Job 13

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 I have seen all this with my own eyes, heard with my own ears and understood.	1 Ecco, l’occhio mio ha vedute tutte queste cose, L’orecchio mio le ha udite, e le ha intese.
2 Whatever you know, I know too; I am in no way inferior to you.	2 Quanto sapete voi, so anch’io; Io non son da men di voi.
3 But my words are intended for Shaddai; I mean to remonstrate with God.	3 E pure io parlerò all’Onnipotente; Io avrò a grado di venire a ragione con lui.
4 As for you, you are only charlatans, all worthless as doctors!	4 Ma certo, quant’è a voi, voi siete rappezzatori di menzogna; Voi siete medici da nulla tutti quanti.
5 Wil no one teach you to be quiet -- the only wisdom that becomes you!	5 Oh! vi taceste pur del tutto, Ciò vi sarebbe reputato in saviezza!
6 Kindly listen to my accusation and give your attention to the way I shall plead.	6 Deh! ascoltate la difesa della mia ragione, Ed attendete agli argomenti delle mie labbra.
7 Do you mean to defend God by prevarication and by dishonest argument,	7 Convienvisi in favor di Dio parlar perversamente, E per rispetto suo parlar frodolentemente?
8 and, taking his side like this, appoint yourselves as his advocates?	8 Convienvisi aver riguardo alla qualità sua? Convienvisi litigar per Iddio?
9 How would you fare, if he were to scrutinise you? Can he be duped as mortals are duped?	9 Sarebbe egli ben per voi ch’egli vi esaminasse? Gabberestelo voi come si gabba un uomo?
10 He would inflict a harsh rebuke on you for your covert partiality.	10 Egli del certo vi arguirà, Se di nascosto avete riguardo alla qualità delle persone.
11 Does his majesty not affright you? Does his terror not overcome you?	11 La sua altezza non vi sgomenterà ella? Lo spavento di lui non vi caderà egli addosso?
12 Your received ideas are maxims of ash, your retorts, retorts of clay.	12 I vostri detti memorandi son simili a cenere; Ed i vostri sublimi ragionamenti a mucchi di fango
13 Be quiet! Kindly let me do the talking, happen to me what may.	13 Tacetevi, e lasciatemi stare, ed io parlerò; E passimi addosso che che sia.
14 I am putting my flesh between my teeth, I am taking my life in my hands;	14 Perchè mi strappo io la carne co’ denti, E perchè tengo l’anima mia nella palma della mia mano?
15 let him kill me if he will; I have no other hope than to justify my conduct in his eyes.	15 Ecco, uccidami egli pure; sì spererò in lui; Ma tuttavia difenderò le mie vie nel suo cospetto.
16 And this is what wil save me, for the wicked would not dare to appear before him.	16 Ed egli stesso mi sarà in salvazione; Perciocchè l’ipocrita non gli verrà davanti.
17 Listen careful y to my words, and pay attention to what I am going to say.	17 Ascoltate attentamente il mio ragionamento; Ed entrivi negli orecchi la mia dichiarazione.
18 You see, I shal proceed by form of law, knowing that I am upright.	18 Ecco ora, quando io avrò esposta per ordine la mia ragione, Io so che sarò trovato giusto.
19 Who wants to contest my case? In advance, I agree to be silenced and to die!	19 Chi è colui che voglia litigar meco? Conciossiachè di presente mi tacerò, e spirerò.
20 Only grant me two concessions, and then I shal not hide away from your face:	20 Sol non farmi due cose, Ed allora io non mi nasconderò dal tuo cospetto.
21 remove your hand, which lies so heavy on me, no longer make me cower from your terror.	21 Allontana la tua mano d’addosso a me, E non mi spaventi il tuo terrore.
22 Then cal me forward and I shal answer, or rather, I shall speak and you wil answer.	22 E poi chiama, ed io risponderò; Ovvero, io parlerò, e tu rispondimi
23 How many faults and crimes have I committed? Tell me what my misdeed has been, what my sin?	23 Quante iniquità e peccati ho io? Mostrami il mio misfatto, e il mio peccato.
24 Why do you hide your face and look on me as your enemy?	24 Perchè nascondi la tua faccia, E mi reputi tuo nemico?
25 Do you want to intimidate a wind-blown leaf, do you want to pursue a dry straw?	25 Stritolerai tu una fronda sospinta? O perseguiterai tu della stoppia secca?
26 You who lay bitter al egations against me and tax me with the faults of my youth	26 Che tu mi sentenzii a pene amare, E mi faccia eredar l’iniquità della mia fanciullezza!
27 and have put my feet in the stocks; you examine my every step and measure my footprints one byone!	27 E metta i miei piedi ne’ ceppi, E spii tutti i miei sentieri, E stampi le tue pedate in su le radici de’ miei piedi!
28 For his part, he crumbles away like rotten wood, or like a moth-eaten garment,	28 Onde costui si disfa come del legno intarlato, Come un vestimento roso dalle tignuole
