1 The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.	1 Jézus Krisztus, Isten Fia evangéliumának kezdete.
2 It is written in the prophet Isaiah: Look, I am going to send my messenger in front of you to prepare yourway before you.	2 Amint meg van írva Izajás prófétánál: »Íme, elküldöm küldöttemet színed előtt, aki elkészíti utadat;
3 A voice of one that cries in the desert: Prepare a way for the Lord, make his paths straight.	3 a pusztában kiáltónak szava: ‘Készítsétek az Úr útját, tegyétek egyenessé ösvényeit’« ,
4 John the Baptist was in the desert, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.	4 János megjelent a pusztában: keresztelt és hirdette a bűnbánat keresztségét a bűnök bocsánatára.
5 All Judaea and all the people of Jerusalem made their way to him, and as they were baptised by him inthe river Jordan they confessed their sins.	5 Kiment hozzá Júdea egész vidéke és a jeruzsálemiek mindnyájan. Megkeresztelte őket a Jordán folyóban, miután megvallották bűneiket.
6 John wore a garment of camel-skin, and he lived on locusts and wild honey.	6 János öltözete teveszőrből volt, és bőröv a csípője körül, sáskákat és vadmézet evett.
7 In the course of his preaching he said, 'After me is coming someone who is more powerful than me, andI am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals.	7 Így prédikált: »Utánam jön, aki erősebb nálam, akinek nem vagyok méltó leborulva megoldani a saruja szíját.
8 I have baptised you with water, but he wil baptise you with the Holy Spirit.'	8 Én vízzel kereszteltelek titeket, ő pedig Szentlélekkel fog benneteket megkeresztelni.«
9 It was at this time that Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John.	9 Történt azokban a napokban, hogy eljött Jézus a galileai Názáretből, és János megkeresztelte őt a Jordánban.
10 And at once, as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, likea dove, descending on him.	10 Amint feljött a vízből, látta, hogy megnyílnak az egek, és a Lelket, mint galambot leszállni rá.
11 And a voice came from heaven, 'You are my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.'	11 Az égből szózat hangzott: »Te vagy az én szeretett fiam, benned kedvem telik« .
12 And at once the Spirit drove him into the desert	12 Ezután a Lélek azonnal elragadta őt a pusztába.
13 and he remained there for forty days, and was put to the test by Satan. He was with the wild animals,and the angels looked after him.	13 A pusztában volt negyven napig; a sátán kísértette. A vadállatokkal volt, és az angyalok szolgáltak neki.
14 After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the gospel from Godsaying,	14 Miután János átadatott, Jézus Galileába ment, hogy hirdesse Isten evangéliumát.
15 'The time is fulfil ed, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.'	15 Azt mondta: »Betelt az idő, és elközelgett az Isten országa. Tartsatok bűnbánatot, és higgyetek az evangéliumban.«
16 As he was walking along by the Lake of Galilee he saw Simon and Simon's brother Andrew casting anet in the lake -- for they were fishermen.	16 Amikor a galileai tenger mellett elment, meglátta Simont és testvérét Andrást, amint hálót vetettek a tengerbe, mert halászok voltak.
17 And Jesus said to them, 'Come after me and I will make you into fishers of people.'	17 Jézus azt mondta nekik: »Jöjjetek utánam, és én emberek halászaivá teszlek titeket!«
18 And at once they left their nets and fol owed him.	18 Ők azonnal elhagyták hálóikat, és követték őt.
19 Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in theirboat, mending the nets.	19 Kissé továbbmenve meglátta Jakabot, Zebedeus fiát, és testvérét, Jánost, amint ők is a hálóikat javították a hajóban,
20 At once he called them and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, theywent after him.	20 és azonnal hívta őket. Azok pedig elhagyva apjukat, Zebedeust a béresekkel együtt a hajóban, követték őt.
21 They went as far as Capernaum, and at once on the Sabbath he went into the synagogue and beganto teach.	21 Bementek Kafarnaumba. Szombaton mindjárt bement a zsinagógába és tanított.
22 And his teaching made a deep impression on them because, unlike the scribes, he taught them withauthority.	22 Álmélkodtak a tanításán, mert úgy tanította őket, mint akinek hatalma van, és nem úgy, mint az írástudók.
23 And at once in their synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted,	23 Volt a zsinagógájukban egy ember a tisztátalan lélek hatalmában. Ez így kiáltott föl:
24 'What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are:the Holy One of God.'	24 »Mi közünk hozzád, Názáreti Jézus! Azért jöttél, hogy elveszíts minket? Tudom ki vagy: az Isten Szentje!«
25 But Jesus rebuked it saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!'	25 Jézus megparancsolta neki: »Némulj el, és menj ki belőle.«
26 And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him.	26 A tisztátalan lélek erre össze-vissza rángatta őt, majd hangosan kiáltva kiment belőle.
27 The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it al meant, saying, 'Here isa teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.'	27 Erre mindnyájan elcsodálkoztak, s azt kérdezték egymástól: »Mi ez? Új tanítás, hatalommal? Még a tisztátalan lelkeknek is parancsol, és azok engedelmeskednek neki.«
28 And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.	28 Egyszerre elterjedt a híre Galilea egész vidékén.
29 And at once on leaving the synagogue, he went with James and John straight to the house of Simonand Andrew.	29 Ezután mindjárt kiment a zsinagógából, és elmentek Simon és András házába Jakabbal és Jánossal együtt.
30 Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed and feverish, and at once they told him about her.	30 Simon anyósa lázasan feküdt. Mindjárt szóltak is Jézusnak miatta.
31 He went in to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her and she began toserve them.	31 Odament hozzá, és felsegítette a kezénél fogva. Erre rögtön elhagyta a láz, és felszolgált nekik.
32 That evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and those who were possessed bydevils.	32 Amikor beesteledett és a nap lement, odavitték hozzá az összes beteget és a megszállottakat:
33 The whole town came crowding round the door,	33 az egész város odagyűlt az ajtóhoz.
34 and he cured many who were sick with diseases of one kind or another; he also drove out manydevils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.	34 Meggyógyított sok, különféle bajokban sínylődő beteget, és sok ördögöt űzött ki, de nem hagyta őket szóhoz jutni, mert azok ismerték őt.
35 In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place andprayed there.	35 Másnap korán hajnalban fölkelt, kiment, és elment egy elhagyatott helyre, hogy ott imádkozzék.
36 Simon and his companions set out in search of him,	36 Simon, és akik vele voltak, utána mentek.
37 and when they found him they said, 'Everybody is looking for you.'	37 Amikor megtalálták, azt mondták neki: »Mindenki téged keres.«
38 He answered, 'Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can proclaim themessage there too, because that is why I came.'	38 Azt felelte: »Menjünk máshova, a szomszédos helységekbe, hogy ott is hirdessem az igét, mert azért jöttem.«
39 And he went all through Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out devils.	39 És bejárta egész Galileát, tanított a zsinagógáikban, és ördögöket űzött.
40 A man suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to him and pleaded on his knees saying, 'If you arewil ing, you can cleanse me.'	40 Akkor odajött hozzá egy leprás, és térdre esve így kérlelte: »Ha akarod, meg tudsz tisztítani engem.«
41 Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him and said to him, 'I am willing. Becleansed.'	41 Jézus megkönyörült rajta. Kinyújtotta kezét, megérintette, s azt mondta neki: »Akarom, tisztulj meg!«
42 And at once the skin-disease left him and he was cleansed.	42 Amikor ezt kimondta, azonnal eltűnt róla a lepra, és megtisztult.
43 And at once Jesus sternly sent him away and said to him,	43 Erélyesen ráparancsolt, és azonnal elküldte őt e szavakkal:
44 'Mind you tel no one anything, but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for yourcleansing prescribed by Moses as evidence to them.'	44 »Vigyázz, senkinek se szólj erről; hanem eredj, mutasd meg magadat a papnak , és ajánld föl tisztulásodért, amit Mózes rendelt, bizonyságul nekik.«
45 The man went away, but then started freely proclaiming and tel ing the story everywhere, so thatJesus could no longer go openly into any town, but stayed outside in deserted places. Even so, people from alaround kept coming to him.	45 De az, mihelyt elment, híresztelni kezdte a dolgot, úgyhogy Jézus már nem mehetett nyilvánosan a városba, hanem kint a puszta helyeken tartózkodott; és hozzá gyülekeztek mindenfelől.
