Job 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 I have seen all this with my own eyes, heard with my own ears and understood.	1 - Ecco, tutte queste cose ha viste l'occhio mio, ha udite il mio orecchio e tutte io le compresi;
2 Whatever you know, I know too; I am in no way inferior to you.	2 quanto sapete voialtri lo so anch'io, nè a voialtri io sono inferiore.
3 But my words are intended for Shaddai; I mean to remonstrate with God.	3 Io invece all'Onnipotente parlo, e di discutere con Dio io bramo:
4 As for you, you are only charlatans, all worthless as doctors!	4 mostrando prima che siete fabbricatori di menzogna, e che asserite false dottrine.
5 Wil no one teach you to be quiet -- the only wisdom that becomes you!	5 Oh! se piuttosto serbaste silenzio, sì da farvi stimare sapienti!
6 Kindly listen to my accusation and give your attention to the way I shall plead.	6 Ascoltate dunque la mia riprensione, e alla sentenza delle mie labbra fate attenzione.
7 Do you mean to defend God by prevarication and by dishonest argument,	7 Ha forse bisogno Dio della vostra menzogna, perchè dobbiate asserire cose false in favor suo?
8 and, taking his side like this, appoint yourselves as his advocates?	8 Vi mostrerete forse parziali con luie vi sforzerete di far gli avvocati di Dio?
9 How would you fare, if he were to scrutinise you? Can he be duped as mortals are duped?	9 Ma ciò piacerà a lui a cui nulla si può celare? ovvero rimarrà egli, come uomo, ingannato dalle vostre frodi?
10 He would inflict a harsh rebuke on you for your covert partiality.	10 Egli stesso riprenderebbe voialtri, perchè in segreto vi mostrate parziali con lui;
11 Does his majesty not affright you? Does his terror not overcome you?	11 tosto ch'ei si scotesse vi sbigottirebbe, ed il terrore di lui cadrebbe su voialtri;
12 Your received ideas are maxims of ash, your retorts, retorts of clay.	12 i vostri memoriali sarebbero [sentenze da] cenere, e diventerebbero d'argilla i vostri cimieri.
13 Be quiet! Kindly let me do the talking, happen to me what may.	13 Tacete alquanto, ed io parleròtutto ciò che la mia mente mi dirà.
14 I am putting my flesh between my teeth, I am taking my life in my hands;	14 Perchè lacero io le mie carni con i miei denti, e perchè metto l'anima mia nelle mie mani?
15 let him kill me if he will; I have no other hope than to justify my conduct in his eyes.	15 Quand'anche egli mi uccidesse, in lui spererò, eppur la mia condotta innanzi a lui difenderò;
16 And this is what wil save me, for the wicked would not dare to appear before him.	16 ed egli proprio sarà il mio salvatore, poichè in faccia a lui non comparisce alcun ipocrita.
17 Listen careful y to my words, and pay attention to what I am going to say.	17 Ascoltate la mia parola, ed alle mie sentenze porgete orecchio.
18 You see, I shal proceed by form of law, knowing that I am upright.	18 Se io sarò giudicato, so che verrò riconosciuto giusto.
19 Who wants to contest my case? In advance, I agree to be silenced and to die!	19 Chi è che verrà meco in giudizio? Venga! Perchè dovrei consumarmi tacendo?
20 Only grant me two concessions, and then I shal not hide away from your face:	20 Soltanto due cose tu [o Dio], non dovrai fare con me, e allor dalla tua faccia non m'occulterò:
21 remove your hand, which lies so heavy on me, no longer make me cower from your terror.	21 la tua mano ritira tu da me, e il tuo terrore non mi sbigottisca;
22 Then cal me forward and I shal answer, or rather, I shall speak and you wil answer.	22 quindi interrogami ed io ti risponderò, ovvero parlerò io e tu rispondimi.
23 How many faults and crimes have I committed? Tell me what my misdeed has been, what my sin?	23 Quante sono le mie iniquità e peccati? le mie scelleratezze e delitti fammi conoscere!
24 Why do you hide your face and look on me as your enemy?	24 Perchè mai nascondi tu il tuo volto, e mi reputi come tuo nemico?
25 Do you want to intimidate a wind-blown leaf, do you want to pursue a dry straw?	25 Contro una foglia, che il vento rapisce, mostri la tua potenza, e perseguiti un'arida pagliuzza;
26 You who lay bitter al egations against me and tax me with the faults of my youth	26 tu infatti decreti contro di me amarezze, e mi vuoi far consumar dai peccati della mia giovinezza:
27 and have put my feet in the stocks; you examine my every step and measure my footprints one byone!	27 mettesti nel ceppo i piedi miei, osservasti tutte le mie strade, e l'orme de' miei piedi scrutasti;
28 For his part, he crumbles away like rotten wood, or like a moth-eaten garment,	28 mentre io come [legno] tarlato devo consumarmi, e come veste ch'è corrosa dalla tignuola.
