1 'Then the kingdom of Heaven wil be like this: Ten wedding attendants took their lamps and went tomeet the bridegroom.	1 - Allora il regno de' cieli sarà simile a dieci vergini, le quali, prese le loro lampade, uscirono incontro allo sposo.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible:	2 Di esse cinque erano stolte e cinque prudenti.
3 the foolish ones, though they took their lamps, took no oil with them,	3 Or le stolte, nel prendere le lampade, non s'eran provvedute d'olio;
4 whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as wel as their lamps.	4 le prudenti invece portarono insieme con le lampade, anche l'olio nei vasetti.
5 The bridegroom was late, and they al grew drowsy and fell asleep.	5 Siccome lo sposo tardava, cominciarono a sonnecchiare e si addormentarono.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, "Look! The bridegroom! Go out and meet him."	6 Sulla mezzanotte s'udì un grido: - Ecco lo sposo, che viene, andategli incontro! -
7 Then al those wedding attendants woke up and trimmed their lamps,	7 Si levarono allora tutte quelle vergini e prepararon le lampade.
8 and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, "Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out."	8 E le stolte dissero alle prudenti: - Dateci un po' del vostro olio perchè le nostre lampade si spengono. -
9 But they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sel itand buy some for yourselves."	9 Ma le prudenti risposero: - No, che poi non basterebbe nè a noi nè a voi; andatevene piuttosto da quelli che lo vendono e compratene. -
10 They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him tothe wedding hall and the door was closed.	10 Ma, intanto che esse andavano a comprarne, arrivò lo sposo; e quelle che eran pronte, entraron con lui nella sala delle nozze e l'uscio fu chiuso.
11 The other attendants arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for us."	11 Più tardi, vennero l'altre vergini, dicendo: - Signore, Signore, aprici! -
12 But he replied, "In truth I tel you, I do not know you."	12 Ma egli rispose: - In verità vi dico: non vi conosco. -
13 So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.	13 Vigilate, dunque, poichè non sapete nè il giorno nè l'ora.
14 'It is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them.	14 Poichè avverrà come di un uomo, il quale sul punto di mettersi in viaggio, chiamò i suoi servi e consegnò loro i suoi beni.
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then heset out on his journey.	15 A uno diede cinque talenti, a un altro due e a un altro uno, a ciascuno secondo la sua capacità, e subito partì.
16 The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more.	16 Colui che aveva ricevuto cinque talenti andò subito a trafficarli e ne guadagnò altri cinque.
17 The man who had received two made two more in the same way.	17 Allo stesso modo colui che n'aveva ricevuti due, ne guadagnò altri due.
18 But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master'smoney.	18 Ma chi ne aveva ricevuto uno, se ne andò a fare una buca in terra e vi sotterrò il denaro del suo padrone.
19 Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accountswith them.	19 Dopo molto tempo ritornò il padrone di quei servi e li chiamò a rendere i conti.
20 The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. "Sir," he said, "youentrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made."	20 Venne chi aveva ricevuto cinque talenti e ne presentò altri cinque, dicendo: - Signore, mi hai affidato cinque talenti, ecco, ne ho guadagnati altri cinque. -
21 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	21 Il suo padrone gli rispose: - Va bene, servo buono e fedele; sei stato fedele nel poco, ti darò autorità sul molto; entra nel gaudio del tuo padrone. -
22 Next the man with the two talents came forward. "Sir," he said, "you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made."	22 Si presentò poi anche quello che aveva ricevuto due talenti e disse: - Signore, tu mi hai affidato due talenti; ecco, ne ho guadagnati altri due. -
23 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	23 Il padrone gli disse: - Va bene, servo buono e fedele; sei stato fedele nel poco, ti darò autorità sul molto; entra nel gaudio del tuo padrone. -
24 Last came forward the man who had the single talent. "Sir," said he, "I had heard you were a hardman, reaping where you had not sown and gathering where you had not scattered;	24 Venne pure quello che aveva ricevuto un solo talento e disse: - Signore, io sapevo che tu sei uomo severo, che mieti dove non hai seminato e raccogli dove non hai sparso;
25 so I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is; it was yours, you have itback."	25 ebbi paura e andai a nascondere il tuo talento sotterra; eccoti il tuo. -
26 But his master answered him, "You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I havenot sown and gather where I have not scattered?	26 Ma il padrone gli rispose così: - Servo iniquo e infingardo, sapevi che io mieto dove non ho seminato e raccolgo dove non ho sparso;
27 Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have gotmy money back with interest.	27 dovevi dunque portare il mio denaro ai banchieri, e al mio ritorno avrei ritirato il mio con l'interesse.
28 So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents.	28 Toglietegli perciò il talento e datelo a colui che ne ha dieci;
29 For to everyone who has wil be given more, and he wil have more than enough; but anyone whohas not, wil be deprived even of what he has.	29 perchè a chi ha, sarà dato di più ed egli sarà nell'abbondanza; ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche quel [poco] che ha.
30 As for this good-for-nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weepingand grinding of teeth."	30 E questo servo inutile gettatelo nelle tenebre esterne; ivi sarà pianto e stridor di denti. - Il giudizio finale
31 'When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by al the angels, then he will take his seat on histhrone of glory.	31 Quando il Figliuol dell'uomo verrà nella sua gloria con tutti gli angeli, allora sederà sul trono della sua gloria.
32 Al nations wil be assembled before him and he wil separate people one from another as theshepherd separates sheep from goats.	32 Tutte le genti saranno adunate innanzi a lui ed egli separerà gli uni dagli altri, come il pastore separa le pecore dai capretti
33 He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.	33 e metterà le pecore alla sua destra e i capretti alla sinistra.
34 Then the King wil say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take asyour heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.	34 Allora il Re dirà a quanti saranno alla sua destra: - Venite, o benedetti dal Padre mio; possedete il regno che vi è stato preparato fin dalla fondazione del mondo.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger andyou made me welcome,	35 Perchè io ebbi fame e voi mi deste da mangiare; ebbi sete e mi deste da bere; fui pellegrino e m'avete accolto;
36 lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me."	36 fui ignudo e m'avete rivestito; fui infermo e mi visitaste; fui in prigione e mi veniste a trovare. -
37 Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirstyand give you drink?	37 Allora i giusti gli domanderanno: - Signore, quando mai ti abbiam visto aver fame e ti abbiam dato da mangiare? e aver sete e ti abbiam dato da bere?
38 When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you?	38 Quando t'abbiam veduto pellegrino e ti abbiamo accolto? o ignudo e ti abbiam rivestito?
39 When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?"	39 Quando mai ti abbiam veduto infermo o in prigione e siam venuti a trovarti? -
40 And the King wil answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of thesebrothers of mine, you did it to me."	40 E il Re risponderà loro: - In verità vi dico, che tutte le volte che avete fatto qualche cosa a uno di questi minimi tra i miei fratelli, l'avete fatta a me. -
41 Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to theeternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	41 Allora dirà a quelli di sinistra: - Andate via da me, maledetti, nel fuoco eterno, che è preparato per il diavolo e i suoi angeli.
42 For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink,	42 Perchè io ebbi fame e voi non mi deste da mangiare; ebbi sete e non mi deste da bere;
43 I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sickand in prison and you never visited me."	43 fui pellegrino e non mi avete accolto; ignudo, e non mi rivestiste; infermo e in prigione e non mi veniste a trovare. -
44 Then it wil be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lackingclothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?"	44 Allora anche costoro domanderanno: - Signore, quando ti abbiam veduto aver fame o sete, o esser pellegrino, o ignudo, o infermo, o in prigione e non ti abbiamo assistito? -
45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least ofthese, you neglected to do it to me."	45 Allora egli risponderà loro: - Io vi dico in verità che tutte le volte che voi non l'avete fatto a uno di questi minimi tra i miei fratelli, non l'avete fatto a me. -
46 And they wil go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.'	46 E questi se n'andranno nell'eterno supplizio, i giusti invece alla vita eterna».
