NEW JERUSALEMNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
In you, Yahweh, I take refuge, I shal never be put to shame.1 In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.
In your saving justice rescue me, deliver me, listen to me and save me.2 In your justice rescue and deliver me; listen to me and save me!
Be a sheltering rock for me, always accessible; you have determined to save me, for you are my rock,my fortress.3 Be my rock and refuge, my secure stronghold; for you are my rock and fortress.
My God, rescue me from the clutches of the wicked, from the grasp of the rogue and the ruthless.4 My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of the violent.
For you are my hope, Lord, my trust, Yahweh, since boyhood.5 You are my hope, Lord; my trust, GOD, from my youth.
On you I have relied since my birth, since my mother's womb you have been my portion, the constanttheme of my praise.6 On you I depend since birth; from my mother's womb you are my strength; my hope in you never wavers.
Many were bewildered at me, but you are my sure refuge.7 I have become a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge!
My mouth is full of your praises, fil ed with your splendour all day long.8 My mouth shall be filled with your praise, shall sing your glory every day.
Do not reject me in my old age, nor desert me when my strength is failing,9 Do not cast me aside in my old age; as my strength fails, do not forsake me.
for my enemies are discussing me, those with designs on my life are plotting together.10 For my enemies speak against me; they watch and plot against me.
'Hound him down, for God has deserted him! Seize him, there is no one to rescue him.'11 They say, "God has abandoned that one Pursue, seize the wretch! No one will come to the rescue!"
God, do not stand aloof, my God, come quickly to help me.12 God, do not stand far from me; my God, hasten to help me.
Shame and ruin on those who slander me, may those intent on harming me be covered with insultand infamy.13 Bring to a shameful end those who attack me; Cover with contempt and scorn those who seek my ruin.
As for me, my hope wil never fade, I wil praise you more and more.14 I will always hope in you and add to all your praise.
My lips shal proclaim your saving justice, your saving power all day long.15 My mouth shall proclaim your just deeds, day after day your acts of deliverance, though I cannot number them all.
I wil come in the power of Yahweh to tel of your justice, yours alone.16 I will speak of the mighty works of the Lord; O GOD, I will tell of your singular justice.
God, you have taught me from boyhood, and I am still proclaiming your marvels.17 God, you have taught me from my youth; to this day I proclaim your wondrous deeds.
Now that I am old and grey-haired, God, do not desert me, til I have proclaimed your strength togenerations still to come, your power18 Now that I am old and gray, do not forsake me, God, That I may proclaim your might to all generations yet to come, Your power
and justice to the skies. You have done great things, God, who is like you?19 and justice, God, to the highest heaven. You have done great things; O God, who is your equal?
You have shown me much misery and hardship, but you will give me life again, You will raise me upagain from the depths of the earth,20 You have sent me many bitter afflictions, but once more revive me. From the watery depths of the earth once more raise me up.
prolong my old age, and comfort me again.21 Restore my honor; turn and comfort me,
For my part, I will thank you on the lyre for your constancy, my God. I wil play the harp in yourhonour, Holy One of Israel.22 That I may praise you with the lyre for your faithfulness, my God, And sing to you with the harp, O Holy One of Israel!
My lips sing for joy as I play to you, because you have redeemed me,23 My lips will shout for joy as I sing your praise; my soul, too, which you have redeemed.
and al day long my tongue muses on your saving justice. Shame and disgrace on those intent toharm me!24 Yes, my tongue shall recount your justice day by day. For those who sought my ruin will have been shamed and disgraced.
