1 [Of Solomon] God, endow the king with your own fair judgement, the son of the king with your ownsaving justice,	1 - Salmo di Asaf. Quant' è buono Iddio con Israele, con quei che sono di cuore retto!
2 that he may rule your people with justice, and your poor with fair judgement.	2 Eppure, per poco non han vacillato i miei piedi, per poco non son sdrucciolati i miei passi!
3 Mountains and hil s, bring peace to the people! With justice	3 Perchè ho invidiato gl'iniqui, vedendo la prosperità de' malvagi.
4 he wil judge the poor of the people, he wil save the children of the needy and crush their oppressors.	4 Giacchè non c'è di che pensare alla lor morte, nè v'è stabilità nella loro sciagura.
5 In the sight of the sun and the moon he wil endure, age after age.	5 A' travagli degli uomini non han parte, nè con gli [altri] uomini son flagellati.
6 He will come down like rain on mown grass, like showers moistening the land.	6 Perciò li possiede l'orgoglio, son ammantati della loro iniquità ed empietà!
7 In his days uprightness shal flourish, and peace in plenty till the moon is no more.	7 Spunta quasi dal grasso la loro iniquità, s'abbandonano alla passione del cuore.
8 His empire shal stretch from sea to sea, from the river to the limits of the earth.	8 Pensano e parlano malvagità, iniquità parlan dall'alto.
9 The Beast wil cower before him, his enemies lick the dust;	9 Drizzano contro il cielo la lor bocca, e la lingua loro percorre la terra.
10 the kings of Tarshish and the islands wil pay him tribute. The kings of Sheba and Saba wil offer gifts;	10 Perciò si volge il mio popolo dalla lor parte, poichè lunghi [e prosperi] giorni trovano in essi.
11 all kings will do him homage, al nations become his servants.	11 E dicono: «Come [può esser vero] che Dio sa? e v'ha egli conoscenza nell'Altissimo?
12 For he rescues the needy who cal s to him, and the poor who has no one to help.	12 Eccoli lì gli empi!e [son tuttavia] i fortunati del secolo, ammassan ricchezze».
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the needy from death.	13 E dissi: «Invano adunque ho purificato il mio cuore, e ho lavato nell'innocenza le mie mani;
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their lives, their blood is precious in his sight.	14 [giacchè] son flagellato tutto il dì, e il mio castigo [comincia sin] dal mattino!».
15 (Long may he live; may the gold of Sheba be given him!) Prayer wil be offered for him constantly,and blessings invoked on him al day.	15 Se avessi detto: «[Sì], parlerò così», ecco avrei tradito la stirpe de' tuoi figliuoli.
16 May wheat abound in the land, waving on the heights of the hills, like Lebanon with its fruits andflowers at their best, like the grasses of the earth.	16 [Perciò] andavo riflettendo per intender questo [mistero];[ma] un incubo era davanti agli occhi miei.
17 May his name be blessed for ever, and endure in the sight of the sun. In him shal be blessed everyrace in the world, and all nations call him blessed.	17 Finchè penetrai nel sacrario di Dio, e compresi la [triste] loro fine.
18 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who alone works wonders;	18 Davvero, per ingannarli hai [così] disposto [le cose] per loro: tu gli abbatti nel mentre s'esaltano!
19 blessed for ever his glorious name. May the whole world be fil ed with his glory! Amen! Amen!	19 Come vanno in malora a un tratto!si dileguano, periscono per la loro iniquità.
20 End of the prayers of David, son of Jesse.	20 Come un sogno di chi si sveglia, o Signore, [così] annienti nella tua città, l'immagine loro!
	21 Quando acceso era il mio cuore, e perturbati i miei reni,
	22 io diventavo un nulla e non capivo niente,
	23 ero come un bruto davanti a te! Ma [ora] io son sempre con te:
	24 tu mi tieni per la mia destrae secondo il tuo volere mi guidi, e [poi] m'accoglierai con gloria.
	25 Cos'[altro], infatti, c'è per me nel cielo? e fuori di te che cosa io voglio sulla terra?
	26 Vien meno la mia carne e il mio cuore; Dio del mio cuore e mia porzione è Iddio in eterno!
	27 Perchè ecco, quei che si allontanan da te periranno, in perdizione tu mandi quanti fan divorzio da te.
	28 Ma buon per me lo stare unito a Dio, porre nel Signore Iddio la mia speranza! per celebrar le tue lodialle porte della città di Sion.
