NEW JERUSALEMVULGATA
1 [Of Solomon] God, endow the king with your own fair judgement, the son of the king with your ownsaving justice,1 Psalmus Asaph. Quam bonus Israël Deus,
his qui recto sunt corde !
2 that he may rule your people with justice, and your poor with fair judgement.2 Mei autem pene moti sunt pedes,
pene effusi sunt gressus mei :
3 Mountains and hil s, bring peace to the people! With justice3 quia zelavi super iniquos,
pacem peccatorum videns.
4 he wil judge the poor of the people, he wil save the children of the needy and crush their oppressors.4 Quia non est respectus morti eorum,
et firmamentum in plaga eorum.
5 In the sight of the sun and the moon he wil endure, age after age.5 In labore hominum non sunt,
et cum hominibus non flagellabuntur.
6 He will come down like rain on mown grass, like showers moistening the land.6 Ideo tenuit eos superbia ;
operti sunt iniquitate et impietate sua.
7 In his days uprightness shal flourish, and peace in plenty till the moon is no more.7 Prodiit quasi ex adipe iniquitas eorum ;
transierunt in affectum cordis.
8 His empire shal stretch from sea to sea, from the river to the limits of the earth.8 Cogitaverunt et locuti sunt nequitiam ;
iniquitatem in excelso locuti sunt.
9 The Beast wil cower before him, his enemies lick the dust;9 Posuerunt in cælum os suum,
et lingua eorum transivit in terra.
10 the kings of Tarshish and the islands wil pay him tribute. The kings of Sheba and Saba wil offer gifts;10 Ideo convertetur populus meus hic,
et dies pleni invenientur in eis.
11 all kings will do him homage, al nations become his servants.11 Et dixerunt : Quomodo scit Deus,
et si est scientia in excelso ?
12 For he rescues the needy who cal s to him, and the poor who has no one to help.12 Ecce ipsi peccatores, et abundantes in sæculo
obtinuerunt divitias.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the needy from death.13 Et dixi : Ergo sine causa justificavi cor meum,
et lavi inter innocentes manus meas,
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their lives, their blood is precious in his sight.14 et fui flagellatus tota die,
et castigatio mea in matutinis.
15 (Long may he live; may the gold of Sheba be given him!) Prayer wil be offered for him constantly,and blessings invoked on him al day.15 Si dicebam : Narrabo sic ;
ecce nationem filiorum tuorum reprobavi.
16 May wheat abound in the land, waving on the heights of the hills, like Lebanon with its fruits andflowers at their best, like the grasses of the earth.16 Existimabam ut cognoscerem hoc ;
labor est ante me :
17 May his name be blessed for ever, and endure in the sight of the sun. In him shal be blessed everyrace in the world, and all nations call him blessed.17 donec intrem in sanctuarium Dei,
et intelligam in novissimis eorum.
18 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who alone works wonders;18 Verumtamen propter dolos posuisti eis ;
dejecisti eos dum allevarentur.
19 blessed for ever his glorious name. May the whole world be fil ed with his glory! Amen! Amen!19 Quomodo facti sunt in desolationem ?
subito defecerunt : perierunt propter iniquitatem suam.
20 End of the prayers of David, son of Jesse.20 Velut somnium surgentium, Domine,
in civitate tua imaginem ipsorum ad nihilum rediges.
21 Quia inflammatum est cor meum,
et renes mei commutati sunt ;
22 et ego ad nihilum redactus sum, et nescivi :
23 ut jumentum factus sum apud te,
et ego semper tecum.
24 Tenuisti manum dexteram meam,
et in voluntate tua deduxisti me,
et cum gloria suscepisti me.
25 Quid enim mihi est in cælo ?
et a te quid volui super terram ?
26 Defecit caro mea et cor meum ;
Deus cordis mei, et pars mea, Deus in æternum.
27 Quia ecce qui elongant se a te peribunt ;
perdidisti omnes qui fornicantur abs te.
28 Mihi autem adhærere Deo bonum est ;
ponere in Domino Deo spem meam :
ut annuntiem omnes prædicationes tuas
in portis filiæ Sion.
