1 About times and dates, brothers, there is no need to write to you	1 Intorno poi ai tempi, ed ai momenti, non avete bisogno, o fratelli, che noi vi scriviamo.
2 for you are wel aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.	2 Conciossiaché voi stessi sapete benissimo, che il dì del Signore verrà come il ladro notturno:
3 It is when people are saying, 'How quiet and peaceful it is' that sudden destruction fal s on them, assuddenly as labour pains come on a pregnant woman; and there is no escape.	3 Imperocché quando diranno, pace, e sicurezza, allora sopraggiungerà repentinamente ad essi la perdizione, come i dolori del parto a donna gravida, e non avranno scampo:
4 But you, brothers, do not live in the dark, that the Day should take you unawares like a thief.	4 Voi però, o fratelli, non siete nelle tenebre, onde quel dì vi sorprenda a guisa di ladro:
5 No, you are al children of light and children of the day: we do not belong to the night or to darkness,	5 Conciossiaché tutti voi siete figliuoli della luce, e figliuoli del giorno: noi siamo noi della notte, nè delle tenebre.
6 so we should not go on sleeping, as everyone else does, but stay wide awake and sober.	6 Non dormiamo adunque noi come gli altri, ma vegliamo, e siamo sobrj.
7 Night is the time for sleepers to sleep and night the time for drunkards to be drunk,	7 Imperocché que', che dormono, dormono nella notte: e que', che si inebriano, si inebriano nella notte.
8 but we belong to the day and we should be sober; let us put on faith and love for a breastplate, and thehope of salvation for a helmet.	8 Siamo perciò sobrj noi, che siamo (figliuoli) del giorno, rivestiti della corrazza della fede, e della carità, e della speranza della salute per cimiero:
9 God destined us not for his retribution, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,	9 Imperocché non ci ha Dio destinati all'ira, ma all'acquisto della salute pel Signor nostro Gesù Cristo,
10 who died for us so that, awake or asleep, we should stil live united to him.	10 Il quale è morto per noi: affinchè, sìa che vegliamo, sia che dormiamo, viviamo insieme con lui.
11 So give encouragement to each other, and keep strengthening one another, as you do already.	11 Per la qual cosa confortatevi gli uni, gli altri, e siate di edificazione l'uno, all'altro, come pur fate.
12 We appeal to you, my brothers, to be considerate to those who work so hard among you as yourleaders in the Lord and those who admonish you.	12 Vi preghiamo, o fratelli, che abbiate riguardo a coloro, che faticano tra voi, e a voi presiedono nel Signore, e vi istruiscono,
13 Have the greatest respect and affection for them because of their work. Be at peace amongyourselves.	13 E gli abbiate sommamente cari a motivo delle loro fatiche: state in pace con essi.
14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive,support the weak and be patient with everyone.	14 Vi preghiamo, o fratelli, correggete gli inquieti, consolate i pusillanimi, sostenete i deboli, siate pazienti con tutti.
15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and foreveryone.	15 Badate, che nissuno renda altrui male per male: ma cercate sempre di far del bene e tra di voi, e verso di tutti.
16 Always be joyful;	16 Siate sempre allegri.
17 pray constantly;	17 Orate senza intermissione.
18 and for al things give thanks; this is the wil of God for you in Christ Jesus.	18 Per tutte le cose rendete grazie: imperocché tale è la volontà di Dio in Cristo Gesù riguardo ti tutti voi.
19 Do not stifle the Spirit	19 Non ismorzate lo spirito.
20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;	20 Non disprezzate le profezie.
21 test everything and hold on to what is good	21 Disaminate tutto: attenetevi al buono.
22 and shun every form of evil.	22 Guardatevi da ogni apparenza di male.
23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be keptblameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.	23 E lo stesso Dio della pace vi santifichi in tutte le cose: affinchè tutto il vostro spirito, e l'anima, e il corpo si conservino senza colpa per la venuta del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
24 He who has cal ed you is trustworthy and wil carry it out.	24 Fedele è colui, che vi ha chiamati: ed egli ancora farà.
25 Pray for us, my brothers.	25 Fratelli, pregate per noi.
26 Greet al the brothers with a holy kiss.	26 Salutate tutti i fratelli col bacio santo.
27 My orders, in the Lord's name, are that this letter is to be read to al the brothers.	27 Vi scongiuro pel Signore, che questa lettera sia letta a tutti i santi fratelli.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.2Th 1:1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God our Father and the LordJesus Christ	28 La grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo con tutti voi. Così sia.
