NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'Then the kingdom of Heaven wil be like this: Ten wedding attendants took their lamps and went tomeet the bridegroom.	1 Allora si paragonerà il regno dei cieli a dieci vergini, le quali, prese le loro lampade, andarono incontro allo sposo e alla sposa.
2 Five of them were foolish and five were sensible:	2 Or cinque di esse erano stolte e cinque prudenti.
3 the foolish ones, though they took their lamps, took no oil with them,	3 Le stolte nel prendere le loro lampade non s'eran provviste d'olio:
4 whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as wel as their lamps.	4 le prudenti, invece, colle lampade presero anche l'olio nei vasetti.
5 The bridegroom was late, and they al grew drowsy and fell asleep.	5 Or, tardando lo sposo, s'appisolarono tutte e s'addormentarono.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, "Look! The bridegroom! Go out and meet him."	6 E sulla mezzanotte si levò un grido: Ecco lo sposo; uscitegli incontro.
7 Then al those wedding attendants woke up and trimmed their lamps,	7 Allora tutte quelle vergini s'alzarono ed acconciarono le loro lampade.
8 and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, "Give us some of your oil: our lamps are going out."	8 E le stolte dissero alle prudenti: Dateci dell'olio vostro, perchè le nostre lampade si spengono.
9 But they replied, "There may not be enough for us and for you; you had better go to those who sel itand buy some for yourselves."	9 Ma le prudenti risposero: Affinchè poi non manchi e a noi e a voi, andate piuttosto dai venditori e compratevene.
10 They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived. Those who were ready went in with him tothe wedding hall and the door was closed.	10 Or mentre quelle andavano a comprarne, giunse lo sposo: e quelle che erano pronte entrarono con lui alle nozze e fu chiuso l'uscio.
11 The other attendants arrived later. "Lord, Lord," they said, "open the door for us."	11 Da ultimo arrivarono anche le altre vergini: e cominciarono a dire: Signore, Signore, aprici.
12 But he replied, "In truth I tel you, I do not know you."	12 Ma egli rispose: In verità vi dico, non vi conosco.
13 So stay awake, because you do not know either the day or the hour.	13 Vegliate adunque, perchè ignorate il giorno e l'ora.
14 'It is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them.	14 Così pure un uomo stando per viaggiare, chiamati i servi, consegnò loro i suoi beni:
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then heset out on his journey.	15 a chi diede cinque talenti, a chi due, a chi uno: a ciascuno secondo la sua capacità, e subito partì.
16 The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more.	16 Or colui che aveva ricevuto cinque talenti, andò a negoziarli e ne guadagnò altri cinque.
17 The man who had received two made two more in the same way.	17 Similmente quello che ne aveva ricevuti due, ne guadagnò altri due.
18 But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master'smoney.	18 Ma colui che ne aveva ricevuto uno, andò a fare una buca nella terra e vi nascose il danaro del suo padrone.
19 Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accountswith them.	19 Or molto tempo dopo ritornò il padrone di quei servi, e li chiamò a render conto.
20 The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. "Sir," he said, "youentrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made."	20 E venuto quello che aveva ricevuto cinque talenti, ne presentò altri cinque, dicendo: Signore, me ne desti cinque, ecco ne ho guadagnati altri cinque.
21 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	21 E il padrone a lui: Bene, servo buono e fedele, perchè sei stato fedele nel poco, ti darò autorità su molto; entra nella gioia del tuo Signore.
22 Next the man with the two talents came forward. "Sir," he said, "you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made."	22 E presentatosi l'altro che aveva ricevuto due talenti, disse: Signore, me ne hai affidati due: eccone guadagnati altri due.
23 His master said to him, "Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you aretrustworthy in small things; I wil trust you with greater; come and join in your master's happiness."	23 E il padrone a lui: Bene, servo buono e fedele, perchè sei stato fedele nel poco, ti darò autorità su molto; entra nella gioia del tuo Signore.
24 Last came forward the man who had the single talent. "Sir," said he, "I had heard you were a hardman, reaping where you had not sown and gathering where you had not scattered;	24 Presentatosi poi anche quello che aveva ricevuto un talento solo: Signore, disse, so che tu sei un uomo duro e che mieti dove non hai seminato, e raccogli dove non hai sparso;
25 so I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is; it was yours, you have itback."	25 e, temendo, nascosi il tuo talento sotterra: eccoti il tuo.
26 But his master answered him, "You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I havenot sown and gather where I have not scattered?	26 Ma il padrone gli rispose: Servo iniquo e infingardo, tu sapevi che io mieto dove non ho seminato e raccolgo dove non ho sparso;
27 Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have gotmy money back with interest.	27 e quindi dovevi portare il mio denaro ai banchieri, così al ritorno avrei ritirato il mio con l'interesse;
28 So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents.	28 toglietegli perciò il talento e datelo a quello che ne ha dieci.
29 For to everyone who has wil be given more, and he wil have more than enough; but anyone whohas not, wil be deprived even of what he has.	29 A chi dunque ha, sarà dato e sovrabbonderà, ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche quel poco che sembra avere.
30 As for this good-for-nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weepingand grinding of teeth."	30 E l'inutile servo gettatelo fuori nel buio: ivi sarà pianto e stridor di denti.
31 'When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by al the angels, then he will take his seat on histhrone of glory.	31 Or quando verrà il Figlio dell'uomo nella sua maestà, con tutti i suoi angeli, sederà sul trono della sua gloria.
32 Al nations wil be assembled before him and he wil separate people one from another as theshepherd separates sheep from goats.	32 E si raduneranno dinanzi a lui tutte le genti, e separerà gli uni dagli altri, come il pastore separa le pecore dai capri;
33 He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.	33 e metterà le pecore alla sua destra e i capretti alla sinistra.
34 Then the King wil say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take asyour heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.	34 Allora il re dirà a quelli che saranno alla sua destra: Venite, benedetti dal Padre mio, prendete possesso del regno preparato per voi sin dalla fondazione del mondo.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger andyou made me welcome,	35 Perchè ebbi fame e mi deste da mangiare; ebbi sete e mi deste da bere; fui pellegrino e mi albergaste;
36 lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me."	36 ignudo e mi rivestiste; infermo e mi visitaste; carcerato e veniste a trovarmi.
37 Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirstyand give you drink?	37 Allora i giusti gli risponderanno: Signore, quando mai ti vedemmo affamato e ti abbiamo dato da mangiare, assetato e ti abbiamo dato da bere?
38 When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you?	38 Quando ti vedemmo pellegrino e ti abbiamo accolto, ignudo e ti abbiamo rivestito?
39 When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?"	39 Quando ti vedemmo infermo e carcerarato, e siam venuti a visitarti?
40 And the King wil answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of thesebrothers of mine, you did it to me."	40 E il re risponderà loro: In verità vi dico: quando ciò faceste ad uno dei minimi di questi miei fratelli, l'avete fatto a me.
41 Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to theeternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.	41 Allora si volgerà anche a quelli che sono a sinistra e dirà: Andate via da me, nel fuoco eterno, preparato pel diavolo e per gli angeli suoi.
42 For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink,	42 Perchè ebbi fame e non mi deste da mangiare, ebbi sete e non mi deste da bere;
43 I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sickand in prison and you never visited me."	43 fui pellegrino e non mi albergaste; ignudo e non mi rivestiste; infermo e carcerato, e non mi visitaste.
44 Then it wil be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lackingclothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?"	44 Allora anche questi gli risponderanno: Signore, quando mai ti abbiamo visto affamato o sitibondo, o pellegrino, o ignudo, o infermo, o carcerato, e non t'abbiamo assistito?
45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tel you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least ofthese, you neglected to do it to me."	45 Allora egli risponderà loro: In verità vi dico: quando ciò non faceste ad uno di questi minori, non l'avete fatto a me.
46 And they wil go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.'	46 E questi andranno al supplizio eterno, e i giusti alla vita eterna.
