1 'Then the kingdom of Heaven wil be like this: Ten wedding attendants took their lamps and went tomeet the bridegroom.	1 Allora sarà simile il regno de' cieli a dieci vergini, le quali avendo prese le loro lampane, andarono in contro allo sposo, e alla sposa.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible:	2 Ma cinque di esse erano stolte, e cinque prudenti.
3 the foolish ones, though they took their lamps, took no oil with them,	3 Or le cinque stolte, prese avendo le loro lampane, non portaron seco dell'olio:
4 whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as wel as their lamps.	4 Le prudenti poi insieme colle lampane presero dell'olio ne' vasi loro.
5 The bridegroom was late, and they al grew drowsy and fell asleep.	5 E tardando lo sposo, assonnarono tutte, e si addormentarono.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, "Look! The bridegroom! Go out and meet him."	6 E a mezzanotte levossi un grido: Ecco lo sposo viene, andategli incontro.
7 Then al those wedding attendants woke up and trimmed their lamps,	7 Allora si alzarono tutte quelle vergini, e misero in ordine le loro lampane.
8 and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, "Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out."	8 Ma le stolte dissero alle prudenti: Dateci del vostro olio, perché le nostre lampane si spengono.
9 But they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sel itand buy some for yourselves."	9 Risposero le prudenti, e dissero: Perché non ne manchi a voi, e a noi, andate piuttosto da chi ne vende, e compratevene.
10 They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him tothe wedding hall and the door was closed.	10 Ma in quello, che andavano a comperarne, arrivò lo sposo; e quelle, che erano preparate, entraron con lui alle nozze, e fu chiusa la porta.
11 The other attendants arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for us."	11 All'ultimo vennero anche le altre vergini, dicendo: Signore, Signore, aprici.
12 But he replied, "In truth I tel you, I do not know you."	12 Ma egli rispose, e disse: In verità, vi dico, non so, chi siate.
13 So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.	13 Vegliate adunque, perché non sapete il giorno, né l'ora.
14 'It is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them.	14 Imperocché (la cosa è) come quando un uomo partendo per lontan paese, chiamò i suoi servi, e mise il suo nelle loro mani:
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then heset out on his journey.	15 E dette all'uno cinque talenti, e all'altro due, e uno ad un altro, a ognuno a proporzione della sua capacità, e immediatamente si partì.
16 The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more.	16 Andò adunque quegli, che aveva ricevuti cinque talenti, e li trafficò, e ne guadagnò altri cinque.
17 The man who had received two made two more in the same way.	17 Medesimamente colui, che ne aveva ricevuti due, ne guadagnò altri due.
18 But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master'smoney.	18 Ma colui, che ne aveva ricevuto uno, andò, e fece una buca nella terra, e nascose il danaro del suo padrone.
19 Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accountswith them.	19 Dopo lungo spazio di tempo ritornò il padrone di que' servi, e chiamogli ai conti.
20 The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. "Sir," he said, "youentrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made."	20 E venuto colui, che avea ricevuto cinque talenti, gliene presentò altri cinque, dicendo: Signore, tu mi hai dato cinque talenti, eccone cinque di più, che ho guadagnati.
21 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	21 Gli rispose il padrone: Bene sta, servo buono, e fedele, perché nel poco se' stato fedele, ti farò padrone del molto: entra nel gaudio del tuo signore.
22 Next the man with the two talents came forward. "Sir," he said, "you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made."	22 Si presentò poi anche l'altro, che avea ricevuto i due talenti e disse: Signore, tu mi desti due talenti, ecco che io ne ho guadagnati due altri.
23 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	23 Dissegli il padrone: Bene sta, servo buono, e fedele, perché se' stato fedele nel poco, ti farò padrone del molto: entra nel gaudio del tuo signore.
24 Last came forward the man who had the single talent. "Sir," said he, "I had heard you were a hardman, reaping where you had not sown and gathering where you had not scattered;	24 Presentatosi poi anche colui, che aveva ricevuto un talento, disse: Signore, so, che sei uomo austero: che mieti, dove non hai seminato, e raccogli, dove non hai sparso nulla:
25 so I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is; it was yours, you have itback."	25 E timoroso andai a nascondere il tuo talento sotto terra: Eccoti il tuo.
26 But his master answered him, "You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I havenot sown and gather where I have not scattered?	26 Ma il padrone rispose, e dissegli: Servo malvagio, e infingardo, tu sapevi, che io mieto, dove non ho seminato, e ricolgo, dove non ho sparso.
27 Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have gotmy money back with interest.	27 Dovevi adunque dare il mio denaro ai banchieri, e al mio ritorno avrei ritirato il mio con l'interesse.
28 So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents.	28 Toglietegli adunque il talento, che ha e datelo a colui, che ha dieci talenti.
29 For to everyone who has wil be given more, and he wil have more than enough; but anyone whohas not, wil be deprived even of what he has.	29 Imperocché a chi ha, sarà dato, e troverassi nell'abbondanza: ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche quello, che sembra avere.
30 As for this good-for-nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weepingand grinding of teeth."	30 E il servo inutile gittatelo nelle tenebre esteriori: ivi sarà pianto, e stri dore di denti.
31 'When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by al the angels, then he will take his seat on histhrone of glory.	31 Quando poi verrà il Figliuolo dell'uomo nella sua maestà, e con lui tutti gli Angeli, allora sederà sopra il trono della sua maestà:
32 Al nations wil be assembled before him and he wil separate people one from another as theshepherd separates sheep from goats.	32 E si raduneranno dinanzi a lui tutte le nazioni, ed egli separerà gli uni dagli altri, come il pastore separa le pecorelle dai capretti:
33 He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.	33 E metterà le pecorelle alla sua destra, e i capretti alla sinistra.
34 Then the King wil say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take asyour heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.	34 Allora il Re dirà a quelli, che saranno alla sua destra: Venite, bene detti dal Padre mio, prendete possesso del regno preparato a voi sin dalla fondazione del mondo.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger andyou made me welcome,	35 Imperocché ebbi fame, e mi deste da mangiare: ebbi sete, e mi deste da bere: fui pellegrino, e mi ricettaste:
36 lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me."	36 Ignudo, e mi rivestiste: ammalato e mi visitaste: carcerato, e veniste da me.
37 Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirstyand give you drink?	37 Allora gli risponderanno i giusti: Signore, quando mai ti abbiamo veduta affamato, e ti abbiam dato da mangiare: assetato, e ti demmo da bere?
38 When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you?	38 Quando ti abbiamo veduto pellegrino, e ti abbiamo ricettato: ignudo, e ti abbiam rivestito?
39 When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?"	39 Ovvero quando ti abbiam veduto ammalato, o carcerato, e venimmo a visitarti?
40 And the King wil answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of thesebrothers of mine, you did it to me."	40 E il re risponderà, e dirà loro: In verità vi dico: Ogni volta che avete fatto qualche cosa per uno de' più piccoli di questi miei fratelli, l'avete fatta a me.
41 Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to theeternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	41 Allora dirà anche a coloro, che saranno alla sinistra: Via da me, maladetti, al fuoco eterno, che fu preparato pel Diavolo, e pe' suoi Angeli.
42 For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink,	42 Imperocché ebbi fame, e non mi deste da mangiare: ebbi sete, e non mi deste da bere:
43 I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sickand in prison and you never visited me."	43 Era pellegrino, e non mi ricettaste, ignudo, e non mi rivestiste: ammalato, e carcerato, e non mi visitaste.
44 Then it wil be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lackingclothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?"	44 Allora gli risponderanno anche questi: Signore, quando mai ti abbiam veduto affamato, o sitibondo, o pellegrino, o ignudo, o ammalato, o carcerato, e non ti abbiamo assistito?
45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least ofthese, you neglected to do it to me."	45 Allora risponderà ad essi con dire: In verità vi dico: Ogni volta che nmi avete ciò fatto per uno di questi piccoli, non lo avete fatto nemmeno a me.
46 And they wil go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.'	46 E anderanno questi all'eterno supplizio: i giusti poi alla vita eterna.
