Psalms 71

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 In you, Yahweh, I take refuge, I shal never be put to shame.	1 בך יהוה חסיתי אל אבושה לעולם
2 In your saving justice rescue me, deliver me, listen to me and save me.	2 בצדקתך תצילני ותפלטני הטה אלי אזנך והושיעני
3 Be a sheltering rock for me, always accessible; you have determined to save me, for you are my rock,my fortress.	3 היה לי לצור מעון לבוא תמיד צוית להושיעני כי סלעי ומצודתי אתה
4 My God, rescue me from the clutches of the wicked, from the grasp of the rogue and the ruthless.	4 אלהי פלטני מיד רשע מכף מעול וחומץ
5 For you are my hope, Lord, my trust, Yahweh, since boyhood.	5 כי אתה תקותי אדני יהוה מבטחי מנעורי
6 On you I have relied since my birth, since my mother's womb you have been my portion, the constanttheme of my praise.	6 עליך נסמכתי מבטן ממעי אמי אתה גוזי בך תהלתי תמיד
7 Many were bewildered at me, but you are my sure refuge.	7 כמופת הייתי לרבים ואתה מחסי עז
8 My mouth is full of your praises, fil ed with your splendour all day long.	8 ימלא פי תהלתך כל היום תפארתך
9 Do not reject me in my old age, nor desert me when my strength is failing,	9 אל תשליכני לעת זקנה ככלות כחי אל תעזבני
10 for my enemies are discussing me, those with designs on my life are plotting together.	10 כי אמרו אויבי לי ושמרי נפשי נועצו יחדו
11 'Hound him down, for God has deserted him! Seize him, there is no one to rescue him.'	11 לאמר אלהים עזבו רדפו ותפשוהו כי אין מציל
12 God, do not stand aloof, my God, come quickly to help me.	12 אלהים אל תרחק ממני אלהי לעזרתי חישה
13 Shame and ruin on those who slander me, may those intent on harming me be covered with insultand infamy.	13 יבשו יכלו שטני נפשי יעטו חרפה וכלמה מבקשי רעתי
14 As for me, my hope wil never fade, I wil praise you more and more.	14 ואני תמיד איחל והוספתי על כל תהלתך
15 My lips shal proclaim your saving justice, your saving power all day long.	15 פי יספר צדקתך כל היום תשועתך כי לא ידעתי ספרות
16 I wil come in the power of Yahweh to tel of your justice, yours alone.	16 אבוא בגברות אדני יהוה אזכיר צדקתך לבדך
17 God, you have taught me from boyhood, and I am still proclaiming your marvels.	17 אלהים למדתני מנעורי ועד הנה אגיד נפלאותיך
18 Now that I am old and grey-haired, God, do not desert me, til I have proclaimed your strength togenerations still to come, your power	18 וגם עד זקנה ושיבה אלהים אל תעזבני עד אגיד זרועך לדור לכל יבוא גבורתך
19 and justice to the skies. You have done great things, God, who is like you?	19 וצדקתך אלהים עד מרום אשר עשית גדלות אלהים מי כמוך
20 You have shown me much misery and hardship, but you will give me life again, You will raise me upagain from the depths of the earth,	20 אשר הראיתנו צרות רבות ורעות תשוב תחיינו ומתהמות הארץ תשוב תעלני
21 prolong my old age, and comfort me again.	21 תרב גדלתי ותסב תנחמני
22 For my part, I will thank you on the lyre for your constancy, my God. I wil play the harp in yourhonour, Holy One of Israel.	22 גם אני אודך בכלי נבל אמתך אלהי אזמרה לך בכנור קדוש ישראל
23 My lips sing for joy as I play to you, because you have redeemed me,	23 תרננה שפתי כי אזמרה לך ונפשי אשר פדית
24 and al day long my tongue muses on your saving justice. Shame and disgrace on those intent toharm me!	24 גם לשוני כל היום תהגה צדקתך כי בשו כי חפרו מבקשי רעתי
