1 The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.	1 Principio del Vangelo di Gesù Cristo Figliuolo di Dio.
2 It is written in the prophet Isaiah: Look, I am going to send my messenger in front of you to prepare yourway before you.	2 Siccome sta scritto nel profeta Isaia: Ecco che io spedisco innanzi a te il mio Angelo, il quale preparerà la tua via dinanzi a te.
3 A voice of one that cries in the desert: Prepare a way for the Lord, make his paths straight.	3 Voce d'uno, che grida nel deserto: Preparate la via del Signore, addirizzate i suoi sentieri.
4 John the Baptist was in the desert, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.	4 Fu Giovanni nel deserto a battezzare, e predicare il battesimo della penitenza per la remissione de' peccati.
5 All Judaea and all the people of Jerusalem made their way to him, and as they were baptised by him inthe river Jordan they confessed their sins.	5 E tutto il paese della Giudea, e tutto il popolo di Gerusalemme andava a trovarlo, e confessando i loro peccati eran battezzati da lui nel fiume Giordano.
6 John wore a garment of camel-skin, and he lived on locusts and wild honey.	6 E Giovanni era vestito di pelo di cammello, e aveva ai fianchi una cintola di cuoio, e mangiava locuste, e miele selvatico. E predicava, dicendo:
7 In the course of his preaching he said, 'After me is coming someone who is more powerful than me, andI am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals.	7 Viene dietro di me chi è più forte di me: cui non son io degno di sciogliere prostrato a terra la coreggia delle scarpe.
8 I have baptised you with water, but he wil baptise you with the Holy Spirit.'	8 Io vi ho battezzato con acqua; ma egli vi battezzerà con lo Spirito santo.
9 It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John.	9 E accadde in qne' giorni, che Gesù si partì da Nazaret della Galilei, e fù battezzato da Giovanni nel Giordano.
10 And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, likea dove, descending on him.	10 E subito nell'uscire dall'acqua, vide aprirsi i cieli, e lo Spirito quasi colomba scendere, e posarsi sopra di lui.
11 And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.'	11 E una voce venne dal cielo: Tu se' il mio figliuolo diletto, in te mi sono compiaciuto.
12 And at once the Spirit drove him into the desert	12 E immediatamente lo Spirito lo spinse nel deserto.
13 and he remained there for forty days, and was put to the test by Satan. He was with the wild animals,and the angels looked after him.	13 E stette nel deserto quaranta giorni, e quaranta notti: ed era tentato da Satana: e stava colle fiere selvatiche, ed era servito dagli Angeli.
14 After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the gospel from Godsaying,	14 Ma dopo che Giovanni fu messo in prigione, Gesù andò nella Galilea, predicando il Vangelo del regno di Dio,
15 'The time is fulfil ed, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.'	15 E dicendo: E compito il tempo, e si avvicina il regno di Dio: Fate penitenza, e credete al Vangelo.
16 As he was walking along by the Lake of Galilee he saw Simon and Simon's brother Andrew casting anet in the lake -- for they were fishermen.	16 E passando lungo il mare di Galilea, e vide Simone, e Andrea suo fratello, che gettavano in mare le reti (conciossiachè erano pescatori):
17 And Jesus said to them, 'Come after me and I will make you into fishers of people.'	17 E disse loro Gesù: Seguitemi, e farovvi pescatori d'uomini.
18 And at once they left their nets and fol owed him.	18 E subito abbandonate le reti, lo seguitarono.
19 Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in theirboat, mending the nets.	19 E andato un po' avanti, vide Giacomo figliuolo di Zebedeo, e Giovanni suo fratello, ch'erano anch' essi in barca rassettando le reti:
20 At once he called them and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, theywent after him.	20 E subito li chiamò. Ed essi, lasciato il loro padre Zebedeo nella barca co' garzoni, lo seguitarono.
21 They went as far as Capernaum, and at once on the Sabbath he went into the synagogue and beganto teach.	21 Ed entrarono in Cafarnaum: ed egli entrato in sabato nella sinagoga insegnava.
22 And his teaching made a deep impression on them because, unlike the scribes, he taught them withauthority.	22 E restavano stupefatti della sua dottrina: imperocché insegnava loro, come uno, che abbia autorità, e non come gli Scribi.
23 And at once in their synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted,	23 Ed eravi nella loro sinagoga un uomo posseduto dallo spirito immondo, il quale esclamò,
24 'What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are:the Holy One of God.'	24 Dicendo: Che abbiamo noi a fare con te, o Gesù Nazareno? se' tu venuto per mandarci in perdizione? io so, chi sei. Santo di Dio.
25 But Jesus rebuked it saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!'	25 E Gesù lo sgridò, dicendo: Taci, e partiti da costui.
26 And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him.	26 E lo spirito immondo, dopo averlo straziato, usci, urlando forte, da lui.
27 The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it al meant, saying, 'Here isa teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.'	27 E tutti restarono ammirati; talmente che si domandavano gli uni agli altri; Che è mai ciò? e qual nuova dottrina è questa? poiché egli comanda con autorità anche agli spirili immondi, e lo ubbidiscono.
28 And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.	28 E si divolgò subito la fama di lui per tutto il paese della Galilea.
29 And at once on leaving the synagogue, he went with James and John straight to the house of Simonand Andrew.	29 E appena usciti della sinagoga andarono a casa di Simone, e di Andrea con Giacomo, e Giovanni.
30 Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed and feverish, and at once they told him about her.	30 Or la suocera di Simone era allettata con febbre: e a prima giunta gli pariamo di lei.
31 He went in to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her and she began toserve them.	31 Ed egli accostatoci ad ossa, e presala per mano, l'alzò: e sabito lasciolla la febbre, ed ella ai mise a servirli.
32 That evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed bydevils.	32 E fattosi sera, e tramontato il sole, gli conducevan davanti tutti i malati, e gl'indemoniati.
33 The whole town came crowding round the door,	33 E tutta la città si era affollata alla porta.
34 and he cured many who were sick with diseases of one kind or another; he also drove out manydevils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.	34 E curò molti afflitti da varj malori e cacciò molti demonj, e non permetteva loro di dire, che lo conoscevano.
35 In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place andprayed there.	35 E alzatosi di gran mattina usci fuora, ed andò in un luogo solitario, e quivi stava in orazione.
36 Simon and his companions set out in search of him,	36 Ma Simone, e quelli, che si trovavan con lui, gli tenner dietro.
37 and when they found him they said, 'Everybody is looking for you.'	37 E trovatolo, gli dissero: Tutti ti cercano.
38 He answered, 'Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can proclaim themessage there too, because that is why I came.'	38 Ed egli disse loro: Andiamo per li villaggi, e per le vicine città, affinchè quivi ancora io predichi: dappoiché a questo fine sono venuto.
39 And he went all through Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out devils.	39 E andava predicando nelle loro sinagoge, e per tutta la Galilea, e discacciava i demonj.
40 A man suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to him and pleaded on his knees saying, 'If you arewil ing, you can cleanse me.'	40 E andò a trovarlo un lebbroso, il quale raccomandandosi a lui, e inginocchiatosi gli disse: Se vuoi; tu puoi mondarmi.
41 Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said to him, 'I am willing. Becleansed.'	41 E Gesù mosso a compassione, stese la sua mano, e toccandolo, disselli: Io voglio. Sii mondato.
42 And at once the skin-disease left him and he was cleansed.	42 E detto che egli ebbe, spari da colui la lebbra, e fu mondato.
43 And at once Jesus sternly sent him away and said to him,	43 E Gesù con rampogne subito lo cacciò via:
44 'Mind you tel no one anything, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for yourcleansing prescribed by Moses as evidence to them.'	44 E gli disse: Guardati dal dir nulla chicchessia; ma va, fatti vedere al principe de' sacerdoti, e offerisci per la tua purgazione quello, che ha ordinato Mosè in testimonianza (di rispetto) per essi.
45 The man went away, but then started freely proclaiming and tel ing the story everywhere, so thatJesus could no longer go openly into any town, but stayed outside in deserted places. Even so, people from alaround kept coming to him.	45 Ma quegli andatosene, cominciò a vociferare, e pubblicare il fatto; talmente che non poteva più entrare scopertamente in città; ma se ne stava fuori in luoghi solitarj, e andavano a trovarlo da tutte le parti.
