1 Thessalonians 5

1 About times and dates, brothers, there is no need to write to you	1 ועל דבר העתים והזמנים אין צרך לכתב אליכם אחי
2 for you are wel aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.	2 הלא אף אתם ידעתם היטב כי יום יהוה כגנב בלילה כן בוא יבוא
3 It is when people are saying, 'How quiet and peaceful it is' that sudden destruction fal s on them, assuddenly as labour pains come on a pregnant woman; and there is no escape.	3 כי בעת אמרם שלום ושלוה יבא עליהם השבר פתאם כחבלים על ההרה ולא יוכלו להמלט
4 But you, brothers, do not live in the dark, that the Day should take you unawares like a thief.	4 אבל אתם אחי אינכם בחשך שישיג אתכם היום כגנב
5 No, you are al children of light and children of the day: we do not belong to the night or to darkness,	5 אתם כלכם בני האור ובני היום לא בני הלילה אנחנו ולא בני החשך
6 so we should not go on sleeping, as everyone else does, but stay wide awake and sober.	6 לכן אל נא נרדם כמו האחרים כי אם נשקד וננזר
7 Night is the time for sleepers to sleep and night the time for drunkards to be drunk,	7 כי הנרדמים הם בלילה נרדמים והמשתכרים משתכרים בלילה
8 but we belong to the day and we should be sober; let us put on faith and love for a breastplate, and thehope of salvation for a helmet.	8 ואנחנו בני היום ננזרה נא ונלבש את שריון האמונה והאהבה וככובע את תקות הישועה
9 God destined us not for his retribution, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,	9 יען אשר לא יעדנו האלהים לחרון כי אם לנחל את הישועה על ידי אדנינו ישוע המשיח
10 who died for us so that, awake or asleep, we should stil live united to him.	10 אשר מת בעדנו למען אם נשקד ואם נישן חיה נחיה עמו יחד
11 So give encouragement to each other, and keep strengthening one another, as you do already.	11 על כן נחמו זה את זה ובנו איש את אחיו כאשר גם עשיתם
12 We appeal to you, my brothers, to be considerate to those who work so hard among you as yourleaders in the Lord and those who admonish you.	12 והננו מבקשים מכם אחי להכיר את העמלים בכם ואשר הם נצבים עליכם באדון ומוכיחים אתכם
13 Have the greatest respect and affection for them because of their work. Be at peace amongyourselves.	13 אשר תנהגו בם כבוד עד למעלה באהבה למען פעלתם ויהי שלום ביניכם
14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive,support the weak and be patient with everyone.	14 והננו מזהירים אתכם אחי הוכיחו את הסוררים אמצו את רכי הלבב תמכו את החלשים והאריכו רוח אל כל אדם
15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and foreveryone.	15 וראו פן ישלם איש לאיש רעה תחת רעה כי אם רדפו בכל עת את הטוב הן לאיש איש מכם הן לכל אדם
16 Always be joyful;	16 היו שמחים בכל עת
17 pray constantly;	17 התמידו בתפלה
18 and for al things give thanks; this is the wil of God for you in Christ Jesus.	18 הודו על הכל כי זה רצון האלהים אליכם במשיח ישוע
19 Do not stifle the Spirit	19 את הרוח לא תכבו
20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;	20 את הנבואות לא תמאסו
21 test everything and hold on to what is good	21 בחנו כל דבר ובטוב אחזו
22 and shun every form of evil.	22 התרחקו מכל הדומה לרע
23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be keptblameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.	23 והוא אלהי השלום יקדש אתכם קדשה שלמה וכל רוחכם ונפשכם וגופכם ישמר תמים בבוא אדנינו ישוע המשיח
24 He who has cal ed you is trustworthy and wil carry it out.	24 נאמן הקורא אתכם אשר גם יעשה
25 Pray for us, my brothers.	25 אחי התפללו בעדנו
26 Greet al the brothers with a holy kiss.	26 שאלו לשלום כל האחים בנשיקה הקדשה
27 My orders, in the Lord's name, are that this letter is to be read to al the brothers.	27 הנני משביעכם באדון שתקרא האגרת הזאת באזני כל האחים הקדשים
