he marched on the inhabitants of Debir; Debir in olden days was cal ed Kiriath-Sepher.	15 Di là passò ad assalire gli abitanti di Debir, che prima si chiamava Kiriat-Sefer.
16 Caleb then said, 'To the man who attacks and takes Kiriath-Sepher, I shal give my daughter Achsahas wife.'	16 Disse allora Caleb: «A chi colpirà Kiriat-Sefer e la prenderà, io darò in moglie mia figlia Acsa».
17 The man who captured it was Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, who gave him his daughterAchsah as wife.	17 La prese Otnièl, figlio di Kenaz, fratello di Caleb; a lui diede in moglie sua figlia Acsa.
18 When she arrived, he urged her to ask her father for arable land, but when she alighted from thedonkey and Caleb asked her, 'What is the matter?'	18 Ora, mentre andava dal marito, ella lo convinse a chiedere a suo padre un campo. Scese dall’asino e Caleb le disse: «Che hai?».
19 she said to him, 'Grant me a blessing! As the land you have given me is the Negeb, give me springsof water too!' So Caleb gave her what she wanted, the upper springs and the lower springs.	19 Ella rispose: «Concedimi un favore; poiché tu mi hai dato una terra arida, dammi anche qualche fonte d’acqua». Egli le donò la sorgente superiore e la sorgente inferiore.
