1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David] Rescue me, Yahweh, from evil men, protect me from violentmen,	1 For the leader. A psalm of David.
2 whose heart is bent on malice, day after day they harbour strife;	2 Deliver me, LORD, from the wicked; preserve me from the violent,
3 their tongues as barbed as a serpent's, viper's venom behind their lips.Pause	3 From those who plan evil in their hearts, who stir up conflicts every day,
4 Keep me, Yahweh, from the clutches of the wicked, protect me from violent men, who are bent onmaking me stumble,laying out snares where I walk,	4 Who sharpen their tongues like serpents, venom of asps upon their lips. Selah
5 in their arrogance hiding pitfal and nooseto trap me as I pass.Pause	5 Keep me, LORD, from the clutches of the wicked; preserve me from the violent, who plot to trip me up.
6 I said to Yahweh, 'You are my God.' Listen, Yahweh, to the sound of my prayer.	6 The arrogant have set a trap for me; villains have spread a net, laid snares for me by the wayside. Selah
7 Yahweh my Lord, my saving strength, you shield my head when battle comes.	7 I say to the LORD: You are my God; listen, LORD, to the words of my prayer.
8 Yahweh, do not grant the wicked their wishes, do not let their plots succeed.Pause Do not let myattackers	8 My revered LORD, my strong helper, my helmet on the day of battle.
9 prevail, but let them be overwhelmed by their own malice.	9 LORD, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not let their plots succeed. Selah
10 May red-hot embers rain down on them, may they be flung into the mire once and for all.	10 Around me they raise their proud heads; may the mischief they threaten overwhelm them.
11 May the slanderer find no rest anywhere, may evil hunt down violent men implacably.	11 May God rain burning coals upon them, cast them into the grave never more to rise.
12 I know that Yahweh wil give judgement for the wretched, justice for the needy.	12 Slanderers will not survive on earth; evil will quickly entrap the violent.
13 The upright shal praise your name, the honest dwel in your presence.	13 For I know the LORD will secure justice for the needy, their rights for the poor.
	14 Then the just will give thanks to your name; the upright will dwell in your presence.
