NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 I have seen all this with my own eyes, heard with my own ears and understood.	1 Sí, todo esto lo vi con mis propios ojos, lo escuché con mis oídos y lo entendí,
2 Whatever you know, I know too; I am in no way inferior to you.	2 Lo que ustedes saben, lo sé yo también: no estoy por debajo de ustedes.
3 But my words are intended for Shaddai; I mean to remonstrate with God.	3 Pero yo quiero hablarle al Todopoderoso, mi deseo es discutir con Dios.
4 As for you, you are only charlatans, all worthless as doctors!	4 ¡Ustedes lo encubren todo con sus mentiras, médicos inútiles son todos ustedes!
5 Wil no one teach you to be quiet -- the only wisdom that becomes you!	5 ¡Si se callaran de una vez, darían una prueba de sabiduría!
6 Kindly listen to my accusation and give your attention to the way I shall plead.	6 Escuchen, entonces, mi defensa; presten atención a mi querella.
7 Do you mean to defend God by prevarication and by dishonest argument,	7 ¿Es por Dios que ustedes hablan falsamente y para favorecerlo apelan al engaño?
8 and, taking his side like this, appoint yourselves as his advocates?	8 ¿Se muestran parciales en atención a él y pretenden ser los abogados de Dios?
9 How would you fare, if he were to scrutinise you? Can he be duped as mortals are duped?	9 ¿Eso los beneficiará cuando él los examine? ¿Jugarán con él como se juega con un hombre?
10 He would inflict a harsh rebuke on you for your covert partiality.	10 No, él será el primero en acusarlos si toman partido solapadamente.
11 Does his majesty not affright you? Does his terror not overcome you?	11 ¿Acaso no los espantará su majestad, y su terror no se abatirá sobre ustedes?
12 Your received ideas are maxims of ash, your retorts, retorts of clay.	12 Las que ustedes alegan son sentencias de ceniza, sus respuestas son de barro.
13 Be quiet! Kindly let me do the talking, happen to me what may.	13 Dejen de hablarme, soy yo el que hablaré, ¡no importa lo que me pueda pasar!
14 I am putting my flesh between my teeth, I am taking my life in my hands;	14 Arriesgaré el todo por el todo y pondré en peligro mi vida.

18 You see, I shal proceed by form of law, knowing that I am upright.	18 Estoy preparado para el juicio, yo sé que la razón estará de mi par.
19 Who wants to contest my case? In advance, I agree to be silenced and to die!	19 ¿Hay alguien que me pueda incriminar? Entonces aceptaría quedarme callado y expirar.
20 Only grant me two concessions, and then I shal not hide away from your face:	20 Concédeme dos cosas solamente, y así no me ocultaré de tu presencia:
21 remove your hand, which lies so heavy on me, no longer make me cower from your terror.	21 aparte de mí la palma de tu mano y que tu terror no me atemorice.
22 Then cal me forward and I shal answer, or rather, I shall speak and you wil answer.	22 Luego llámame, y yo te responderé, o hablaré yo, y tú me responderás.
23 How many faults and crimes have I committed? Tell me what my misdeed has been, what my sin?	23 ¿Cuántas son mis culpas y mis pecados? Dame a conocer mi rebeldía y mi pecado.
24 Why do you hide your face and look on me as your enemy?	24 ¿Por qué ocultas tu rostro y me consideras tu enemigo?
25 Do you want to intimidate a wind-blown leaf, do you want to pursue a dry straw?	25 ¿Quieres atemorizar a una hoja llevado por el viento? ¿Vas a perseguir a una paja reseca?
26 You who lay bitter al egations against me and tax me with the faults of my youth	26 ¡Tú me dictas contra mí sentencias amargas y me imputas las culpas de mi juventud,
27 and have put my feet in the stocks; you examine my every step and measure my footprints one byone!	27 tú que pones mis pies en el cepo, tú que vigilas todos mis senderos y cercas las plantas de mis pies!
28 For his part, he crumbles away like rotten wood, or like a moth-eaten garment,	28 Así este hombre se deshace como madera carcomida, como ropa devorada por la polilla.
