New Jerusalem Bible	Peshitta ܦܫܝܼܛܬܵܐ
¹ He said to his disciples, 'Causes of fal ing are sure to come, but alas for the one through whom theyoccur!	¹ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܐܬܘܢ ܡܟܫܘܠܐ ܘܝ ܕܝܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܒܐܝܕܗ ܢܐܬܘܢ ܀
² It would be better for such a person to be thrown into the sea with a mil stone round the neck than tobe the downfal of a single one of these little ones.	² ܦܩܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܐܠܘ ܪܚܝܐ ܕܚܡܪܐ ܬܠܝܐ ܒܨܘܪܗ ܘܫܕܐ ܒܝܡܐ ܐܘ ܕܢܟܫܠ ܠܚܕ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܀
³ Keep watch on yourselves! 'If your brother does something wrong, rebuke him and, if he is sorry,forgive him.	³ ܐܙܕܗܪܘ ܒܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܐܢ ܢܚܛܐ ܐܚܘܟ ܟܐܝ ܒܗ ܘܐܢ ܬܐܒ ܫܒܘܩ ܠܗ ܀
⁴ And if he wrongs you seven times a day and seven times comes back to you and says, "I am sorry,"you must forgive him.'	⁴ ܘܐܢ ܫܒܥ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܢܤܟܠ ܒܟ ܘܫܒܥ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܢܬܦܢܐ ܠܘܬܟ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܕܬܐܒ ܐܢܐ ܫܒܘܩ ܠܗ ܀
⁵ The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith.'	⁵ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܠܡܪܢ ܐܘܤܦ ܠܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܀
⁶ The Lord replied, 'If you had faith like a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, "Be uprootedand planted in the sea," and it would obey you.	⁶ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܦܪܕܬܐ ܕܚܪܕܠܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܠܬܘܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܬܥܩܪ ܘܐܬܢܨܒ ܒܝܡܐ ܘܡܫܬܡܥ ܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܀
⁷ 'Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep, would say to him when he returned from thefields, "Come and have your meal at once"?	⁷ ܡܢܘ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܕܒܪ ܦܕܢܐ ܐܘ ܕܪܥܐ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܢ ܢܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܚܩܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܚܕܐ ܥܒܪ ܐܤܬܡܟ ܀
⁸ Would he not be more likely to say, "Get my supper ready; fasten your belt and wait on me while I eatand drink. You yourself can eat and drink afterwards"?	⁸ ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܛܝܒ ܠܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܚܫܡ ܘܐܤܘܪ ܚܨܝܟ ܫܡܫܝܢܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܐܠܥܤ ܘܐܫܬܐ ܘܒܬܪܟܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬ ܬܠܥܤ ܘܬܫܬܐ ܀
⁹ Must he be grateful to the servant for doing what he was told?	⁹ ܠܡܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܡܩܒܠ ܕܗܘ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܬܦܩܕ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܤܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܀
¹⁰ So with you: when you have done al you have been told to do, say, "We are useless servants: wehave done no more than our duty." '	¹⁰ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܥܒܕܬܘܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܦܩܝܕܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܡܪܘ ܕܥܒܕܐ ܚܢܢ ܒܛܝܠܐ ܕܡܕܡ ܕܚܝܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܥܒܕܢ ܀
¹¹ Now it happened that on the way to Jerusalem he was travel ing in the borderlands of Samaria andGalilee.	¹¹ ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܐܙܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܥܒܪ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ ܀
¹² As he entered one of the villages, ten men suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to meet him.They stood some way off	¹² ܘܟܕ ܩܪܝܒ ܠܡܥܠ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܐܪܥܘܗܝ ܥܤܪܐ ܐܢܫܝܢ ܓܪܒܐ ܘܩܡܘ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܀
¹³ and cal ed to him, 'Jesus! Master! Take pity on us.'	¹³ ܘܐܪܝܡܘ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܪܒܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝܢ ܀
¹⁴ When he saw them he said, 'Go and show yourselves to the priests.' Now as they were going awaythey were cleansed.	¹⁴ ܘܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܚܘܘ ܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܠܟܗܢܐ ܘܟܕ ܐܙܠܝܢ ܐܬܕܟܝܘ ܀
¹⁵ Finding himself cured, one of them turned back praising God at the top of his voice	¹⁵ ܚܕ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܕܐܬܕܟܝ ܗܦܟ ܠܗ ܘܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܡܫܒܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܀
¹⁶ and threw himself prostrate at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan.	¹⁶ ܘܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐܦܘܗܝ ܩܕܡ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܟܕ ܡܘܕܐ ܠܗ ܘܗܘ ܗܢܐ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܀
¹⁷ This led Jesus to say, 'Were not al ten made clean? The other nine, where are they?	¹⁷ ܥܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܤܪܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܬܕܟܝܘ ܐܝܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܬܫܥܐ ܀
¹⁸ It seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except this foreigner.'	¹⁸ ܠܡܐ ܦܪܫܘ ܕܢܐܬܘܢ ܢܬܠܘܢ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܐܠܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܗܘ ܢܘܟܪܝܐ ܀
¹⁹ And he said to the man, 'Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.'	¹⁹ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܩܘܡ ܙܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟ ܐܚܝܬܟ ܀
²⁰ Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was to come, he gave them this answer, 'Thecoming of the kingdom of God does not admit of observation	²⁰ ܘܟܕ ܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܡܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܐܡܬܝ ܐܬܝܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܢܛܘܪܬܐ ܀
²¹ and there will be no one to say, "Look, it is here! Look, it is there!" For look, the kingdom of God isamong you.'	²¹ ܘܠܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܐ ܗܪܟܐ ܗܝ ܘܗܐ ܗܪ ܬܡܢ ܗܝ ܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܓܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܗܝ ܀
²² He said to the disciples, 'A time wil come when you wil long to see one of the days of the Son ofman and wil not see it.	²² ܘܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܢܐܬܘܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܕܬܬܪܓܪܓܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܕܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܙܘܢ ܀
²³ They will say to you, "Look, it is there!" or, "Look, it is here!" Make no move; do not set off in pursuit;	²³ ܘܐܢ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܗܐ ܗܪܟܐ ܗܘ ܘܗܐ ܗܪ ܬܡܢ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ ܀
²⁴ for as the lightning flashing from one part of heaven lights up the other, so wil be the Son of manwhen his Day comes.	²⁴ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܒܪܩܐ ܒܪܩ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܝܐ ܡܢܗܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܒܝܘܡܗ ܀
²⁵ But first he is destined to suffer grievously and be rejected by this generation.	²⁵ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܕܝܢ ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘ ܕܢܚܫ ܤܓܝܐܬܐ ܘܢܤܬܠܐ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܀
²⁶ 'As it was in Noah's day, so wil it also be in the days of the Son of man.	²⁶ ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܬܗ ܕܢܘܚ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܬܗ ܕܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܀
²⁷ People were eating and drinking, marrying wives and husbands, right up to the day Noah went intothe ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all.	²⁷ ܕܐܟܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܫܬܝܢ ܘܢܤܒܝܢ ܢܫܐ ܘܝܗܒܝܢ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܥܠ ܢܘܚ ܠܟܘܝܠܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܛܘܦܢܐ ܘܐܘܒܕ ܠܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܀
²⁸ It wil be the same as it was in Lot's day: people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, plantingand building,	²⁸ ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܕܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܬܗ ܕܠܘܛ ܕܐܟܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܫܬܝܢ ܘܙܒܢܝܢ ܘܡܙܒܢܝܢ ܘܢܨܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܒܢܝܢ ܀
²⁹ but the day Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and it destroyed them all.	²⁹ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܦܩ ܠܘܛ ܡܢ ܤܕܘܡ ܐܡܛܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܢܘܪܐ ܘܟܒܪܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܘܒܕ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܀
³⁰ It wil be the same when the day comes for the Son of man to be revealed.	³⁰ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܡܬܓܠܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܀
³¹ 'When that Day comes, no one on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must come downto col ect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back.	³¹ ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܡܢ ܕܒܐܓܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܡܐܢܘܗܝ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܚܘܬ ܕܢܫܩܘܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܢ ܕܒܚܩܠܐ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܢܬܗܦܟ ܠܒܤܬܪܗ ܀
³² Remember Lot's wife.	³² ܐܬܕܟܪܘ ܠܐܢܬܬܗ ܕܠܘܛ ܀
³³ Anyone who tries to preserve his life wil lose it; and anyone who loses it wil keep it safe.	³³ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܢܚܐ ܢܦܫܗ ܢܘܒܕܝܗ ܘܡܢ ܕܢܘܒܕ ܢܦܫܗ ܢܚܝܗ ܀
³⁴ I tel you, on that night, when two are in one bed, one wil be taken, the other left;	³⁴ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܒܗܘ ܠܠܝܐ ܬܪܝܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܒܚܕܐ ܥܪܤܐ ܚܕ ܢܬܕܒܪ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܢܫܬܒܩ ܀
³⁵ when two women are grinding corn together, one wil be taken, the other left.'	³⁵ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܛܚܢܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܚܕܐ ܬܬܕܒܪ ܘܐܚܪܬܐ ܬܫܬܒܩ ܀
³⁶	³⁶ ܬܪܝܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܒܚܩܠܐ ܚܕ ܢܬܕܒܪ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܢܫܬܒܩ ܀
³⁷ The disciples spoke up and asked, 'Where, Lord?' He said, 'Where the body is, there too will thevultures gather.'	³⁷ ܥܢܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܡܪܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܬܡܢ ܢܬܟܢܫܘܢ ܢܫܪܐ ܀
