1 I am the man familiar with misery under the rod of his fury.	1 ALEF. Io son l'uomo che ho vista la mia miseria sotto la verga del suo furore. ALEF.
2 He has led and guided me into darkness, not light.	2 M'ha condotto e m'ha fatto camminare nelle tenebre e non nella luce. ALEF.
3 Against none but me does he turn his hand, again and again, al day.	3 Contro me solo stese e ristese tutto il giorno la sua mano. BEI.
4 He has wasted my flesh and skin away, has broken my bones.	4 Ha consumato la mia pelle e la mia carne, ha stritolate le mie ossa. BET.
5 He has besieged me and made hardship a circlet round my head.	5 Ha alzato un muro intorno a me, m'ha ravvolta nell'amarezza e nell'affanno. BET.
6 He has forced me to dwel where al is dark, like those long-dead in their everlasting home.	6 Mi pose in luoghi tenebrosi, come quelli che son morti per sempre. GHIMEL.
7 He has walled me in so that I cannot escape; he has weighed me down with chains;	7 Mi serrò dentro un muro, da unii potere uscirne, aggravò i miei ceppi. GHIMEL.
8 even when I shout for help, he shuts out my prayer.	8 E quand'anche io alzi le grida e lo preghi, ha chiuso il varco alla mia preghiera. GHIMEL.
9 He has closed my way with blocks of stone, he has obstructed my paths.	9 Mi ha chiuse le mie strade con pietre quadrate, ha rovinati i miei sentieri. DALET.
10 For me he is a lurking bear, a lion in hiding.	10 E ' divenuto per me un orso in agguato, un leone in nascondigli. DALET.
11 Heading me off, he has torn me apart, leaving me shattered.	11 Ha rovinati i miei sentieri, mi ha ridotta in brandelli, mi ha abbandonata alla desolazione. DALET.
12 He has bent his bow and used me as a target for his arrows.	12 Tese il suo arco e mi pose qual bersaglio alle frecce. HE.
13 He has shot deep into me with shafts from his quiver.	13 M'ha confitte nei reni le frecce del suo turcasso. HE.
14 I have become a joke to al my own people, their refrain all day long.	14 Son divenuto il ludibrio di tutto il mio popolo, la loro canzone di tutto il giorno. HE.
15 He has given me my fil of bitterness, he has made me drunk with wormwood.	15 Mi ha ripieno di amarezza, mi ha inebriato d'assenzio. VAU.

19 Bring to mind my misery and anguish; it is wormwood and gall!	19 Ricordati della mia miseria, del mio eccesso, dell'assenzio e del fiele. ZAIN.
20 My heart dwel s on this continual y and sinks within me.	20 Io vo continuamente ricordando, e si strugge dentro di me l'anima mia. ZAIN.
21 This is what I shal keep in mind and so regain some hope:	21 Ritorno sopra queste cose col mio cuore e per questo avrò speranza. HET.
22 Surely Yahweh's mercies are not over, his deeds of faithful love not exhausted;	22 Per le misericordie del Signore non siamo stati annientati, chè non cesssaron mai le sue misericordie! HET.
23 every morning they are renewed; great is his faithfulness!	23 Si rinnovellano ogni mattina. Grande è la tua fedeltà! HET.
24 'Yahweh is al I have,' I say to myself, 'and so I shal put my hope in him.'	24 La mia porzione è il Signore — ha detto l'anima mia, — per questo lo aspetterò. TET.
25 Yahweh is good to those who trust him, to al who search for him.	25 Il Signore è buono per chi spera in lui, per l'anima che lo cerca. TET.
26 It is good to wait in silence for Yahweh to save.	26 E' bene aspettare in silenzio il soccorso di Dio. TET.
27 It is good for someone to bear the yoke from a young age,	27 E' bene per l'uomo aver portato il giogo fin dalla sua adolescenza. IOD.
28 to sit in solitude and silence when it weighs heavy,	28 Sederà solitario e taciturno, perchè se l'è tolto sopra di sè. IOD.
29 to lay one's head in the dust -- maybe there is hope-	29 Porrà la sua bocca nella polvere senza perdere la speranza. IOD.
30 to offer one's cheek to the striker, to have one's fil of disgrace!	30 Porgerà la guancia a chi lo percuote, e sarà saziato d'obbrobri. CAF.
31 For the Lord will not reject anyone for ever.	31 Ma il Signore non rigetterà per sempre; CAF.
32 If he brings grief, he wil have pity out of the ful ness of his faithful love,	32 E se ci ha rigettati, avrà anche compassione secondo la moltitudine delle sue misericordie. CAF.
33 for it is not for his own pleasure that he torments and grieves the human race.	33 Perchè non è secondo il suo cuore umiliare e scacciare i figli degli uomini. LAMED.
34 When al the prisoners in a country are crushed underfoot,	34 Se si calpestano sotto i piedi tutti gli schiavi della terra. LAMED.
35 when human rights are overridden in defiance of the Most High,	35 Se si viola il diritto dell'uomo nel cospetto dell'Altissimo. LAMED.
36 when someone is cheated of justice, does not the Lord see it?	36 Se si rovina un uomo nel suo giudizio, il Signore non lo sa? MEM.
37 Who has only to speak and it is so done? Who commands, if not the Lord?	37 Chi è colui che dice che avvenga una cosa senza il comando del Signore? MEM.
38 From where, if not from the mouth of the Most High, do evil and good come?	38 Non è dalla bocca dell'Altissimo che verranno i beni e i mali? MEM.
39 Why then should anyone complain? Better to be bold against one's sins.	39 Che ha da lamentarsi l'uomo che vive, l'uomo, (del castigo) dei suoi peccati? NUN.
40 Let us examine our path, let us ponder it and return to Yahweh.	40 Esaminiamo la nostra condotta, ricerchiamola, e torniamo al Signore. NUN.
41 Let us raise our hearts and hands to God in heaven.	41 Colle mani inalziamo i nostri cuori al Signore nei cieli. NUN.
42 We are the ones who have sinned, who have rebel ed, and you have not forgiven.	42 Noi abbiamo agito iniquamente, abbiamo provocato a sdegno, per questo tu sei stato inesorabile. SAMEC.
43 You have enveloped us in anger, pursuing us, slaughtering without pity.	43 Ti sei avvolto nell'ira, ci hai percossi, hai sterminato senza risparmiare. SAMEC.
44 You have wrapped yourself in a cloud too thick for prayer to pierce.	44 Ti sei posto davanti una nube, perchè non passi la preghiera. SAMEC.
45 You have reduced us to rubbish and refuse among the nations.	45 Mi hai reso la spazzatura, il rifiuto in mezzo alle nazioni. FE.
46 Our enemies open their mouths in chorus against us.	46 Hanno spalancata sopra di noi la loro bocca tutti i nostri nemici. FE.
47 Terror and pitfal have been our lot, ravage and ruin.	47 Per noi spavento e laccio, profezia e rovina. FE.
48 My eyes dissolve in torrents of tears at the ruin of my beloved people.	48 Gli occhi miei spargono (lacrime) a torrenti sopra la rovina della figlia del mio popolo. AIN.
49 My eyes wil weep ceaselessly, without relief,	49 L'occhio mio è afflitto e non ha pace, non avendo riposo. AIN.
50 until Yahweh looks down and sees from heaven.	50 Fino a che il Signore non volga lo sguardo e non rimiri dal cielo. AIN.
51 My eyes have grown sore over al the daughters of my city.	51 Il mio occhio ha rubato l'anima mia a causa di tutte le figlie della mia città. SADE.
52 Unprovoked, my enemies hunted me down like a bird.	52 Mi han preso alla caccia come un uccello quelli che senza motivo son miei nemici; SADE.
53 They shut me final y in a pit, they closed me in with a stone.	53 Mi han fatto precipitare nella fossa ed hanno posta sopra di me la pietra. SADE.
54 The waters rose over my head; I thought, 'I am lost!'	54 Le acque mi han coperto fin sopra il capo, ed io ho detto: « Son perduto! » COF.
55 Yahweh, I called on your name from the deep pit.	55 Ho invocato il tuo nome, o Signore, dal più profondo della fossa. COF.
56 You heard my voice, do not close your ear to my prayer, to my cry.	56 Tu hai sentita la mia voce, non chiuder le orecchie ai miei singulti, alle mie grida. COF.
57 You are near when I cal to you. You said, 'Do not be afraid!'	57 Tu ti avvicinasti nel giorno in cui t'invocai, dicesti: « Non temere ». RES.
58 Lord, you defended my cause, you have redeemed my life.	58 Giudicasti in favore dell'anima mia, o salvatore della mia vita. RES.
59 Yahweh, you have seen the wrong done to me, grant me redress.	59 Tu hai veduto, o Signore, la loro iniquità contro di me, rendimi giustizia. RES.
60 You have seen their vindictiveness, al their plots against me.	60 Tu hai veduti tutti i loro furori, tutte le loro trame contro di me. SIN.
61 You have heard their insults, Yahweh, al their plots against me,	61 Tu hai sentito i loro oltraggi, o Signore, tutte le loro trame contro di me. SIN.
62 the whispering and murmuring of my enemies against me all day long.	62 E le parole dei miei avversari e quello che meditano contro di me tutto il giorno. SIN.
63 Look, whether they sit or stand, I am their refrain.	63 Quando siedono, quando si alzano, guarda, io sono la loro canzone. TAU.
64 Yahweh, repay them as their deeds deserve.	64 Rendi loro il contraccambio, o Signore, secondo le opere delle loro mani. TAU.
65 Lay hardness of heart as your curse on them.	65 Poni loro lo scudo del cuore, il tuo affanno. TAU.
66 Angrily pursue them, root them out from under your heavens!	66 Perseguitali nel tuo furore, sterminali di sotto ai cieli, o Signore.
