1 'Then the kingdom of Heaven wil be like this: Ten wedding attendants took their lamps and went tomeet the bridegroom.	1 “Voyez ce qui se passera alors dans le Royaume des Cieux. Dix jeunes filles ont pris leurs lampes et sont parties à la rencontre du marié.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible:	2 Cinq d’entre elles sont des étourdies, mais les cinq autres savent prévoir.
3 the foolish ones, though they took their lamps, took no oil with them,	3 Les étourdies ont pris leurs lampes, mais n’ont pas emporté d’huile en plus,
4 whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as wel as their lamps.	4 tandis que les prévoyantes ont pris en même temps que leurs lampes une réserve d’huile.
5 The bridegroom was late, and they al grew drowsy and fell asleep.	5 “Mais voici que le marié se fait attendre; toutes les filles tombent de sommeil et bientôt elles s’endorment.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, "Look! The bridegroom! Go out and meet him."	6 “Au milieu de la nuit on entend un cri: ‘Voici le marié, sortez pour le recevoir!’
7 Then al those wedding attendants woke up and trimmed their lamps,	7 Toutes aussitôt se réveillent et préparent leurs lampes.
8 and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, "Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out."	8 Les étourdies disent alors aux prévoyantes: ‘Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes sont près de s’éteindre.’
9 But they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sel itand buy some for yourselves."	9 Mais les prévoyantes répondent: ‘Il n’y en aurait sûrement pas assez pour nous et pour vous. Allez trouver ceux qui en vendent et achetez-en pour vous.’
10 They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him tothe wedding hall and the door was closed.	10 “Les voilà donc parties pour en acheter, et c’est alors que le marié arrive. Celles qui sont prêtes à le recevoir entrent avec lui pour les noces, et on referme la porte.
11 The other attendants arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for us."	11 “Plus tard arrivent aussi les autres: ‘Seigneur, Seigneur, disent-elles, ouvre-nous!’
12 But he replied, "In truth I tel you, I do not know you."	12 Mais lui répond: ‘En vérité, je vous le dis, je ne vous connais pas!’
13 So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.	13 “Restez donc éveillés car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l’heure.”
14 'It is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them.	14 “Écoutez encore ceci: Un homme, avant de partir à l’étranger, fait appeler ses serviteurs pour leur remettre son argent.
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then heset out on his journey.	15 Il donne au premier cinq talents, à un autre deux, et au troisième un talent: à chacun selon sa capacité. Puis il part.
16 The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more.	16 “Celui qui a reçu les cinq talents va immédiatement les faire travailler et il en gagne cinq autres.
17 The man who had received two made two more in the same way.	17 Celui qui en a reçu deux fait de même et en gagne deux autres.
18 But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master'smoney.	18 Quant à celui qui n’en a reçu qu’un, il fait un trou dans la terre et cache l’argent de son maître.
19 Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accountswith them.	19 “Longtemps après, le maître de ces serviteurs vient leur demander des comptes.
20 The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. "Sir," he said, "youentrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made."	20 Celui qui a reçu les cinq talents lui en présente cinq de plus: ‘Seigneur, dit-il, tu m’as confié cinq talents, en voici cinq autres que j’ai gagnés.’
21 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	21 Son maître alors lui déclare: ‘Très bien, bon et fidèle serviteur, tu as été fidèle pour une petite chose, je te confierai beaucoup plus; viens partager la joie de ton maître.’
22 Next the man with the two talents came forward. "Sir," he said, "you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made."	22 “Celui qui a reçu les deux talents s’avance à son tour: ‘Seigneur, dit-il, tu m’as confié deux talents, en voici deux autres que j’ai gagnés.’
23 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	23 Son maître répond: ‘Très bien, bon et fidèle serviteur, tu as été fidèle pour une petite chose, je te confierai beaucoup plus; viens partager la joie de ton maître.’
24 Last came forward the man who had the single talent. "Sir," said he, "I had heard you were a hardman, reaping where you had not sown and gathering where you had not scattered;	24 “Celui qui n’a reçu qu’un talent s’avance alors et dit: ‘Seigneur, je savais que tu es un homme dur. Tu moissonnes là où tu n’as pas semé et tu amasses quand tu n’as rien engagé.
25 so I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is; it was yours, you have itback."	25 J’ai donc pris peur et je suis allé cacher ton talent dans la terre. Voilà ce qui t’appartient.’
26 But his master answered him, "You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I havenot sown and gather where I have not scattered?	26 “Mais son maître lui répond: ‘Mauvais serviteur, bon à rien, tu savais que je moissonne là où je n’ai pas semé et que j’amasse quand je n’ai rien engagé.
27 Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have gotmy money back with interest.	27 Mais alors, tu devais placer mon argent à la banque: à mon retour j’aurais repris ce qui est à moi avec les intérêts.
28 So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents.	28 “Prenez-lui donc ce talent et donnez-le à celui qui en a dix.
29 For to everyone who has wil be given more, and he wil have more than enough; but anyone whohas not, wil be deprived even of what he has.	29 On donnera à celui qui produit et il sera dans l’abondance, mais celui qui ne produit pas, on lui prendra même ce qu’il a.
30 As for this good-for-nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weepingand grinding of teeth."	30 Et ce serviteur inutile, jetez-le dehors dans les ténèbres: là il y aura pleurs et grincements de dents.’”
31 'When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by al the angels, then he will take his seat on histhrone of glory.	31 “Lorsque le Fils de l’Homme viendra dans sa gloire accompagné de tous les anges, il s’assiéra sur le trône de Gloire, le sien.
32 Al nations wil be assembled before him and he wil separate people one from another as theshepherd separates sheep from goats.	32 Toutes les nations seront amenées devant lui; il séparera les uns d’avec les autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis d’avec les chèvres.
33 He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.	33 À sa droite il rangera les brebis, et à sa gauche les chèvres.
34 Then the King wil say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take asyour heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.	34 “Alors le Roi dira à ceux qui sont à sa droite: ‘Venez, les bénis de mon Père, prenez possession du Royaume qui est préparé pour vous depuis la création du monde.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger andyou made me welcome,	35 Car j’ai eu faim et vous m’avez donné à manger; j’ai eu soif et vous m’avez donné à boire; j’étais étranger et vous m’avez accueilli,
36 lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me."	36 sans vêtement, et vous m’avez habillé. J’étais malade et vous m’avez visité, j’étais en prison et vous êtes venus vers moi.’
37 Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirstyand give you drink?	37 “Alors les justes lui demanderont: ‘Quand donc, Seigneur, t’avons-nous vu affamé pour ainsi te nourrir? Quand t’avons-nous vu assoiffé et t’avons-nous donné à boire?
38 When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you?	38 Quand t’avons-nous vu étranger et t’avons-nous accueilli, quand étais-tu sans vêtements et t’avons-nous vêtu,
39 When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?"	39 quand t’avons-nous vu malade ou en prison et sommes-nous venus à toi?’
40 And the King wil answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of thesebrothers of mine, you did it to me."	40 “Et le roi leur répondra: ‘En vérité je vous le dis, tout ce que vous avez fait à l’un de ces petits qui sont mes frères, c’est à moi que vous l’avez fait.’
41 Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to theeternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	41 “Puis il dira à ceux qui sont à sa gauche: ‘Retirez-vous loin de moi, maudits! Allez au feu éternel qui a été préparé pour le démon et pour ses anges.
42 For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink,	42 Car j’ai eu faim et vous ne m’avez pas donné à manger; j’avais soif et vous ne m’avez pas donné à boire;
43 I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sickand in prison and you never visited me."	43 j’étais étranger et vous ne m’avez pas accueilli, sans vêtement, et vous ne m’avez pas habillé; malade et en prison, et vous ne m’avez pas visité.’
44 Then it wil be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lackingclothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?"	44 “Tous alors protesteront: ‘Seigneur, quand t’avons-nous vu affamé ou assoiffé, quand t’avons-nous vu étranger, sans vêtement, malade et en prison, sans te porter secours?’
45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least ofthese, you neglected to do it to me."	45 Et lui leur répondra: ‘En vérité, je vous le dis, si vous ne l’avez pas fait à l’un de ces petits, c’est à moi que vous ne l’avez pas fait.’
46 And they wil go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.'	46 “Alors ceux-ci iront au châtiment éternel, et les justes à la vie éternelle.”
